Thankful we were able to stay as unable o locate Killiechronan and planed to arrive in Salen the following day. Camp is situated on a headland and raised so exposed to strong winds. Lovely views sat in the sun. Good facilities and certainly made use of the cooking area and bothy so we could eat in comfort out of the rain. Salen has a well stocked Spar and there is a hotel and two very good cafes.

A lovely site in a lovely place. The friendly fella who booked us in was great at accommodating us when we asked to stay a few nights longer. We moved a couple of times on site as a result, which gave us new views over the Sound of Mull. The showers and toilets are in portacabins and are modern and spotless. There is a great shore walk and you can hire kayaks by the hour at very reasonable rates. We will be back!

Friendly, helpful, particularly as our first campervan trip, pleasantly small site with everything we needed including fully stocked clean facilities, lovely views of the water and hills. Good 4G. Short walk to the small town of Salen to stock up on food in Spar. Also Salen Hotel for drinks etc

Booked a 3 night break and extended this by an extra day the week before travel with staff being very helpful and accommodating despite looking like there was no availability. Our pitch was big and it’s an excellent location. Facilities are great and Shower blocks very clean. We would love to stay again 👍🏼

Lovely site, in an idyllic spot. Friendly and helpful owners. Busy, but with a good feel about the site, quiet at night and fellow campers respectful and tidy. Impeccably clean toilet/shower blocks. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. Well stocked Spar shop 5 minutes from the site, great position in centre of the Island for travelling.

We loved our stay at Salen Bay, it is beautiful campsite. We were given a very friendly welcome and were delighted with our pitch. We had plenty space to pitch our tent to make the most of the magnificent views. The facilities were kept very clean and although could he busy at times we had no problems accessing showers. The site is placed perfectly on Mull for touring around, and only a ten minute walk away from a well stocked spar and 2 lovely coffe shops. We hope to visit again soon.

We stayed a week and really enjoyed the experience. The campsite staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and they create a relaxed atmosphere. Dogs and cats are made to feel welcome too. Facilities are cleaned regularly. The wee bothy is well maintained. Views are exceptional and a wee group of deer even came right up to our tent one evening. We will definitely be going back.

Looks lovely on the pictures on the website- very spacious- but in reality it felt very crowded. Nice owners. Spotlessly clean facilities. But cramped for the number of tents, motorhomes etc. Noisy too. Dogs barking in the middle of the night. Other noisy campers kept us awake. Wouldn't return.

Response from Salen Bay Campsite, Owner at Salen Bay Campsite
Responded 29 Aug 2023
Hi Happy Camper, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our site, we really appreciate it. We are so sorry to hear that you felt your stay did not match your expectations, based on any photos you had seen. Our pitches are planned to provide guests with maximum room as no one deserves to feel cramped on their holidays, so we are disappointed to hear that this was your experience. At the end of each camping season we put our thinking caps on to help make next year better than before, so this feedback will be considered. In terms of noise levels, our campsite operates a strict low noise policy between the hours of 10pm and 7am. As dog owners ourselves we understand that sometimes they are a little bit naughty and often terrible at following rules, so on behalf of their owners, we apologise for any barking. With regards to other campers, in future please do contact the out of hours phone of the campsite you’re staying at to report any issues, so that the team can do their best to resolve these quickly and quietly. We are sorry to hear you won’t be returning to us, but we do hope that you will visit our beautiful island again. Our best wishes, Salen Bay Campsite

We absolutely loved this site!! Really friendly and helpful. In a stunning position overlooking the Loch with a great coastal walk off the site through rock pools, ferns, grasses and heather. Perfect for dogs. We visited in our MoHo but there was a variety of tents, caravans and…….a tractor! They all had large pitches. The actual site is superbly equipped with loos, showers (on a speedy timer), washing machine/dryer, wet weather room which had charging points for phones etc
