lovely big room with a shared balcony...big bathroom with spa bath, however with the chronic water shortages in this area don’t believe it is environmentally friendly to abuse this! In fact all other B&Bs we have stayed in have removed the plugs!
Breakfast here was fine and staff friendly. Our on,y slight complaint was as soon as we walked into the house there was a pervasive small of curry which was even in our room?

From an indoor braai on a windy day topped off with a jacuzzi early the following morning. spacious room with a walk in closet that definitely caters for residents staying longer than a few nights.
The hosts were so welcoming, at the end of the stay it felt like i am leaving home.

I am a frequent traveller, travelling for business and pleasure both in RSA as well as abroad and must say this was definitely hands down one of my best experiences.

A friend and I booked to go and see the flowers on the West Coast. I booked a night with Jacques Cook at Alabaster, paid within 24 hours of booking and got an email and WhatsApp message from Jacques confirming our booking. When we arrived at Alabaster BnB the afternoon of our booking there was no one there to check us in. After waiting half an hour Irene arrived and had no record of our booking. I showed her the email from Jacques confirming our booking and she was apologetic and booked us into another BnB close by as they were fully booked. She gave us a free night for another time as compensation for their mistake and overbooking. We made a date for our free nights accommodation there and then for a month later. I phoned Irene mid month to check our free night booking was still ok and she confirmed it. Less than 24 hours before our nights accommodation I got a message from the owner of the BnB we had been out up in before, to say we were not getting our free night as Alabaster was fully booked! Twice we have been treated shockingly by this disgusting BnB and never once an apology from Jacques Cook - he does not even respond to emails or WhatsApp messages. He is also underhanded as we wanted yo book via Daddys Deals and he asked us rather to book and pay with him directly so he did not have to pay them commission! I would avoid this place at all costs, given their shockingly disgusting customer service!

We booked and paid our 50% deposit first week of December for the 25th Xmas day. We arrived a little early an hour early and guess to our surprise we were turned back rooms were not ready. We booked about 5 rooms in this b&b and we came a bit later you could feel the unwelcoming gesture there were no greetings from the host. The important issue was to pay the rest of the money. The owner was not nice but rude and racist to us as if we invaded their space, upto a point she came out to tell us we didn’t book the whole house. I have no issue of her talking to us but it’s the way she came out and said it she was fuming 😡 and very disrespectful. I truly don’t recommend no one to go through what we went through!!! She needs to go and get training on how to deal with people in this business if she wants to succeed and honestly the colour or race that she dislikes so much is the one that will boost her business in the future.

Response from Dominic Cooks, General Manager at Alabaster Box B&B

Alabaster Box B&B <info@alabasterbox.co.za> 10:45 AM (4 minutes ago) to me Good day Kindly note that your were informed that check in is at 2pm and when you arrived you told me, the manager, not the receptionist that you just want to see where the B&B is situated. Later on Christmas evening when asked to lower your music we actually heard it louder than before from our private room as well as receiving complaints from the other guests. The rules have been sent to you that there will be no loud noise tolerated after 10PM nevermind the shouting. Please note that nothing was racial but rather the incompliance to the rules that was sent to Lesedi. When you were checking in it is not that I wanted to get it over and done with but me standing there while your card declined and you talking to each other trying to make a plan to do the payment for about 15 minutes. The owner of the house is on vacation from PTA and I’m the host who will be interacting and welcoming the guests. The next morning you checked out at 12PM after being aware that check out is at 11AM and leaving us with a bed that had been urinated on without the decency to inform us. See this response to each of your bad reviews as each one of you left one. Just a recommendation, if you would like to play loud music until late and have guests over rather book a self catering unit/house and not a guesthouse with other guests staying there. Kind regards D Cooks

We booked, paid and confirmed to stay at the establishment on the 21st September. This was a 60th birthday celebration weekend. On arrival we were told that there was a double booking and they could not accommodate us. Irene who worked there quickly arranged an alternative BnB for us to sleep at. She also offered us a free night which we gladly accepted. A week ago we called to confirm and were assured all was in order. We went ahead, making celebratory arrangements with friends only to receive a call the day before we were to go there that they had again double booked and could not accommodate us. All plans had to be cancelled at the last minute. Absolutely unacceptable and shocking lack of service. Still waiting for replies to all emails and WhatsApp messages sent to the owner of the establishment on the 21st when the first booking was botched! I would not recommend this BnB at all!

Very nice home to stay at. I enjoyed the room, food and friendliness of the hosts. They packed a very nice lunch pack for me. The check-in was flexible (I had to arrive a bit later in the evening). Hosts also gave me insightful information about activities in the area.

I have stayed there a number of times before, however this last visit from 25-28 July 2022 was unpleasant. I paid the 50% deposit on 21 March 2022 and Dominic Cooks, although the booking had been confirmed, knowingly took the full payment from a friend, without informing him that the deposit had already been paid. After several inquiries and refusal to refund the unlawful charge, the situation was only resolved on 8 September. Totally unacceptable. They also misadvertise the view of the lagoon, which can only be seen from the balcony of the "honeymoon suite", which by the way, does not even have a bathroom! Most overated gueshouse in Langebaan. I will never stay there again, nor will I recommend this place to anybody.
Stay away!

Me and my girlfriend slept at the BnB and where welcomed with open arms. We felt like we where at home. When we arrived we where greater by 2 friendly faces, we where told that they are the new owners. I must say the cleanliness of the room was excellent and so was the breakfast. We were asked at what time we would like our food and no other BnB has asked us that. Overall I recommend this guest house to all.
