Overlooking the tranquil Langebaan Lagoon, The Farmhouse Hotel is an unique, character filled historic farmstead. Here, the focus is on creating a quality stay with unique additions that add to the cherished memories we look forward to sharing with you. No traditional reception. No chocolates on your pillow. Instead, you can look forward to plenty of natural light and fresh air, butler style service, walks through our West Coast inspired garden or along the cliff path that borders the hotel, the smell of freshly baked bread and traditional 'moer koffie' and sunsets from our stoep, the perfect way to mark the end of another day well spent on the West Coast.

The hotel is a lovely old property with fascinating artefacts in its so-called 'museum', which lends a great deal of charm and interest. It's set high up above the lagoon with wonderful views and plenty of outdoor space for good weather. The garden backs onto the coastal path, so really handy for walking.

However, we came in (sunny) mid winter and our room was the coldest place we have ever stayed. It made it rather unpleasant to be in for any length of time, due to the failure of management/owners to enable heating the room adequately. On account of the severity of lockdown regulations and staff shutting up the common areas early, it meant we had to endure the cold for long periods of the late afternoon and evening, as there was nowhere else to go in the hotel after (early) dinner.

We also noticed that the hotel in general is in dire need of TLC and maintenance attention (to echo another review from earlier this year). Handles fell off twice in different places during our short stay and there were quite a few minor niggles, such as very poor lighting in our room and bathroom meaning it was difficult to read and see clearly to shave, stained sheets and sofas and things that didn't work properly, such as what looked like a comprehensive TV service.....that only played local news and adverts, as it seemed the hotel hadn't subscribed to any interesting channels. Disappointing.
There was another quite annoying aspect: the surround-sound, non-stop canned music which was monotonous and repetitive, seeming to seep into every corner of the hotel from the downstairs bar/reception area. You might as well have installed speakers in our bedroom, we could hear it that clearly. Please get someone who understands music to choose a more inspiring playlist !

Again to echo an earlier review, the saving grace was the restaurant, La Petite Maison: independently owned and run with a French chef and French trained South African owner. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and professional. The restaurant was responsible for our breakfasts and dinners and I have to say, without this, we might be giving the Farmhouse only 2 stars.

It appears that the hotel may be trading purely on its location and history, but it would really transform it if the owners spend a bit of money upgrading and maintaining it adequately. A final positive comment: the staff were friendly and helpful, for which we are grateful.

The Farmhouse Cottages are stunning, the service is brilliant and location amazing. You cannot go wrong. The cottages are beautifully decorated with all the self catering requirements, clean, hygenic and they have made sure the guests feel conmfortable and safe.

From the time we arrived this The Farm House hotel did not disappoint. The receptionist went out of her way to accommodate our group of 11. Perfectly located to access the WCNP, close to all amenities and within walking distance to the main beach.
The restaurant, Le Petite Maison, run by a French couple, opened just 8 months ago, was delightful and well priced. One would be hard pressed to find tastier more beautifully plated food. The maitre de (and owner) made special meals for the fussy children. When ordering a bottle of wine (well priced) Amuse-Bouche are creatively served on skilfully carved wooden bird platters. Not a morsel of food remained on anyone's plate which is testimony to just how scrumptious the meals were. The rooms facing the pool were nicely sized, tastefully decorated and the fire place was charming at night.
We watched the rugby in the charming bar area, filled with memorabilia and photos. The complimentary tea and home made scones and jams on the patio, overlooking the lagoon were delicious after an active day out!

Stayed in Lavender house. 2 Bedrooms. Very neat with everything needed for self catering. Indoor braai area in this unit. Pets allowed for those with dogs. Wifi good with TV and some satellite channels. Close to beach and shops and restaurants. Entrance via the gate and parking is onstreet if you dont get in early as the inside parking area is also for the other guests and not very big. Parking outside was safe though and no issues. They have an area outside to wash off any kite surfing equipment as well.

We booked in for one night only for my birthday. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent value for money, with 3 course meal for dinner and full breakfast included in the price, which was so professionally served in our bedroom due to lockdown.
The view from the hotel is magnificent. It is unpretentious with many antique furnishings. It felt like home away from home. Absolutely excellent on all levels and highly recommended.

Kite basecamp is a great place for budget kiters to stay. Everything you need is there with a good view of the Lagoon. The containers are very comfortable with outside braai area and parking right outside.

Highly recommended - fantastic view in a charming restored farmhouse. Make sure you eat dinner and breakfast as the restaurant (owner managed) serves up fine dining meals at fair prices!!! Staff were attentive and hospitable. Looking forward to staying again.

Check at reception was unhelpful by male on duty. He stated check in was 3pm as opposed to website advertising 2pm. Aircon not working, no sink plug in bathroom and none forthcoming after reporting it. We stayed 2 nights and 2nd day the fireplace was not cleaned and we had to request toilet paper.
First night after dinner, we were told by a staff member to please use the front entrance (which was out into the rain) to get back to our room, rather than the side door which they had just locked. It couldn’t have been that late as we started dinner at 6pm. If not for the restaurant run privately and independently on the premises, we might not have returned a second time.
The privately owned and run le petit Maison has outstandingly good food and service.

My husband and I took advantage of a "Date Night" special the hotel was running and we had a wonderful experience. Our room was incredibly spacious, and sparkling clean when we checked in. We had a gorgeous view of the lagoon. The bed was comfortable and the wifi connection was good. The special included a voucher for dinner at the restaurant, La Petite Maison, and the food was delicious, as well as the breakfast, which was also included. We also enjoyed tea and scones on the veranda overlooking the lagoon in the afternoon. Would definitely recommend this spot for a nice weekend escape.

My husband and I spent 3 nights, along with our 10 month old, at the Farmhouse Hotel. We were very impressed with the beautiful location right on the lagoon with a lovely walk in front. Our room was cosy with a fireplace and the hotel provided a camp cot for our baby. The breakfast was excellent and the dinner delicious too. We were also served scones and tea / coffee in the lounge which was really nice and having sundowners on the front porch is so special as well.
