Detailed Reviews
Pierre the host was simply magnificent, it felt like meeting my long lost brother. We drank at the well stocked bar for a couple of hours before he cooked a superb dinner. Breakfast was also just perfect.
The place is really neat, plenty of bungalows set in a lush oasis surrounded by very tall trees.
The room was great, very comfy bed with crisp clean linens and good water pressure for the shower.
If you’re travelling from Joburg to Kruger or Swazi then this is the ideal stop. I will certainly be returning, no question.
Thank you Pierre, you’re a great guy providing fantastic accommodation at a sensible price.

Accomodation was exactly what was advertised- we felt safe, welcomed and accommodated for. Very close to all the fun local activities in the area. We went down for a provincial mountain bike race and the town was buzzing with excitement it was nice to come back to Wayside Lodge for a good rest and recharge after long days in the bikes. We will absolutely go back, we can't wait.

We stayed at Wayside Lodge on the way to the Kruger National Park and on our return trip.
Pierre and Sally were gracious hosts we enjoyed chatting to them on our evenings there. They went out of their way to look after us ladies.

Excellently located hotel next to the N4 with a beautiful large garden where you will not be bothered by traffic. Ample parking options. Warm welcome; fine meal and nice bar. Very good hotel for the price. Good wifi even in our room (although it is not stated as such on the booking.com site). Also a flatscreen tv in the room.

Good location between Johannesburg and Kruger. Privileged environment. The landlord was very kind and made us dinner even though we arrived late. The rooms were spacious and clean. There is a good quality price relation.

What a comfortable and relaxed place to stay over on your way to Kruger. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They provide a full on braai at reasonable prices. The well stocked bar is full of character. All this at reasonable prices. The only negative is the sound of trucks rumbling by on the N4.

Some reset time for us ...we got more than we were expecting. If the owner of the lodge meets you at the door - you know - these people do care

With my interest in the Boer War, there is no better place to stay when visiting the battle-fields in the area. There are a number of battle-0fields and cemeteries within easy driving distance and I believe that the lodge could market an experience - even if it is a 1-day outing, covering Boer War 'activities'
