#8 of 20 B&Bs / Inns in Tulbagh
Manley Wine Estate is a boutique wine lodge and private cellar with luxury bed and breakfast accommodation, self-catering cottages, and a wedding chapel and beautiful function venue with a unique character. Manley is situated in the beautiful countryside of the small town Tulbagh, only a 90-minute drive from Cape Town CBD, and is surrounded by majestic mountain views, sweeping vineyards, and beautiful farmlands. The lodge itself is located towards Winterhoek only 1.3 km outside the historic Tulbagh town center, famous for its museums, unique earthquake history, and many different cultural activities. A short walk across the lawns from the thatch roof Manor House, in which the reception and dining areas are situated, we have seven large double bed and breakfast rooms which are arranged around a shaded courtyard adjacent to the pool. We also have two linked self-catering thatched cottages which are nestled beside the water at the end of the property. Each cottage can accommodate four persons and is ideal for small families. All our rooms are equipped with a private en-suite bathroom, DSTV (satellite TV) with ample available channels to select from, air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, mini-fridges, built-in safes, and WIFI internet access. Most of our rooms also have their own fireplaces, making them especially cozy in winter, when we have been known to get a dusting of snow on the mountains. Breakfast is included in the cost of your stay if you book one of our double guest rooms. Breakfast is unfortunately not included with the self-catering cottages but can be added on by prior arrangement at an additional cost per person. The on-site eatery caters to guests’ breakfasts and other meal requirements, and the premises has a large outdoor swimming pool and a communal thatched Lapa with a large braai (barbecue) area.

I had a lovely stay at Manley. The business is under transition of ownership, I am looking forward to seeing what amazing transformation awaits this resort. Markus and Elias, the new owners are very hands on. You can get a private wine tasting from any of them, or their very talented winemaker Joshua. The rooms are nice and spacious, very accommodating. The setting is simply stunning. The authenticity of this place is what makes a stay at Manley stand out in the area. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, Ria can cook the best food. While the restaurant is not “fancy” the quality of the food makes up for everything else. Make sure to try the bobotie and the malva pudding. :) I had a great time and I can highly recommend it +++++

We visited Manley estate mid March 2021 over a long weekend. Ria called us on Saturday morning about a slight mishap, but said she is working on it. When we arrived we where treated like royalty, and the mishap she warned us about, turned out to be a big bonus for us! We enjoyed our stay at Manley and over the 3 days we met and interact with just about all the staff. All of them were friendly and we really cannot find fault with anything. We visited the "Bush pub" down the road, and it was a bit noisey, (A bachelor party was underway), we enjoyed the "flatlander" friendliness :-) Tulbagh is close to Ceres, so we visited there as well.

Excellent stay at Manley Lodge. We were 12 people in our group. Very comfortable cottage and rooms and very clean. Service excellent. Ria was very hospitable and the staff members very friendly. Located very central and in safe surroundings. We had a lovely braai at the lapa . We enjoyed the stay so much. We will be back again. Highly recommended.
