Our family had a truly amazing time at Mystic River! The warm and knowledgeable tour guides (Oscar, Habias, Jose, and especially Mike!) made getting our children out to adventure so easy- we got to do much more than we expected with two tiny ones in tow. I can’t explain how happy my heart felt rambling on ruins, kayaking into a cave, and riding horses through the rainforest with my daughters. We also had the opportunity to visit the Belize Zoo, make chocolate, and stroll the market on our journeys to and fro. And when we were ready for down time each afternoon, the beautifully appointed pool area, yoga deck, and kayaks to paddle the river were waiting for us. Sylvia in the office was so friendly and helpful in arranging everything for us. The restaurant here is wonderful! Delicious food, and we even walked to the garden to see where most of the produce is grown right on site. We enjoyed every meal, watching the river flow by and toucans flit about in the trees. Our accommodations were lovely and very comfortable, with a beautiful view from the porch. I really appreciate all the thought put into being ecologically conscious and supporting the local community. Mystic River, many thanks for your part in making our first international trip with two children so incredible and memorable!

I travelled here at the end of July 2022 with my husband and 3 kids (14, 13, 10) and we absolutely LOVED it. Sylvia did an excellent job arranging tours and transportation for us. Everyone makes an effort to know your name and provides excellent service. The food was delicious. We loved being along the river and close to nature. My kids enjoyed the refreshing pool. We took a tour to see Xumantunich with Oscar and highly recommend him for a guide. He promptly picked us up from the ferry dock and took us up to the ruins. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. We also did the ATM cave tour and that is definitely a MUST do activity. Thank you Mystic River staff for making this a very memorable and special visit to Belize. My only regret was not staying longer.

We stayed three nights at Mystic River in July and loved every night. The jungle lodge was the perfect start to our vacation. We are a very active, busy family with two teenage boys and wanted to slow down for a bit. Even after the rest of our vacation at Ambergris Caye, Mystic River was in the top 3 favorite things for the week, for even the teens. We're from Houston so the warm weather did not bother us and the lack of a/c was not an issue. The humidity prevented items from drying but the lodge replaces your towels daily so that was not an issue. When you return from the ATM tour, they dry your clothes and your shoes which was a great bonus! The sun rises early and every morning, our alarm would be the birds chirping and singing outside our windows. Since the lodge is remote, it is a 20-25 minute drive into town and 1 1/2+ hours to any of the sites. We did not have a car. We decided to only do the ATM tour (which is a full day with the driving) since it is a not-to-be-missed cave. We wanted to spend the other days relaxing. We spent a day canoeing and tubing at the river. The tubes are fun to hop in, float down, get out and repeat. The boys loved laying by the pool (partly because the wifi access is there). I hiked on the trails across the road and down to the farm. We ate most of our meals at the lodge. Each morning, the staff would tell you the dinner choices of two appetizers, three entrees and the dessert for the day. You would order in the morning so the kitchen could prepare. Choices included one non-meat dish, a chicken dish and a beef or seafood item. Salad and soup. It was nice to have limited choices making decisions easy. And, the food was good and a nice variety. Breakfast was delicious, especially the fry jacks (ask for honey to go with them). Make sure you bring a water bottle so you can fill up at their water stations. We enjoyed the happy hour at the bar each night with Leo or Steven. All the staff from Jamie to Amir to others were very accommodating and nice. The resort even brought in local, cultural musical entertainment one night and our sons danced with the performers. Our two-bedroom room was great and very spacious. The resort is very quiet and peaceful. During the day, most people were out on excursions so we felt like we were the only ones there. All in all, it was just what we needed - time to unplug, catch up on books, sleep and enjoy the surroundings.

Good morning. I am so happy to read that your stay with us was so enjoyable and that you had fun on the property. Not very often do we have guests who actually spend most of their time with us as opposed to going on tours every day, so thank you so much for that! We hope to see you again in the future. Take care and have a wonderful day.

We stayed at Mystic River for our honeymoon. It was hands down one of the best places we have ever stayed. All of the staff members were amazing. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating. They greeted us every morning and when we returned from our daily adventures. The guides were great and very knowledgeable, especially Mike and Aaron. The restaurant and bar staff was friendly and went out of their way to take care of us. The resort grounds was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

We highly recommend Mystic River Resort! The setting is lush and beautiful with abundant plant and animal life with the resort nestled in the trees above the river. Our cottage was clean and comfortable with a lovely deck over the river. We were a bit concerned about the lack of AC but we slept fine and were able to enjoy the sounds of the jungle. The food was excellent and we enjoyed meals on the deck, looking over the river and watching birds and iguanas. The best part of Mystic River is the friendly, knowledgeable and competent staff including Abi, Amir, Abias, Sherry, Oscar, Sylvia and Jamie (and others!). They really went out of their way to be helpful—procuring a cane for an injured ankle, providing remedies for an upset stomach and setting up a special birthday celebration for our son. We went on several excursions including Tikal and the ATM cave and the drivers and guides were excellent. A special shout out to Abi who spent 2 full days with us and taught us so much! If you are looking for the best jungle lodge, look no further and book at Mystic River!

We just got back from four nights at the Mystic River as part of our honeymoon trip. Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The setting is gorgeous and there is plenty to do on the property: pools, river tubing, canoeing, hiking, and more. We stayed in a Cloud 9 suite and had our own private plunge pool. It was a dream to be able to cool off and relax in a private setting with so much wonderful nature all around. While the hotel itself is wonderful, the staff is even better. They really enhance the whole experience. They were so friendly, hospitable, and helpful. They catered to our every whim and helped set up all of our tours. Thanks to Petra and her team for making us feel so comfortable. Three caveats I’ll mention: First, the hotel is a 15-20 minute drive from town. So if you want to go to town for any meals, you’ll need a ride there. Fortunately the food at the hotel was very good. Second, there’s no AC. There are fans in the rooms and it cools off at nighttime, but it’s likely going to be a bit warmer when you first go to bed than you might be used to. Third, the wildlife can be loud. That’s part of the experience, of course! But if you’re a light sleeper, you may want to pack some earplugs :) Overall we would happily return to Mystic River again. It was wonderful and we can’t speak highly enough about it. If we ever travel back to that part of the world, we would definitely stay at Mystic River another time.

Mystic River is a site to see!! We enjoyed birdwatching, the butterfly trail, the beautiful views, amazing sounds of the jungle, the pool and so much more. The staff was amazing!! They even planned a birthday setup for my husband on his birthday! This is a true escape!! During our stay in Belize, we stayed at 3 different places and Mystic River was our favorite! When we return to Belize it'll be #1 on our list of places to stay. Thank you to the staff for the amazing hospitality!! And also special thanks to Petro for welcoming us and making us truly feel at home. I will be sending many people to visit Mystic River and look forward to doing business with Petro soon!! @TravelEscapes!

We recently spent five days and nights at Mystic River Resort. The service was excellent. We were provided transportation and licensed tour guides to all the major local sites. Selwin helped me with climbing down the steps of Caracol. Aaron gave us a great birding tour and a tour of the Macal River in a canoe. Mike took us to the public library in San Ignacio, a fascinating cultural experience. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Everyone was so kind, generous, friendly, and curious about our group, where we were from and what we wanted to do during our time at the Resort. Sylvia crocheted a pair of pineapple earrings for me. It was the people who make this resort special. The natural setting contributed to the positive experience of being in the rainforest. Safety and security are a priority too.

We really enjoyed our stay. The grounds were great; the jungle atmosphere superb and everyone working there absolutely helpful and attentive in all respects. We stayed 4 nights. Abi, the in-house tour guide was fantastic - and we are not usually 'tour guide' people. The road to town is paved now, and is easy (that was a concern at first - no biggie at all. I would 100% stay there again.
