In the middle of the relatively flat desert Canon Lodge’s stone guest cottages are nestled in an outcropping of boulders. Although charming, the place has a somewhat of a Disneyesque feel with the rock dassie feeding on the very green grass between the boulders.
Rooms, individual stone cottages with high ceilings and stone floors, are quaint but on the small side with little storage. Linens are soft and the bed comfortable but are the two twins pushed together with a sizable gap. The bathrooms are an OK size but there is no counter space. Great shower - reasonably big with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. There is no WIFI in the rooms and few outlets for charging electronics.
The grounds include a resort style pool and lounge area at the edge of the desert. The bar area was closed probably due to the low number of guests.
While it’s a lovely setting with the boulders and surrounding desert there is not a lot to do with no real walking trails. 2 nights is more than enough for a morning visit to the canyon and hang out time at the pool.
The buffet meals are well done with a good selection of proteins, starches and vegies.
Service is friendly and efficient.

The canyon lodge is a perfect location to visit the fish river canyon. We stayed for only one night, but loved our stay! Our room - or should I say bungalow - had a magnificent view on the rock formations, but was however on the smaller side. We travelled with only one suitcase, but didn't have room to store it properly, making it difficult to walk around the bed.
Though on the more expensive side (NAD 460 pp), the dinner buffet was well worth the price. Definitely have a taste of the springbok steak!
Since we stayed there during Winter, the pool was too cold to swim, but it does have a very relaxing atmosphere with a wonderful view!
Overall a very nice experience!

This is a spectacular place. The chalets are comfortable and set back into a rocky outcrop overlooking the veld/dry river bed with free roaming antelope. We were welcomed by a host of small animals - Hyrax, ground squirrels & birds. The staff made my birthday extra special that evening!

We would like to thank the chef, who rose early to provide us with a tasty breakfast package, complete with snack and juice. We had to leave super-early to travel. That's service! We can recommend the Gondwana collection lodges. What we liked about it, was that it was a short trip to the Fish River Canyon, but also provided a different type of experience in terms of accommodation. Not to mention the nearby Canyon Road House on the way! Also something to behold, especially for car lovers.

Lovely pool area as well. Comfortable pathways make getting from and to your chalet easy (especially for older people). Also, they had good coffee! Something we did not always get.

When we arrived we got welcomed by a lovely lady, who gave us some ice cold gember beer as welcome drink. All rooms are separate houses in a big circle around the mountainside. They have a very good breakfastbuffet with anything you need. For dinner you get served on the table with a starter, after that there is buffet and then again you get served a dessert. Special shout out to Timo for serving us everyday and for the amazing sundowner walk.

After a week of lodge hopping we ended up at Cañon Lodge. We travelled with our 3 year old daughter and if she could I would have let her review the place herself. The rooms are cozy and clean, the food was good but most importantly THE STAFF ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Each and every one of them were so friendly and so helpful. They are so child friendly that my daughter wanted to be with them more than with me and her dad. Constancia was the best of them all and my daughter kept looking for a Constancia at the other lodges we visited, mostly to her disappointment. We will visit this place mostly for its staff, we felt at home and I was sad to meet such nice people and then part ways with the.

We stayed 2 nights in June in this lodge. The location and the views are amazing.
The staff was really friendly. Great service.
It was quiet and relaxing, specially the swimmingpool with an amazing view.
You can go to a hill close by for a sundowner and you can also enjoy drinks in the terrace.

Very nice ambiance, sharp staff team and perfect environment. Always impressed when people manage a good hotel resort lodge so extreme far away from the rest of the world. Namibdesert in Gandwana is about 35 to 40 degrees celsius as we arrive, the reception is alert and sharp. Service great and beer cold. Evening diner was good. Way above average. Breakvast simple with care and good. Only missed the sausages. Evening view splendid. If ever you should spend here a couple of days and do the trail early morging. The evening, night, mornig...great silence you can hear the birds fly.

I cant speak more highly of this lodge, withthe absolute highest praise to Charles, who was incredible and went above and beyond any kind of help we could have asked for. Our car was stuck on the side of the road in the middle of seemingly nowhere, and we were able to get a ride to this lodge to seek help. I was really worried about the situation, and thought this would become a big ordeal, but as soon as we arrived and spoke with Charles, he fixed everything. We couldnt have asked for a more gracious staff member who did everything he could to help us get back on track to fix the situation and offer various solutions. It was the most unparalleled experience I have ever had travelling. He offered as much reassurance as he did help.

The lodge itself is stunning, all the staff were so kind and attentive. The restaurant was lovely, and the food was delicious. All this aside, I still cant speak more highly of Charles, who truly saved our trip.

I would highly recommend this place to absolutely anyone, and am extremely grateful x a million to have met Charles.

The rooms are clean and equipped with everything one needs, the location is astounding, and the whole area is impeccably maintained. The real highlight of this place and our stay was the staff. In this regard, a special mention goes to Timo and Milencia - they were kind and thoughtful.

Ps: Milencia has a heavenly voice, but she’s too shy to sing.

This was our second stay at the Canyon Lodge... with the Dassies. Warm welcome and we were shown to room 14, right at the animal feeding spot... and close to the swimming pool. Relaxing and quiet place! We did the Sundowner Drive and found a hidden Gem - The "Window". Saw also a few Game.
