Fantastic experience. Top-notch service. Delicious meals. Highly recommended. LOCATION: Just over an hour's drive from PE. Last 10km on a poor quality gravel road (especially during wet weather). Hotel offers private transfers at an exorbitant price. APPEARANCE: Great. Luxurious, yet fitting of the outdoor experience. Better quality finishing than many of it's competitors. ROOM (Stayed in a Superior Family Room at Pollards Inn): Decor: Quality on par with a 5-star city hotel despite being surrounded by nature. 2 Double beds. Sleeper couch. Large desk/work area. Lovely tranquil patio with a beautiful view. Size: Huge spacious room plus patio. Interleading options available as well. Decently sized bathroom. Amenities: Meets expectations. Bar fridge/snacks included. Full Dstv bouquet. Quality of sleep. Excellent. Comfortable beds. SERVICE: As good as I've experienced. From arrival to departure everyone was fantastic. Knowledgeable game drive and predator park guides. Those little extra touches did not go unnoticed - like washing your car prior to departure or gifting Kwantu caps to the kids playing outside. DINING: Excellent. Fully Halaal. All-inclusive. Decent variety. Excellent quality. Great staff. One of the highlights of the trip. ACTIVITIES/FACILITIES: Trip was unfortunately marred by wet weather so were unable to fully experience everything on offer. Personalised itinerary. Enjoyable game drives with close big 5 encounters. Predator park. Petting zoo. Lots of outdoor facilities. Clean well maintained Muslim prayer facility. The kids' play area could do with some improvement. MY BOOKING AGENT: Hotel website ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Despite being a group of 10, transfers are quoted on the website on a per person basis which would have amounted to a similar price to our flights from Johannesburg. Due to our early evening arrival and hesitancy to tackle the roadtrip on unfamiliar terrain in the dark, the hotel lost out on our party booking an extra night's accommodation as we chose to spend the night in PE and drive through the next day in 2 rental cars which costs significantly cheaper than Kwantu's own transfers. My feeling is that if you are located in an isolated location, accessibility/transfer options for guests making multi-room bookings for a few nights need to be more attractive. Will I recommend/stay there again? Yes definitely.

We had a reservation for the luxury bush resort. The receptionist and the staff misguided and frightened us. They wanted us to shift to pollards inn. They falsely said that the lodge witness a power cut from 9 to 11 every night.. and as the bush lodge is in the middle of the jungle we should not stay in the bush lodge.. highly misguiding and inappropriate hospitality.. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED

Response from Kwantu Manager, Owner at Kwantu Private Game Reserve
Responded 13 Jun 2023
Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our luxury bush resort. As a representative of Kwantu, I would like to address the concerns you raised and provide you with the necessary clarification. Firstly, we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding or confusion caused by our receptionist and staff. It was never our intention to misguide or frighten you. Our primary goal is to ensure the comfort and safety of our guests at all times. To provide some context, Kwantu, like all other establishments in South Africa, occasionally experiences loadshedding due to the electricity shortage in South Afirca. We were aware that loadshedding was scheduled during your stay, and as a precautionary measure, our staff recommended a transfer to Pollards Inn. This suggestion was made with the well-being and convenience of our guests in mind. It is important to note that loadshedding was unexpectedly suspended shortly before the expected time. The intention behind the recommendation to stay at Pollards Inn was to offer you an alternative option where a generator is available to ensure uninterrupted power supply in case of power cuts. Your comfort and satisfaction are of utmost importance to us, and we sincerely apologize for any lapse in our communication that may have resulted in a misunderstanding. We appreciate your positive feedback about the overall experience at our luxury bush resort. We are glad to hear that, aside from this particular issue, you enjoyed your stay with us. We strive to continuously improve our services and provide exceptional hospitality to all our guests. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Warm regards, Kwantu Private Game Reserve

This experience was a little different than Botlierskop Game Reserve as my excursion here included a visit to a sanctuary for big cats, African dances and lunch after our adventure looking for the big 5. Had a great time and enjoyed up close encounters with the animals. It was chilly and windy that day, so some of the animals were hiding in the bush to shelter from the cool air. Made our search a little ore challenging but still had a good day nonetheless. The luncheon was very nice as well.

We recently stayed at Kwantu for 2 nights. While the game drives were excellent, the hotel is certainly not a 5 star experience. The finishing touches in the room were not up to a 5 star standard, the pool area and tennis courts were run down, the dining room was not well maintained In terms of food, the options provided were decent. However, the variety is quite small for a buffet and one has to ask for certain things (like cool drink, a warm cooked egg at breakfast). The staff were all very pleasant and tried to make our stay as easy as possible Once again, we had a lovely game drive experience but the hotel is certainly not 5 star

A wonderful few days which were magical . Thank you to all at Kwantu I can highly recommend a stay for the safari experience led by Innocent, who knew every inch of the reserve. The service and hospitality second to none. Loved the halal ambience and catering. A truly amazing reserve which caters for all :)

We enjoyed a family holiday with friends in March 2022. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. The food was amazing with a variety of options available everyday for all 3 meals. The game drives were unbelievable with experienced and knowledgeable rangers. We got to experience and see the big 5. This was a trip all of us enjoyed including the kids. Would definitely recommend it!

We had originally booked in 2019 to stay in 2020 - only to finally be able to visit in 2022. You can imagine then how high our expectations were! Kwantu did not let us down from the moment we arrived until we left. We were collected punctually and welcomed with some delicious snacks followed by our first game drive - we were the only guests there for the first day so we felt very privileged! Avu, our guide, was phenomenal ensuring we had a superb time during every game drive and ensured we saw as many of the Big 5 - sadly not a leopard - and each experience was explained thoroughly. Avu truly is an asset to Kwantu. As mentioned, we were one of few guests and so our entire trip felt very personalised - dinner was served with buffet dishes at the table with something different every time. We were always welcomed genuinely for each meal - the food portions were very good and the desserts at lunch and dinner were also great. Kwantu is smaller than some of the other reserves but you still get a great experience - it appears there are plans to expand and we do hope these come to fruition for our future visits of which we hope there are many. On a separate note, I sent a thank you email to the staff to which the owner replied - this again was a thoughtful personal touch which was appreciated. I don’t think Kwantu can be compared to some of the other reserves which understably are larger but we had selected Kwantu as it fit our needs as a Muslim family - we loved that everything was designed around offering a real family environment. We were also lucky that Kwantu allowed us to book the bush lodges which are beautiful - not necessarily designed for families but we loved the authentic ambience it added, especially when we saw a rhino amble past one morning. Well done Kwantu!
