A truly hidden germ! We stopped here on a mountain bike tour through the Cape. The owner is so friendly and hospitable. We had the most amazing home made pizza and salad. Its worth the stop to see the waterfall and the old mill.

Great self-catering accommodation in this little gem of a village that is off the beaten track. Russel and Wendy are very hospitable hosts who will ensure that your stay is memorable. We will be back.

what a place to stay a couple of nights for absolute peace and relaxation. The cottage is well maintained and was spotlessly clean. Equipped with a 3 burner gas stove, fridge/freezer, gas warm water cylinder( shower and bath) and even a wood burner stove. The cottage is fully furnished and takes you back in time, thick wooden roof beams with reed ceilings and dung floors. Here you appreciate life and take in every moment of silence and do not even miss TV. Hats off to Russel and Penny for running this place and allowing other people to share this little gem,

We were looking for an off-the-grid new years away from screens, and this location was perfect for that. We cooked and tried out new recipes, read, braai-ed, star gazed, played board games, swam, explored the small town and surrounding landscape. We shopped for all our ingredients before coming to Van Wyksdorp, and the kitchen is so well equipped for cooking, so we had everything we needed. Each time we plan to stay even longer!

If you feel like getting out of the city and away from the town, this farm is a beautiful place for that. You can stay in a historic, restored cottage, swim in the dam, look at the extensive vegetable garden, and go for walks in the surrounding mountains. I really liked that I could cater for myself - the kitchen had everything I needed. Russell and Penelope were so generous and made me feel right at home. I am arranging to bring my family back for a long weekend to share this gem!
