This is a secret gem in the heart of Mpumalanga, we spent the Easter weekend with 7 families (booked off entire lodge) it was very clean, spacious and catered for all our needs. If you visit be sure to take advantage of the rock pool (the kids will love it) enjoy the evening as well by the summer house (they have a fire pit and braai area) the lodge itself is very spacious with a braai area, dining, lounge (with fire place), Patio (spacious) and bar. The space allows your family and friends to find their own space to either relax and enjoy. Our host (Gerald) was very helpful and more so the staff (Mavis, Sunday, Goodness and George) for a fee they will prepare all meals. The rooms are spacious with fire places, spacious bathroom with outside showers (bathtub if its too cold to shower outside) with a patio that allows you to have a lovely coffee in the morning. Activites at the lodge include hiking, swimming, they have a trampoline and there are lots of places to visit nearby. Note that the area has poor signal (which was a plus for us) but this was not a deal breaker for us. Overall a fantastic stay for us and the the family plus group of friends. Last thing / best part, the fact that you can book the lodge out completely (especially due to Covid) is a plus as you are 100% comfortable that you and your family are safe at all times. We are definitely going to be back!!!

This affordable, well kept country lodge is a beautiful piece of unspoilt nature lending itself to relaxation in a tranquil environment. The cottage offers the luxurious trimmings of a five star hotel while feeling like home (silky linen, thick towels, bath robe included). The plunge pool offers a private view of the surrounding mountains in an oasis of nature. The only minor concern is the lack of WiFi and limited signal access, which can only be accessed by visiting the nearby lodge on condition that it is unoccupied. Either way, I absolutely loved my stay and will certainly be back.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Heysbrook Country Lodge with a group of 9 adults and 4 children. The spot allowed for the entire group to have an enjoyable time and catered for all our needs. The rooms and en-suite bathrooms feel so luxurious and the spacious lodge literally catered for every season. We had a beautiful lunch potjie at the Summer house next to the river, where the kids could play and we had an afternoon filled with beautiful views and serenity whilst watching the sunset. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and made our stay perfect! There is no spot that is better value for money than Heysbrook and we will undoubtedly be back.

Our long weekend trip to Heysbrook lodge was one of the best family weekends we have ever had. It’s the perfect combination of farm living with hotel luxuries.
The lodge is fully equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing stay. Swimming towels, dart board, coffee machines, hairdryers, bath soaps to name a few and everything else a 5 star hotel would offer. The very friendly and helpful on-site staff are available 24/7 to clean, unpack, or anything you need assistance with.

Our favourites were the wonderfully hot outside showers with a view of mountains in the distance and most of all the Summer House which is the perfect place to spend summer days. It has a fully equipped kitchen, braai, bathroom and bonfire. Kids can keep themselves entertained for hours playing the stream and fresh rock pool.

The entertainment area lends itself to large groups with the bar and lounge/dining room area all leading out onto the gorgeous patio.

The rooms are spacious and all have a fireplace and private patio.

There are hikes and other activities in the nearby area to keep you occupied for longer stays. We tackled the very steep hike up to the old mine which was well worth it and a wonderful way to spend the morning.

This is the perfect place to relax, turn off your cellphone and just laze around spending time with family and friends.

We will be back every year!

Heysbrook gave our group a fantastic high quality venue for a birthday milestone. 14 good friends celebrated together and everyone loved the lodge, luxurious rooms and outdoor facilities. The outdoor showers were a winner as well as the summer place venue at the river with a fire to sit around and share good memories. The fireplace in the rooms interleading into the bathrooms must be amazing in the winter. Our group loved going on the walks along the river and swimming in the natural pools. So many hikes to do and activities, we could not get to everything in a short weekend. Everyone wants to go back and take their families and friends to this beautiful and tranquil nature spot. The scenery and surrounding and peace and quiet money can't buy. The staff were excellent and friendly, always around in the background to assist and make our stay a great one. Debbie was superb with the booking and responses and inevitable changes for group bookings. Thank you for making the celebration so special.

We had a great stay here over Easter with extended family (10 of us), and the lodge was if anything better than expected. Heysbrook is well set up to absorb groups of various sizes, as the rooms are separate to the 2 "lodges" you can book for your group, which have large exclusive spaces to hang out, cook, play games, swim etc. We stayed at Heys Lodge, which was the bigger space, and came with exclusive use of the "Summerhouse" how by the river, with river pool, bar, kitchen, toilet and braai areas. We barely saw the group of guests from the Bokani Forest Lodge, who had their own infinity pool and entertainment areas separate to ours. We didn't have to pick up after ourselves at all with the staff looking after us very well (there was even an option for them to cook for you, which we didn't use). Lots of walks on the property (be warned - lots of hills!) including a walk into the old gold mine up the hill, some indigenous Bokani ruins, and a lovely picnic site up top to walk or drive to (also with braai and toilet facilities).

Very well conceptualised on a lovely property.

This place is a hidden gem. From the welcoming staff who make you feel like you have returned home to the incredible decor of not only the lodge but each room. You have to try the outdoor shower and a bubble bath looking out into the bush. We spent a long weekend just relaxing by the river playing games and hiking the hills. Heysbrook is full of history of the Boer War and we could feel it all around us. It was so good to escape the city and recharge with friends & family. It was so good we definitely doing it again.

Stayed at Heysbrook for a weekend. The central lodge is magnificent and very spacious. The rooms are in stand alone chalets, also very spacious. Beautifully designed and built out of the natural stone in the area. Everything you need has been thought of and is there. Spending time at the summer pool house a short walk up the hill, with a natural rock pool, braais, deck chairs etc. all the cutlery & crockery you need etc. is a must. Nothing was too much trouble for Gerald and his friendly team. Really good value for what you get and totally exceeded our expectations. We will be back.

We went to Heysbrook as a group of 19 people, including children. We had the most amazing time. There was so much to explore that we hardly dented the opportunities - we will be back. The children rode their bikes and swam in the river. The food, masterfully prepared by Gerald, was amazing and over abundant.
But the most special aspect for me, was the peace. This is a perfect place to tune out and simply relax and commune with the nature.

Four families took over the lodge for our half term and we all had an incredible time. Walking, running, riding, swimming, games, laughs and great food and wine....something for everyone! The rooms are beautiful, the living area, patio and bar are all spacious and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. And thank you to the wonderful staff who looked after us - you made our weekend with your help.
