Manyara Safari Lodge was one of the best incredible properties I have stayed at on safari in Tanzania.

There is something incredibly warm and inviting about the property that made me and my husband feel relaxed as soon as we arrived, from the friendly and professional staff to the delicious food, not to mention the gorgeous jaw dropping view of Lake Manyara.

Unbelievably, the property actually borders the national park and yet we didn't have to pay any additional park fees or wild life management area fees like we did at other properties so close to a conservation area.

When we fell asleep, after watching some amazing entertainment provided by the lodge free of charge, we fell asleep to the sound of lions roaring, which gave us goosebumps because they were so close to our cottage!

At one point during the evening I am convinced that there were elephants outside of our room thanks to the sound of branches snapping and cracking right outside but I couldn't see anything when I shined my torch outside the window.

Needless to say I thoroughly recommend staying at Manyara Safari Lodge.

The place even has its own elephant watering hole and is absolutely marvellous for birding owing to its proximity to the national park.

What a wonderful place to relax after a long day on safari.

This is a wonderful camp. In hindsight, we should have stayed here a day and not left the premises. The food was good with many options. The staff was very helpful and kept us comfortable.

Each cottage is basically a little house with lots of windows and wood. Our porch had a hammock. Hot water was via a wood stove, but they had it burning every morning and evening. Power was a few hours each night and morning.

There are many shared areas with beautiful views. We did not get in the pool, but it exists.

There is a 40 min drive on gravel roads up the mountain to get to the lodge. There are many small farms and families you pass along the way. They are super friendly. We passed out a couple of bags of lollipops to the kids.

We suggest getting souvenirs from locals in the town vs the fancy souvenir shop along the highway.

We spent two nights in this dreamlike facility during our safari.
All the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Especially Mr. Cobra, who even took us on a short hike to a lookout point.
If you're lucky, you can even see a few elephants from the terrace, in addition to the great view.
The lodge itself had wonderful facilities and was very comfortable.

The place is miles away on a dirt road but is worth the detour. The location is magical and the lodge is very beautiful with a superb view of the park and its lake. But the pool was turned upside down when we arrived!! Full of mud we were unable to take advantage of it.
The rooms are large and comfortable with large terraces with breathtaking views of the lake. Some have hammock beds or large deckchairs.
We eat inside because even in December it quickly gets cool in the evening. But having breakfast with a view of the lake would have been a plus.
The meal is in the form of a buffet with little variety but simple and very good (dinner and breakfast).
A large room which makes up a dining room, bar and lounge is pleasant.
Be careful though: no more electricity after 10 p.m. The lodge runs on solar during the day and on generator until that time. So refills should be planned in advance.
Problem also we did not have hot water and after a day of safari and the cool of the evening the shower was complicated.
Bad luck perhaps.
