My Husband and I went to Donkieskraal for the Easter Holiday weekend and stayed in Geko Cave. We absolutely loved our unique cave room with the most romantic bathtub situated right in front of the bed. The farm is situated in a gorgeous remote location, with access to lovely trails and bush man paintings. We absolutely loved walking up to the mast in the evening in order to watch the sunset over the sea which is approx 35km away. During our stay we enjoyed not only the trails and bathtub, but the natural rock pool for dips and our braii where we could star gaze in the evening. The hosts, Annemi and Mareline were abosolutely lovely ladies who assisted us with any questions during our stay and did the most to ensure we were comfortable throughout. We will definitely be back for another stay in the future.

Neat, clean, spacious and friendly. Would have loved to see the rockpaintings but no guide was available. Spectacular views and an easy drive from Cape Town. Midweek breakfast special brought to us was an added bonus. I would definitely revisit this beautiful place.

If you consider a visit to Donkieskraal and you don't do it, you are losing out big time. I have visited Donkieskraal a few years ago and again a month ago with a tour group. What a pleasant surprise. It is one of the most characterful places and makes a visit to the Sandveld much more than an experience. The surrounding is unbelievable, the accommodation a combination between luxury and rustic..and the view! But the hospitality from Annemi & Jacky & the incredible Sandveld and other stories from Pieter made it more that a 5-star experience. Marius du Plooy. marius@fundipro.co.za

The chalets are not worth the money. R1500 per night, but it does not include a quick room clean. My husband and I made breakfast in our room, where there are no cleaning facilities (zink, etc). I asked the lady if someone is going to clean, and her response was I must clean it myself. Just a quick clean, made of beds and clean cutlery would’ve changed my opinion already. The room also needs a dust off as there are spiderwebs in the room.
We also couldn’t go on the game drive as the driver had urgent private matters and there was no back up driver to take us.
This place has the potential to be amazing, but certain things need attention.

Won't even give it half a star. Most horrible weekend I ever had. Pay a lot of money and when you arrive there is no electricity. Owners of place rude and arrogant. They just couldn't give a damn that wedding we attended at their place was going to be a disaster. Don't go there - you will be so disappointed. When I asked for some kind of refund the answer was that it all depends on how much the guests drink that weekend. And no surprise without electricity all the drinks were warm. I booked myself into Lambertsbay (50km away) for the weekend and drove everyday to venue

Donkieskraal not for weddings! Guests had to do decor, tables, flowers and more at last minute as there was no back up for events manager that fell sick. Food was nice but rooms and tents leaks a lot when raining. Lots of potential and great hiking areas with bushman paintings in caves.

What a disappointment of a service at Donkieskraal. The place looked gross and they make promises to all guests and never deliver. It's dangerous for children to go there because there are snakes and scorpions everywhere. They don't even regret the houses. The service is a huge disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incredible! Visited twice and still find it amazing. Ancient cave drawings, hiking trials, bird watching, game drives and the raw nature scenery around you. The managers are super nice. Affordable and they even offer pensioner's discount.

Our stay was the best ever. Host were great assisting us ,making sure we were comfortable. If you need to get away from it all go there.Spotless clean and very well eauiped. We even did a skinny dip although it was freezing cold. This is what that place does to you. Nature at its best.Cannot wait to return. Thank you for a awesome stay at your beautiful Donkieskraal.

There could be a revamp on the area under the lapa where we ate in a group, very dingy and dark. Not very welcoming. Also the pool area a little bit grubby and very small for a large group. maybe consider putting up a deck.
