The location is beautiful, two fields arround the lodge with zebras and ostriches. The hotel manager Anna takes care of every detail in the room and of your stay in general. Amazing food (even in comparison to 5 star hotels around the world), very clean and beautiful rooms (with flowers on all the towels and in every room), lovely staff. Highlight is the most romantic breakfast spot you have ever seen: Under a huge tree with a big breakfast selection while whatching the animals. (in Reality it looks like paradise) Next time we have to stay there longer!

This place is just incredible. The view, the food, the wonderful crew and the overall experience is beyond excellent. We were looked after very well. The suite was kept clean and tidy at least 3 times a day. We were left to go about our own business, enjoying the facilities, the long walks, the serenity of the place whilst being kept company by ostriches, wildebeest, giraffes and more. You can do as much or as little as you want. They offer activities to include trips to Kruger National Park. Internet is available in the restaurant area. Log fires add to the charm. The interior decor is beautiful. A minimum of 2 nights stay is highly recommended.

The highlight of our time in the North East of South Africa took place at the end. We had 5 fantastic days at Zaragoza Lodge. Our Garden Suite is a dream, breakfast is the best it can be. Every wish was almost fulfilled, the same was true for the dinner in the evening, simply wonderful. In the evening a campfire was made. Sitting on the terrace, watching the animals (giraffes, zebras, ostriches, etc.) nearby. Giraffes came near the terrace in the mornings and evenings. We recommend the Bush walk, game drive into the mountains, an experience even in fog... and the farm trip. Our Ranger Hugo was top. Knowing and very humorous. The same goes for the second Ranger Frank. The cook, whether breakfast or dinner, it was all very varied and tasteful, well stocked every evening, deserves a special praise! Also Anna and Siya are to be emphasized who brought a super service in the morning, during the day and in the evening. Also the other with names not known, in particular the chambermaids, one must mention very praiseworthy. All in all a wonderful stay and a big thank you.

We booked here as a stopover between Joburg and Kruger so were not expecting too much but we were very pleasantly suprised. It is a very relaxing place with excellent food and service. You are not going to see the Big Five but the rangers are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. You can watch the wildlife from your veranda. We would definately stay again but for a bit longer.

Right at the beginning of our four-week trip through South Africa, we got married in Zaragoza Game Reserve.
It was a wedding, as we could not have imagined better. During the preparation, the owner, Jens Demmler and Anna, the hotel manager, supported us far beyond the norm. They took care of all the necessary formalities and were always available for all questions by mail or by phone, even on weekends.
On our trip we saw many other, also very nice hotels and Game Reserves. But we agree with our two friends and groomsmen that we could not have found a more beautiful location for our wedding! It was just fantastic: the wedding at the lake (under observation of three hippos!), the reception by the staff with African wedding songs, the great wedding cake, the bridal bouquet, the fantastic dinner together with all the other guests and much more. Jens gave us a wonderful day together with the whole team. It was far away from home, but it was together with friends! A big thank you to everyone for this wonderful day!
But even without a wedding Zaragoza is a great place that we would recommend to all: relaxing by the pool and in the evening by the campfire, a fantastic kitchen with products from the garden, exciting tours with the rangers Hugo and Frank, large and tastefully decorated rooms, a large and lovingly landscaped garden and above all a service that makes every stay an unforgettable experience.

Well located for a getaway into the Bush without having to travel on the poor roads to other reserves on the Hoedspruit route. It's literally a few meters off the N4, about 20km from Waterfall Boven.
Stayed for 3 nights. Best meal was the fillet, with the rest being average to good. Wine selection was limited (No Cabernet) with huge mark ups. The "Game drive" was more of a "nature drive" which ended with seeing Hippo in the dam - naturally a highlight. Excellent service from highly committed and dedicated staff.

I can only describe Saragossa Game Lodge as - Food For The Soul! This awesome reserves is situated in a valley between beautiful mountains. A huge open plain stretches out in front of the lodge teeming with wildlife - like a little Serengeti. Rooms are extremely comfortable, large and immaculately maintained. Dining is an out of this world experience - world class. The staff and hostess offer the friendliest and most relaxing service creating a sense of being special without being intrusive. We had a lovely evening sitting around a huge fire, joined by the owner,Jens who offered amazing information about the reserve. Saragossa you rock! This as to be no. 1 on the list for all travelers looking for an exceptional, world class experience in the bush. experience

Spent weekend with family in this great game reserve. A mere 2.5 hrs drive from Jo'burg. Every aspect of the reserve is beautifully designed and maintained. The atmosphere chilled, the amenities in superb condition. Nothing is overbearing and yet every aspect is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
The snacks and the choice of Gins served at the pool were special (and much needed after the grim week at the office). A sweeping view from the hotel onto a grass plane that is teeming with wildlife. On the game drive we meandered through beautiful landscape, from one lush hill to the next valley, to spot an infant Giraffe, to count curious hippos and to watch buck mingling.
Jens heads up a friendly, professional and knowledgeable team. The cuisine is world-class - ask for the chicken pie! (and all is grown on-site).
Since it is a pleasant drive from Joburg, we will definitely return to do the hike and look for more frogs (and learn how to catch scorpions).

We spend 2 days at Saragossa on the way to Kruger Park after a long international flight. It was a perfect choice to relax. The reserve is beautiful, small but with a lot of wildlife. The room was great just next to the lake with many animals that arrives to drink. Spectacular!.
Service was outstanding, food was outstanding. The Chef was really amazing.
All together- outstanding experience- the best we had in South Africa!
