This was our first visit to Africa & so also our first safari, and I cannot imagine wanting to do one anywhere else as this was so fantastic. We found Rippons Lodge very comfortable and accommodating as they fitted into with the timing of our visit so well. The food was very good, just too much of it ! The...

My husband and I spent 3 nights here. We were pleased with the location of the lodge as it was close to the Shamwari Reserve. This is an excellent option for people who are looking for a safari that is authentic and close to the Cape area. The Game Drives were excellent. Our Ranger was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The only...

We stayed for two nights in a Long Barn room at the end of February and were very impressed. We went with low expectations, imaging something like a youth hostel – I think it was the Long Barn name that did it, but it was nothing like that at all! The room was very spacious and extremely comfortable. We had...

Stayed at Rippons for a week on a family holiday and had an incredible time. Our guide, Nofias was fantastic and made our trip! He was very knowledgable and made all the drives amazing. His persistence to find animals always paid off and we saw the big 5. His enthusiasm and love for the area, country and animals was always...

To do a safari has been a life long dream, but combining it with kids was always a concern. (Kids aged 8 & 11) Well this lodge allowed the perfect combination. They combine amazing games drives, in the superb Shamwari reserve, but in a more relaxed atmosphere than some of the other perhaps "posher" lodges. We were concerned our kids...

This is a truly incredible, 5 star experience. From the moment you arrive you are treated like a VIP, nothing is too much trouble. The food, service, knowledge, friendliness, standard are all outstanding. The hospitality from Bryan and his team is relaxed and friendly but first class. However, this is just the background for your game drives. Our guide, and...

The Lodge including our room, our meals & the friendliness of the staff where great. However with regard to our Game Drives - the weather was against us. We did two - during which it rained & was cold (end Feb). This occurred on either the drive out or back. My wife needed her gloves, hat and coat each day -...

I can agree with all the latest reviews as we have just returned after 2 wonderful nights there. Well said Wendy regarding Rhynhardt's passion for all the animals and nature within the reserve. His knowledge which he imparted was so very much appreciated. Accommodation and food was very good and we felt it topped off our first stay in S.A....

“Choose the long barn...patio area is a sun trap...room looks out over the valley and watering hole...rooms are massive with the biggest bathroom I've ever seen!”

“All 3 room types are very spacious and modern. The long barn is good for couples and it overlooks the pool and valley. There are 2 annexe rooms which are the size of cottages inside which would be perfect for families or a group of friends.”

“The Long Barn was a good choice for us”

“Couples should ask for a room in the Long Barn as no children allowed. Rooms in the house are 2 floor suites ideal for families or several couples travelling together. The Old Vet building has around 5 smaller suites but still much larger than an average European Hotel, and have seperate bunk bed room for children”
