The weather really played havoc but we still managed to have a great stay thanks to Annemi & Shin. Due to the rain numerous guests had to be moved around due to rain getting into the sandstone cave rooms we originally booked It was a fair drive on some muddy roads to get to the farm but we made it & Shin was waiting advise us of the changes I'm not sure of the name of the cottage we were moved to , think it was Hendrey's , but it was great. The fire was already on which was welcome considering the miserable weather. Our planned game drive also got cancelled as a result The cottage is also set amongst some rocks & forms part of the cottage in places. The bathroom setting is amazing . The open area was very spacious with indoor braai/fireplace , a nice lounge & kitchen with everything we needed including a gas stove which was useful in case of electricity outages. We could not braai outside due to the weather but still could see the views. Rooms are nice & big , 2 bedrooms & upstairs loft room with 2 mattresses. Annemi & Shin arranged a little tour around the rest of the resort &its really a nice setting. They even arranged a home made bread which was really yummy & enjoyed with our dinner. Even though the weather was not on our side the setting was great & the juggle of accommodation did'nt spoil our experience …

What a disappointment of a service at Donkieskraal. The place looked gross and they make promises to all guests and never deliver. It's dangerous for children to go there because there are snakes and scorpions everywhere. They don't even regret the houses. The service is a huge disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neat, clean, spacious and friendly. Would have loved to see the rockpaintings but no guide was available. Spectacular views and an easy drive from Cape Town. Midweek breakfast special brought to us was an added bonus. I would definitely revisit this beautiful place.

Our stay was the best ever. Host were great assisting us ,making sure we were comfortable. If you need to get away from it all go there.Spotless clean and very well eauiped. We even did a skinny dip although it was freezing cold. This is what that place does to you. Nature at its best.Cannot wait to return. Thank you for a awesome stay at your beautiful Donkieskraal.

Donkieskraal not for weddings! Guests had to do decor, tables, flowers and more at last minute as there was no back up for events manager that fell sick. Food was nice but rooms and tents leaks a lot when raining. Lots of potential and great hiking areas with bushman paintings in caves.

Incredible! Visited twice and still find it amazing. Ancient cave drawings, hiking trials, bird watching, game drives and the raw nature scenery around you. The managers are super nice. Affordable and they even offer pensioner's discount.

If you consider a visit to Donkieskraal and you don't do it, you are losing out big time. I have visited Donkieskraal a few years ago and again a month ago with a tour group. What a pleasant surprise. It is one of the most characterful places and makes a visit to the Sandveld much more than an experience. The surrounding is unbelievable, the accommodation a combination between luxury and rustic..and the view! But the hospitality from Annemi & Jacky & the incredible Sandveld and other stories from Pieter made it more that a 5-star experience. Marius du Plooy. marius@fundipro.co.za

Self catering stay amongst the boulders and caves with lively views on the west coast. Tents rustic but comfortable and clean. Chalets luxury and each unique. Not too far off the beaten track. Accessible by car.

We stayed for a night during a Wes coast road trip but I wish it was a week!! Pristine accommodation set in the mountains with 3 cave chalets, tents and camping spots. Totally self catering. Ice and wood is available. One cannot get closer to nature. Well maintained and clean with the friendliest hosts. This should be on every one's bucket list.

What a stunning place. We visited Donkieskraal as part of trip to the West Coast, Cederberge and Tankwa National Park. This was an absolute Oasis with the most friendly people. Our original plan was to camp but decided to rather stay in the tents. This was the best decision. The Braai area is absolutely stunning. Well worth a visit for at least 3 nights.
