I loved this quaint little hotel. Our room was located in an old house. The room was not the most spacious we had on our trip, but it was large enough and it was so homey. We had a very large bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate shower. The bellboy and waiter are one and the same and he's terrific - so friendly! We ate breakfast on a covered terrace overlooking the town. Just beautiful. We even rested before dinner with a beer on the outdoor couches. The call to prayer by the local mosque was very soft and melodic compared to others I heard on the trip.
The entire setting and ambiance are romantic and beautiful. The room we had was OK, nothing special, but what it lacked was more than made up by the staff, the setting, the food and the location overlooking the town of Sirince and the valley beyond.
we were looking for unbranded local experience and Gullu Konaklari was amazing experience. Tucked into the hills at Sirince above Selcuk , this 12 room villa hotel was a lovely oasis from touristy spots around Ephesus. We had our own terrace and the outdoor restaurant had magnificent views over the hills of olive trees. We were greeted by self claimed "the bellboy" ( unfortunately can not remember his name) who checked us in, served our meals and was general host . He was great and gave excellent friendly service. Breakfast included jams and honey made in their own orchards. We would have liked to stay longer and explore more of the area around it.
By the pictures, I anticipated that Gullu Konaklari would be the most beautiful hotel we stayed at in Turkey (we stayed in five) and the setting was not disappointing. The view and the grounds were lovely and I was sad we did not have time to really sit and enjoy them (we only stayed for one night). Our room itself was only so-so, smelling highly perfumed and -possibly- a bit like smoke. The staff was nice, a little harried but fine. Breakfast was pretty good. One other thing, my husband and I were exploring the grounds (I think we were at the hotel, we had just come in the gate) and we turned the corner and a large dog came at us insanely barking. It may have been leased (it was dark) but it we had to run and it was actually terrifying (and we love dogs so we are not generally…
A lovely retreat right at the end of Sirince village (you have to drive through all the souvenir stalls and coach party crowds, and suddenly find yourself entering a peaceful haven through a gate at the end of a track). The grounds are lush and the communal areas beautifully designed. All the staff were welcoming and very obliging. We especially enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace and having drinks as the sun set over the beautiful hillside view. our Suite was clean and had neutral design, with a pleasant sitting room, good bathroom with excellent shower and a quiet if slightly small bedroom. We found staying here really relaxing and peaceful, which was a relief after the heat and bustle of visiting Ephesus and other nearby Roman and Greek sites (really recommend Priene and…
