The two of us visited the Lalibela Inzolo Lodge at the beginning of March and were more than pleasantly surprised:

After arriving in the welcome area (the car stays there), you are driven about 20-25 minutes to the Inzolo Lodge. The lodge is nestled between the mountains and offers a fantastic view.

When we arrived at the lodge, we were personally welcomed by the staff and the manager and were given a drink and a warm towel (also offered after every game drive) and a tour of the accommodation.

We were alone in the lodge the first night and no other guests arrived until the next day.

Accommodation: everything is very chic and well-kept; tradition is combined with modernity; great areas for relaxing and reading, etc. Bungalow 1 is highly recommended due to the great view of the valley and the watering hole. The bungalows are clean and there is room service twice a day. Privacy is maintained and the bungalows are protected from view by the vegetation. On the first evening we found a romantic surprise in the bathroom - these are the things that make the hospitality so great!

Staff: always friendly and there is always someone there at night too.

Food: There is a choice of 2 dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special requests are taken into account. The quality of the food is OK to good, but there is certainly room for improvement here, although the chef has made an effort and also takes regional cuisine into account.

Game drive: We had Rainer as our ranger and we were absolutely delighted. Rainer adapts to individual wishes for the tour and has something to say about every animal or plant. Since Lalibela is not a zoo, it is understandable that it is not always possible to see every animal, but it is precisely this craftsmanship and skill of the ranger to observe and read tracks that made the safari so excellent for us. Thank you again for that, Rainer! :)

In summary, we recommend this accommodation for anyone looking for a high-quality safari tour including a luxurious lodge. In our opinion, the price is reasonable and in the future the Inzolo Lodge will be further modernized and will then also include private pools for each individual bungalow - we are excited! :)

Until next time!

From the moment we arrived and every time we returned from a drive to our final departure day we were greeted smiles, laughter and a warm welcome.
The lodge, the rooms, the food and the team were all exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble as we were frequently reminded that “you’re on holiday”.
We have been left with lasting memories from each game drive. No two came close to being the same and managing to track down all of the Big 5 during our stay was a highlight.
This lodge is very special and we feel privileged to have had the opportunity to stay there and meet such a wonderful team.

We have been on multiple safari’s in South Africa and this experience was one of the best! We had the most incredible stay at Inzolo!

The amazing team of Vuyo, Sticks, Mayo, Monesi, Jeff, Thamie and Welile all greatly contributed to making our stay a first class experience! The team went above and beyond to make the simple pleasures feel special, and they even spoiled us with a Champgne and candle lit bubble bath to congratulate us on our wedding! The food was outstanding quality and variety, and our glasses were always full!

On the game viewing front, Sivi was fantastic in sharing his knowledge and expertise with us. He managed to provide some incredible sightings over the three days!

Overall, the team made us feel so welcomed! This is an experience we will cherish dearly!

Our experience did not get close to previous reviews unfortunately. Accommodation and surroundings were excellent. The friendliness of the staff was also very good. The views were stunning. However, as a safari lodge standards were well below expectations with inconsistency and hit and miss. No hot drink as we gathered for early morning drive. Some days we stopped to a hot drink on the drive, some days we didn't. On the afternoon drive some days we stopped for a sundowner, some days we didn't. Food too was varied with some meals ruined by excessive use of salt. Items in room not restocked such as us having to chase for towels!. We both fell ill with a cold virus which meant we missed a couple of drives but at no time were we asked if help was needed!
If only staying for 1 or 2 nights you probably will not realise the shortfalls but if like us staying for 4 nights, or having previous safari experiences, you certainly will.
Management need to realise it is the little things that cost little but make the difference to the customer.
To end on a positive note we had some great experiences of animal sightings including lion and hippo visiting our view from our room.

It is actually extremely difficult to write a review on Inzolo. There are just so many aspects of the experience which make it worth every penny spent. The lodge is beautifully decorated and well stocked with fine wine and the food is to die for. The staff are all very welcoming and made a real effort to get to know each of us personally. There are 4 rooms which are all wonderfully furnished and secluded from one another which gives you privacy and an atmosphere of being truly immersed in the bush.

The game viewing is equally as great as the lodge and our Ranger Regard was the absolute best! He has a great sense of humor and kept us thoroughly entertained by his stories as we drove in search of the game.

All in all the trip was definitely worth it and I would recommend it to anyone else who would have a chance to go and enjoy this wonderful experience. Jay, you and the team were amazing!

The 3 nights we spent at Inzolo were fantastic - we could not recommend it highly enough. There is only 4 rooms which makes it very personal and the staff, especially Johannes, are world-class. They did go well beyond to make our stay fabulous. The food we were served was amazing - just a bit too much at times ;) The game drives were informative and we saw lots of wildlife. We could go back to Inzolo any time. A big shout out to Jay and Johannes and team for all they have done and for taking such good care of us!

I anticipate: whoever books this lodge makes a good choice. Really everything well organized (especially the safaris) and lacks nothing. Shower with view outside, open air bathtub, nice ambience etc.

There's still a small restriction: the dining and lounge area could be a little more lovingly decorated (the little things make it all the difference). The food was good but unfortunately sometimes not hot enough and the one of the staff could have "done with a little more momentum"

But all in all whining is at a high level! We definitely recommend this lodge.

It is my 50th birthday later this year. As my birthday gift I chose to go to this extraordinary Lodge with my husband, 2 daughters and the special men in their life. Words fail to express what an amazing time it was. The attention to detail goes above and beyond expectation. The food is impeccably presented and delicious. The staff are the epitome of service excellence and from the first moment we arrived made us all feel so special. I was presented with a beautiful birthday cake on the second night and the staff sang to me. They have the most beautiful voices too! The surroundings and the actual Lodge are spectacular and there was nothing nicer than sitting next to a great fire. Each night, time, love and care was taken in leaving a little surprise on our bed. Its the little touches thant create the biggest impact. Our Ranger was Regard, he was brilliant! His knowledge and fantastic sense of humour made the Game drives that much more enjoyable. He is a true asset to the profession and to the company.
This stay and the memories made will stay in my heart forever. Thank you for the best time! I pray to be back some time again.

The main focus was to see the big fives which had nearly been fullfilled. The atmosphere was really good we enjoyed the time beeing at the Inzolo Game Lodge.
The ranger acted very professional so that we could see the lions and other animals.
