The property was beautiful and on the river as advertised. The staff was great. The rooms were beautiful. I choose our room because they advertised a hot tub. It was a jacuzzi tub! Big difference! The big negative for me was the stairs to the 2nd and third floor. In Belize the rise in the steps can be very high. This was close to 12 inches. Climbing stairs is a challange for me at that height, and we were on the 3rd floor. Please consider this when choosing this hotel. They do offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and the meals were very good. They are very accomodating! It was a quiet place.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, wish we could have stayed longer. Property is just as pictured. The pool is lovely but we also swam in the river which was refreshing. We had some meals there and they were all delicious. Overall a wonderful place!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Mahogany Hall. The hotel is located on a beautiful river and is in a residential neighborhood ~10-15min from downtown San Ignacio. We stayed in the Colonial Suite which had a very old school colonial vibe and overlooked the river and created a very peaceful feeling. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a laid back accommodation in San Ignacio with nice lounge areas. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for a more conventional hotel/resort experience (large property, lots of staff, etc.). Pros: - Cool looking property - Only a short drive to downtown San Ignacio - Beautiful river right behind the property which sounds amazing - Nice lounge areas (chairs by the river, pool overlooking the river, hammocks, etc) - Good food Cons: - No screens on the doors/windows, which made me nervous about leaving them open at night - Poor wifi signal in the rooms. You need to go to the bar area - Location in a residential neighborhood feels a bit random - No safe in the room if you’re someone looking for that peace of mind Know Before You Go: - This property doesn’t really feel like a traditional hotel. For example, there is no lobby. We checked in at the bar. There also didn’t appear to be much staff, if any, late at night if you were to need something or if you’re someone who is worried about security. The term ‘resort’ is probably misleading. This is a boutique hotel property on a small plot along a beautiful river. It’s not a huge property with all the amenities you typically think of when you hear ‘resort’ - Location: The property is in a residential neighborhood, not amongst other hotels, restaurants, etc. If this bothers you, then I wouldn’t stay here. - The River: The riverfront is a public area (as are beaches in Belize) and also a popular spot for locals on weekends so you can expect a lot of mini cookouts going on outside the hotel (tables, grills, music, etc.). I enjoyed the fun atmosphere and thought it was a cool way to interact with the locals. For some, I could see the noise and activity on Sat/Sun being annoying. If you’re looking for a private secluded property with only guests around the premises then you won’t like this hotel on weekends.…
This hotel was in a beautiful location next to a river which I expected to be smaller, so I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely sweet and helpful , the food at the restaurant was excellent- extremely happy with every meal I had. The rooms were spacious and very pretty.
Our family of 3 stayed at Mahogany Hall for almost one month in July 2021. The location on the Mopan river is phenomenal. The hotel itself is wonderful. From the huge wooden door at the entrance to the hotel to our oversized room so nicely furnished with an incredibly comfortable bed, it offered us everything to keep us comfortable and safe during our stay. The housekeeping service was outstanding. We were able to get to know the owner Richard, Marsha, and Jose. It's easy to get to San Ignacio from Bullet Tree via multiple available taxis (there is a dedicated taxi service that goes back and forth between the two towns) and we were also able to explore quite a bit of Bullet Tree Falls itself walking along Paslow Falls Road and Bullet Tree Road. My entire family loves Mahogany Hall Resort and I highly recommend it. We will return.…
