Enjoy wide views of the Alps, plenty of parking, knowledgeable and friendly staff, included breakfast buffet (with the views), large rooms (windows have screens, so they can be left open), cozy - Bavarian style (plenty of woodwork) decorated public areas and rooms.....what else can one ask for?

Conveniently located on the way to Italy/Austria, this will become our favorite "layover" stop.

We spent two nights at the Berghotel Aschbach for a relatives wedding. The location is fantastic, overlooking the mountains. The hotel is on the ST2078 road from Munich to Rosenheim and very easy to find. It's set in its own grounds and half a mile or so from the nearby town. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi which we found to be pretty fast and reliable. Our room was quite small but the bathroom was larger than average. Both were spotlessly clean. Towels were changed daily. We ate in the hotels restaurant the night before the wedding and the food was great. The food and service provided at the wedding reception itself was excellent. All the hotel staff were friendly and nothing at all was too much trouble for them. Would definitely return again if we found ourselves in the area.

On this trip we only stopped for lunch, but have stayed there in the past. Everything about the hotel and restaurant are top quality. (The room we had last visit was a corner with tranquil views over the meadows to the mountains - very comfortable.) The day of our visit was "beef day" and three of us had featured steaks, each with a different sauce. My husband had schweinbraten, and enjoyed every bite. Service is great. There is a glass counter with an array of beautiful desserts. Unfortunately it was a foggy day so the spectacular mountain view was obscured. We love the "gemutlich" atmosphere and peacefulness of the locale.

It's such a shame because this pleasant hotel, with pictures to entice, should be a peaceful refuge in the glorious Bavarian countryside. However, sadly it sits a short distance away from a relatively busy commuter road to and from Munich. We arrived on a summer evening, were given a very pleasant room with balcony but the traffic noise was such that we could not use; the same goes for the outside terrace. Restaurant, service and food are pleasant enough although the prices a little high for simple country fare.

Dear EPM15, thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our hotel and restaurant. I am sorry you considered the road that loud. For most of our guest the road seems to no big deal. On the other side one may never forget the easy accessability of our Hotel, which is also very important especially for non-locals. I am also sorry you regard our Prices "a little high". As the owner I assure you, concerning to the costs, you are enjoying our food and services for absolutly resonable prices in this region. Especially the personnel expenses are rocketing so much and we are only transfering a small amout to our prices. As long as the market of qualified employees will not improve (which I doubt) I am sure we will see much higher prices in the near future or closing restaurants. Unfortunately this is reality. Altough we will, as always, do our best to fulfill our promise for hospitality and quality. I hope I was able to give you a better understanding for the situation and would be happy to welcome you again in Aschbach. Best regards Rainer Lechner

I had the opportunity to spend two nights at the Berghotel Aschbach in Feldkrichen beginning on September 27, 2010 while in the area on business.

The hotel was quite wonderful! My room was on the third floor. And, while the hotel seemed to not have been built recently, my room had been recently and completely refurbished. It was very comfortable in every way.

The bathroom was spotlessly clean with literally all surfaces being polished tile or marble. Lighting was good. The only negative was that the shower was quite small. I often travel with a colleague who is 6’6” (2 meters) tall. He may have found it difficult to use. It was OK for me.

The bedroom had two twin beds pushed together and it was very comfortable. There was an flat screen TV, but because I arrived very late, did not really try to watch anything.

There was a small, but very usable desk. The hotel offers Wi-Fi service and the speed was very adequate to check email using our company’s VPN.

There were windows that opened in both the bedroom and bathroom, something that I appreciate. Even though it was late fall, I slept with the windows slightly open.

A continental breakfast buffet was included in the nightly rate which was about $115 U.S. dollars. There was a good selection of cereals, breads, juices and fruit. The coffee was excellent.Comfor

Everyone that I encountered at the hotel was very helpful and friendly. When in the area again, I would definitely return!

Modern rooms in a traditional house. The view is breath-taking and the service wonderful. Breakfast with local organic food has everything one could ask for.
Dinner at the restaurant was superb - again locally produced ingredients prepared at a high standard.

Having gone here for our wedding anniversary my wife and I fell in love with the view from our balcony on the second floor. The room was very comfortable and the service was top quality. My only negative would be the highway that runs very close to the side of the hotel and can be heard almost all the time. Thankfully the windows and doors and quite sound proof, but one doesn't always want those closed during a heatwave.
The food was amazing - best schnitzel I have ever had and my two steaks were done to perfection - med-rare and delicious. Desserts were great too as was the Bavarian weissbier (wheat beer). Be aware, English-speakers, that there is an English menu that can be asked for but it doesn't have all the food on that the German once has. Our waitress couldn't explain this, but the dessert I wanted was only on the German one, but still obviously able to be ordered. The waitresses were excellent and we fond a bilingual one who helped us a lot

We arreived and were given a lovely table, plenty of room on the table and nicely set.
The order was taken and we did not have to wait long at all for the starter. It was delicious! And with that in mind we anticipated a wonderful main course. I guess the chef went home just then because what we got was anything but delicious.
We had the duck leg with dumplings and red cabbage, a fresh Saibling pan fired and a rack of lamb and leg of lamb.

The duck must have been from the day before as the crispy skin was like parchment and in places black. It was dry and basically inedible.
The rack of lamb was not trimmed properly and a load of fat was still on it. Worst was the few slices of lamb leg which were just trimmings found somewhere dry and hard yuk. Last not least the Saibling was simply to salty.

Upon our complaint we were told that the waiter himself had the saibling and it was fine, there you go. No sorry no apology not even a complimentary cup of coffee or something.
We paid the princely sum of 170 euros and only two of the four of us were drinking wine. Two others simply tea total.

Guess what - we wont ever come back.
