Well organized welcome, we arrived on 31st Dec but the instructions to pick-up the key and clear guidance was easy to follow.
The house is big and especially when you have a lot of small children with an upstairs that has 4 beds in 1 room.
Garden and braai are cozy and wel equipped as it was warm we spend quite some time outside.
Reason for not giving a 5 star is the street in front of the house is a bit messy and we had a fly invasion in the kitchen.
Definitely a house we would go back too

I Loved my stay at Big Sky Villa. The house is very clean and well appointed. Perfect for a big family or large group of friends. Lovely garden with a pool to cool down in and many communal rooms for socialising or escaping into for a quiet area to read and relax. The house is centrally located with easy access to shops and nearby wine farms. I highly recommend this property

I would not recommend staying here. We had a terrible stay. So much so that we left early. Covid-19 regulations were not adhered to. The service was unprofessional and unreasonable. Very disappointed at how I was treated and feel I wasted a lot of money and a whole month of my life at Big Sky Villa. The internet was also not great. Members of our household who had to work from home could not use it and had to use their phones as a hotspot and buy extra data.

I would NEVER have these guests back at the Villa. They booked and paid for 4 adults and 1 child with 2 dogs. They invited 3 extra adults and 1 extra child and did not pay for them. Our booking system clearly states that you pay per guest. They also used various items from our HONESTY JAR and did not pay for it. They did not pick any dog poo up the day they left and they left the house in a total mess. Broken numerous ornaments, a window, messed ink on the material couch, broken various other items in the house, damaged 2 duvet covers, and some pillowcases. I have never experienced such a mess and destruction. Their dogs damaged the antique front door. The only reason for them giving these bad reviews is because I am suing them for all the damages and for the extra guests. Total amount outstanding R13 965,55. My attorney's are dealing with them. Our internet has never been a problem. We use Breedenet uncapped 4meg line.

The old saying of first impressions lasts forever is true when you step foor into this GEM of a house.Nestled in the picturisque town of Tulbach we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.As with all getaways you leave feeling it was TOO SHORT.
The beautiful house with its old caratiristics are mindblowing. The rooms are spacious and imaculate.Cleanliness and qaulity can be felt throughout. We realy realy enjoyed our stay and will HIGHLY RECOMEND Big Sky Villa. It is affordable and very very good qaulity for what you pay.
We will definately be back. And next time for longer for SURE!!!!!

We rented big sky villa for a whole month, 24th June - 24th July. The idea was to escape from the big city during lockdown, and find some tranquility at this hard time. My husband was in a severe motorcycle accident, which left him with 8 broken bones and a bad attitude and my sister in law and her husband had both lost their jobs. Big sky villa became a trap rather an escape. I’ve themed this review, profiteering, surveillance and an unsafe place to stay:

1. Profiteering: Nelia, the lettings agent, negotiated the price for a five bedroom house down from R20,000 a month to R12,500. On the 15th July, halfway through our stay, Nelia banged on the door, screaming bloody murder. We had stayed in more than two beds, so we would have to pay more. Of course nowhere was this stipulated in our contract, that by renting a five bedroom house, we could only use two of the bedrooms. Then followed a deluge of nasty contact; we had broken an ornament, we would have to pay (there are several thousand ornaments in the house, I am still unsure to what she was referring). A window had broken in a storm, we would have to pay. She sent two invoices, both different, half way through our stay, with random deposit amounts making up to R12,500. All while we were still staying at the property, with demands to pay “in 72 hours” and then “7 days on receipt”. Nelia stopped paying for the electricity, so we were out of pocket for that too. She made our stay hell.
2. Surveillance: the above raises the issue of why this correspondence was made during our stay, not after, when an outgoing inspection had been made? Nelia sent a lady to clean on Monday, she sent a gardener on Wednesday and on Fridays she arrived to “clean the pool.” We overheard both the gardener and cleaning lady giving reports on how clean the towels were, and whether we had cleaned the sheets ourselves. We were constantly being watched.
3. Unsafe: The DB board tripped constantly, because it cannot handle the electric load of the house, which is illegal. The front steps were so slippy in the rain, my husband (with the broken bones) fell and smashed his head. The entire house was non-COVID compliant. (No hand sanitiser, thousands of miscellaneous and unnecessary objects strewn about). The neighbour had a party on a Saturday night that ended in a man being beaten in the street.

In her haste to make money, Nelia forgot some of the rules of basic human decency, and treated us like cows to be milked. It was horrible.

I never screened on them or banged on the front door. I have a witness to our discussion that morning. No issues with our DB board, as we do have a COC for the property. If you overload any plugs, the safety switch will trip. That is normal. They ran heaters and all appliances without consideration of saving energy. GUESTS STRAIGHT FROM HELL.

Really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend to others. Well priced, neat, comfy and cosy, and the capacity to take many people but in a lovely cottage atmosphere. The main street with all the historic Cape Dutch houses is 5 min walk away with lovely restaurants along it.

Stayed with a group of 8 over Christmas after being moved from a local wine farm due to problems.
An efficient and very friendly welcome to a very well equipped, clean, spacious villa of character.
Easy to walk into the centre of the small town of Tulbach to shops and restaurants.
Would highly recommend for a large party to stay in.
