This experience for us was so disappointing. Two tired parents of small kids we finally managed to get a night away. This is advertised as a four star hotel - it is absolutely not. On arrival we were told the TV in our room didn't work - the hotel was half empty, if you know guests are going into a room that dooesnt have a working TV then swop it with one that does work?

The view from the room is ruined with a dirty old table top lying around, and a dump pile in the parking lot.

The bathroom has taps falling off and paint peeling.

The entire room had nicks and cracks and just lacked maintenence.

The next morning we felt like some coffee there is a kettle and tea and coffee pouches but then no milk? Hairdryer is supplied but no adapter for it?

Then the worst part. Waiting for our hot breakfast we went to put some bread in the toaster. Alot of the slices had mold on them! This put us off the entire breakfast we left and went somewhere else to get a breakfast.

I would not reccomend this hotel and will definitely not be back. Disappointed!

We took advantage of a good deal on Daddy's Deal, so our room rate was very reasonable. I am in a wheelchair and great care was taken to ensure that our room was easily accessible and easy to move around. The hotel is old and could use a bit of redecorating but our room was large, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. A good breakfast before we left. My husband very much enjoyed his swim in the natural pool and the gardens looked lovely..

The Riebeek Valley Hotel has now rebranded as the Riebeek Valley Country Retreat. I suppose many moons ago it was this very grand colonial style luxury hotel, but it is not that anymore. The grounds are great with lots of trees and lawns, but the buidling needs lots of TLC.
We were put into room 1, which is a so-called superior suite, but to get there you need to navigate lots of narrow hallways and staircases. The room is huge with lots of antique furniture, but it is clear the carpet is as old as the building and it needs a deep-clean. The bathroom is also huge with a functioning toilet dating from the 1920's and a clawfoot bath, but the marble tiles are cracked and a shower in the bathroom would be a great addition. The aircon in the room is not effective for the size of the room. I could only find one channel on the small TV.
They only serve breakfast, which is OK.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

We are from Hermanus and wanted to enjoy a 2-night stay in Riebeek West, only to be met with disappointment at the Riebeek Valley hotel. The hotel's website is outdated and photos on various sites do not match the reality of the place. It does not look as nice as it does in the photos. Our aircon wasn't working, and when we went looking for assistance, there was no-one in sight to help us. By 6pm, we were (what felt like) the only people in the hotel with no staff in sight. The toiletries provided in the bathroom were not enough for 2 people, and there was only 1 bath robe given for a 2 person room. We do not recommend staying here. We decided to pack up and leave before spending the night there.

Overall not a bad experience. Although breakfast was a winner it was disappointing that dinner wasnt served and we had to drive to go and get something to eat. The rooms were clean however there was no remote for the aircon nor did the aircons work. The pool area nor the pool was clean. Shocked to see the state of the garden. The four star rating the hotel had is clearly not a four star any more. Lots of work needs to be done on the property in order to attract customers. The poor parrot also has been moved outside to the back where the pool is. It used to be on the front porch. There were a few patrons watching the SA vs Whales game but doubt there would have been any if there wasnt a "big" game.

Beautiful gardens but rooms are
Old and tired and need a lot of work. Breakfast service was non existent unless you went looking for someone and we didn’t have our rooms cleaned once over 3 nights. Very poor and do not recommend.

The Hotel has a good location and a tremendous potential, but quite a bit of time and money would have to be spent to bring it up to scratch and attract more people. The place is a treasure trove if you like antiques and takes one back more than 100 years. It is very attractive for the older generation and brings back memories. Definitely a place to visit again.

We have visited Riebeeck Valley Hotel a number of times and unfortunately this will be the last. The room we were given was not up to standard. It had a bath but no shower- down some steps. The TV did not work at all. When we called for service there was no answer. When we called the original number we got forwarded to someone on "standby" that said there is nothing they can do as they are not onsite. We could not get another room as we were on a Daddys Deal. The place was deserted...other people staying over were asking about getting ice, or getting a drink as it was hot...but their was not a soul taking care of their customers. It certainly has fallen away and is also unsafe as their is no control. Terribly disappointed.

We stayed 2 nights at Riebeek Valley Hotel. The room in which we stayed was beyond what we expected - very spacious with a beautiful lounge area, very comfortable bed and a charming bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, providing food for all tastes and preferences. The venue where the function was held provided a relaxed and private space and overall, the hotel has a very peaceful atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to ensure all our needs to catered for. We can highly recommend Riebeek Valley Hotel for your next visit to this beautiful part of the Cape.
