The goon looking squad that dressed likewise and encamped outside this hotel was our only concern. The dressings and decorations all around was nice. Dressings on salad was equally fantastic. Rooms nice.
Plumbing issues in the bathroom. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, we were upgraded to a lake view room. You have to call reception though, because there aren’t any books in the room to tell you how things work or whom to call from landline. The problem was the Monday night we stayed. There was a birthday party thrown, and due to the proximity of the kitchen to Topaz room, not only could we smell the food, but the guests were ridiculously noisy. Eventually leaving after 10pm. Breakfast was fair, however no hash brown, coffee was weak, service was average. Thank goodness for the St Andrews Hotel spa though! Suku was so professional and she spoilt me rotten! So well priced and absolutely excellent service!
On arrival receptionist where not very friendly, a room was allocated to us and we where not happy with the room as their was no view (as per my confirmation which stated Balcony, Garden view, Landmark view, City view) but a wall (this was on the first floor, room 1 something) we then returned to the reception to allocate us another room, we where then sent to the 2nd floor, also no view, we then returned to the reception the 3rd time and by now everybody seems to be irritable with us, my husband then wanted to speak to the Manager which he did and she suggested if we wanted a room with a lake view it will cost us extra, which was not in my budget, we then wanted to cancel everything and was told by the receptionist that we will not be refunded as I made my booking through booking.com. We therefor decided to stay and take the second room which was allocated to us. When we arrived at this room there was no kettle which we waited more than a hour for, there was no hairdryer, there was no safe, there was no directory with reception numbers or breakfast times or check out times in the room, I called the reception from my cellphone to find out what time breakfast was, none of this was communicated to us on check-in, I don’t think the room was prepared for any visitors. The restaurant is over-priced with a very standard menu. My overall experience was not great, the hotel itself is very smart, gardens lovely aswell as pool area well maintained, I think the staff needs to be educated not very professional.…
The outdoor is nice with a beautiful view and environment. When you get to the room, the carpet is so disgusting! Dirty and smelly! Bathroom is quite OK but sink was leaking and the tap touch the bottom of the sink! Your hands cannot fit between the sink and the tap, do you believe it? Also a toilet shower is required! Breakfast is OK and they have a nice English Breakfast! People is friendly and warm making you feel comfortable!
The rooms are so beautiful. Loved the artwork throughout the hotel and the finishing touches are classic. The service was good and the staff was helpful. The breakfast had variety and the views were so relaxing. The spa upstairs was just magnificent.
