We stayed over with friends, the value was ok , the hotel is old and was built long time ago and it’s nice like that but they need to Maintain the interior in rooms especially the bathrooms, the mould building along bath tubs is not cool and the shower arrangement that spreads water on the floor must be fixed by renovating and put some modern touch in some things and it will draw more crowds. The Dining area, food , all was fine but very expensive, everything from beverage to meals is expensive. Overall it’s a great place...

The staff’s hospitality was the best, but the food and rooms didn’t match our expectations. We booked 8 rooms and none of them had bar fridges and aircon wasn’t working. Meals were buffet but chef at breakfast was dishing up for us and limiting us!!

Dear Valued GUESTS Thank you for taking time to participate in our GUESTS survey and to give us feedback about your experience during your stay with us. We have noted all your issues raised and especially the Bar fridges. The hotel doesn't have fridges in for all rooms, however we have the fridge's available for when GUESTS request and we apologise that upon your check they were all in use and we have noted in your profile that in the future we have some available for your rooms. In regards to the buffet we are making sure that we maintain the safety of our GUESTS at all times as well as the STAFF in making one persons dishing up instead of all. We are appreciate your comments and trust you visit again. Best Regards Ozwane Mahlangu General Manager

The Fortis Hotel Malaga is such a beautiful Spanish type hotel with the most beautiful gardens and wide spread mountain ranges. The crystal clear pool was so inviting especially with the amazing weather we had. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the room is so amazing with its little balcony overlooking the beauty which nature has to offer. I cannot wait to go back again.

Such a stunning backdrop and lovely gardens. This place gives the impression of a grand old hotel that was loved by someone once....but not any more.
Black mold on the bathroom ceiling, a leaky shower. Hair dryer didn't work properly - cold air only. Cold white lightbulbs in the rooms give more of an atmosphere of a hospital than a hotel.
Room service was slow, the malva pudding almost completely cooled down after heating, and the ice cream and "bar one sauce" was very low quality ice cream and squeezy bottle chocolate syrup, not bar one sauce. Totally overpriced for the quality.
The staff were cold and most looked away when smiled at, or avoided eye contact entirely. There was one friendly receptionist at checkout (one out of the two standing there) - after such chilly service we were thrilled to see a friendly face, that's how out of place her smile was.
Lots of details make this place seem like it's just not loved or perhaps just not well managed, or else out of money entirely. Black marks on the wall above the guest lounge fireplace. Xbox there for the kids but apparently intermittently not working, judging from the disappointed kids sitting around, and the questions we heard asked at reception. To be honest, we'd have felt a lot more kindly towards the whole place just if the reception staff had been friendlier on arrival. The lack of welcome coloured our view of everything else after that....although it would still have been hard to look past the black mold.

My friend had some business to do in Mpumalanga and so I decided to go along. We reserved rooms to stay at Malaga Hotel. Although Malaga did not have power for 2 days, they had a generator and so our experience was minimally disturbed by the outage. It was really hot when we got there and the pool was a welcome distraction from the blistering heat.

While at the pool we ordered the Peri Peri Chicken pizza and the base was extremely thick, so we were well disappointed with our lunch, but for dinner we ordered the wings with salad and fries and this made up for our horrible pizza experience.

The rooms are basic yet serviced, note that there is no wifi inside the rooms, especially the rooms far away from reception, which was a bother as we were traveling for work. The hotel is just off the highway, so be prepared to hear trucks and other vehicles on the road at night.
Overall, it was an okay experience and the staff, especially Mandla was kind.

The hotel is in a great environment, the reception ladies are quite friendly. The rooms need more equipment eg fridges, glasses, microwaves etc. We didn't know what to do with the dishes after room service. I think every room should have a menu readily available in the room, its not nice having to go out to the kitchen every time you want to order something

We can't praise this cute hotel enough. We were a big group and from the moment we arrived we only received good service.

We also had big function the evening with a buffet style dinner which was really delicious.

The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable which makes it really good value for money.

I don't even know where to begin with this review! But I had such a WOW experience visiting this Hotel. I had two hotels to choose from, but this place made such an incredible first impression, I had to go with them. Shout out to their staff for being so welcoming and accommodating. It was people like Refiloe, Nonhlanhla, Mr. Mandla Phakathi and Ms. Ozwane that made our experience such a lovely one. They really made sure that we were happy throughout our stay and on top of that, they arranged something special for my birthday when we were at dinner. It really felt like home away from home. I am not typically a fan of hotel food, but their food was amazing! It really is such a peaceful place to stay at, the views are so beautiful! The rooms are spacious and their beds are so comfortable. Fortis Hotel Malaga, I am thoroughly impressed. They really made our experience an enjoyable one! It is indeed a must visit!

Saturday Night there was a LOUD party.... Women screaming, banging on the doors, Men fighting outside our door at 3am... people chanting! We did not sleep much .

We made a spa appointment at reception, when we arrived all the staff went home and we had to reschedule.
We also asked about the sonar, and were told she would ask her manager and come back to us, but we never got feedback... they said they called the room but we can't sit in the room and wait for feedback for 4-6 hours, they should've called us on our phone.
