Nice location facing the beach, friendly staff, clean rooms. Breakfast was good enough. Lots of restaurants nearby for dinner. The hotel had no parking, but we found a spot on the street easily (for free).

Hotel's Favourite
The best possible location as it is the hotel by far the closest to the beach and the pier and the statue of Neptune. The hotel is run by the 4th generation of owners, represented by excellent, kind and English and French-speaking staff. They advised us where the best restaurants are and how to get from A to B. High-quality breakfasts (the best-quality meats, cheeses, coffee, pizza and sweet options), a nice and helpful waitress. We usually don't eat sweet breakfasts, but at the urging of a helpful waitress, we tried a delicious tart. We got a room with a sea view and a balcony - live not to die. It is worth taking advantage of the offer of the beach opposite - through the hotel you get a discount on sunbeds and umbrellas. You could easly get here by taking bus number 62 from Lido Centro Train Station. We only have comments about the size of the bathroom (it's hard to disassemble the cosmetics) and the soundproofing of the door - you could hear every sound from the corridor. Air conditioning, when set to full speed, made a noise similar to the resonance of a heavy truck passing by. It probably can be fixed.

Just returned from a few days and what a great little hotel. All the staff are so helpful arranged a pick up from cruise port to hotel and back to airport. The room was of a good size and had everything you would need for a few days and a really good sized bathroom. The air conditioning was great as well. Our room rate includes breakfast and was a really nice continental breakfast and again the staff In breakfast room was lovely and helpful. Overall we had a fantastic stay from start to finish.

This is a lovely oceanside hotel. Small, unassuming, updated in a great location. Our rooms were spacious, modern and comfortable. Staff was extremely nice and helpful, quick shuttle to airport (€13 per person). Beautiful seaview from our room. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. Plenty of restaurant and bar choices a few steps away. We had just spent a week of pizzas, pastas and all things Italian...I must confess the McDonald's downstairs from the hotel was actually a welcome change LOL followed by an evening stroll in the Piazza Anco Marzio and an Aperol Spritz. I would definetly recommend this hotel if you need to wind down, relax and even take a dip in the Mediteranean, after all the touring in Italy and need to be close to Fumicino airport (10km).

Unfortunately booked a single night prior to a flight out of FCO. Spectacular room, service & location. We had a seaside view along with a patio. Both did not disappoint. Location is near the village and a plethora of restaurants & village marketplace. Will definitely rebook a getaway there next time we are in Rome...Highly recommend!!!

Nothing like the posted pictures. Rooms the size of a closet. Rude arrogant front desk. Not helpful. Beds were size of cots. A/C did not work. Too hit to sleep. Breakfast was just OK. Nothing special. So very disappointed. Overpriced. But nice location across from a beautiful beach. Great restaurants nearby.

Response from Stefano P, Albergatore at Hotel La Scaletta
Responded 02 Aug 2023
Dear Ms. Shaw, I see you kept your promised revenge against us; very fair from you, considering you are blaming us for your mistakes. Let's start from the beginning: you contacted us from the airport claiming you had a shuttle booked and to our request to show us the booking of the service (which was not on our list of shuttles for the day) you sent us a screenshot from your mobile, where you specified your arrival time (changed respect to the original reservation) and that you needed twin beds (also changed respect to the original reservation), message that you claimed you sent to us through the chat of the Booking.com portal but we never received. At the end of the day, our receptionist asked you to show the message exchange and resulted you sent it to a non-responding email address (ie: no-reply@). Then you blamed us for the shuttle not being at the stall by your arrival (which besides should have been between 07:00 am and 08:00 am as per your original reservation) at 03:00 pm and that we were supposed to have a regular (ie: not on request) shuttle service, according to what published on our website (but you used Booking.com for the booking and the hotel page on that booking portal says that the hotel shall be contacted for costs and reservation); again when our receptionist showed on our website the page describing the transfer and shuttle services where it is described that advanced booking is mandatory ("The transfer services, both shuttle and private, are carried out by a professional driver and require advance booking; ...") you blamed our website for "poor web design" (ie: you just did not go through the whole info). While the above described was happening, you rushed into the hotel waving a taxi receipt of €50,00 that you wanted reimbursed by us and my colleague tried to explain you with all the kindness possible, that for the miscommunication you should have filed a complaint to the booking portal of your choice; moreover, having read the screenshot you sent, my colleague bothered to prepare the room according to your un-notified preference (ie: twins when the original booking was double) to not cause you any further inconvenience and offered you some fresh wine and water at your arrival because even when the guest is wrong on all the line, he/she is still a guest and shall be respected for this (this regardless of the respect shown by the guest to the person at the reception). About the rest of your genuine comments: our hotel is set in an historical building, dating back to 1938 so the rooms are not as spacious as the ones that more modern hotels may have but they are fully serviced; the beds, twin in your case, are regular 190cmx80cm single beds and the air conditioning system works perfectly only it is water-based (not gas-based) so the flow of the air is gentle, not brutally impacting the temperature. The fact that you were disappointed by your experience is subjective but nonetheless to be taken into account by us to try to improve the service we offer to the next guest; only I feel fair to mention the whole story, not leaving the best of it unsaid. That said, I sincerely hope you will have an extraordinary experience by the rest of your trip trough our beautiful Italy and I hope you'll be so kind to us to skip our hotel on your way back to the airport. Sincerely the manager (P.S: we are more than ready to provide proof of each word I wrote at any time)

We liked this hotel very much; location, rooms, cleanliness, breakfast and service were just great. After a few nice, but exhausting days in Rome, we spent our last vacation day here to come down and relax. We paid 10 Euros per person for a private shuttle to the airport.

We booked La Scaletta so we could explore Rome in the morning and then retreat to the coast away from the heat of the city. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy and cool so we were unable to execute the plan. That said, La Scaletta provided us with a wonderful base as the heart of the city was no more than an hour away via the local train and Metro. The hotel provided outstanding value for money. Our second-floor room, with a balcony overlooking the sea, was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, the quality of ingredients was above expectations and we were hosted by the delightful Lucy, she was so attentive and caring. Prior to our visit, David sorted out transport from the airport and was on hand, along with colleagues, to answer any questions we had during our stay. For a small hotel, they certainly punch above their weight for service and comfort and put many of the larger bland hotels to shame. Grazie Mille.

Hotel la Scaletta is located west of the City of Rome, Specifically south of the Rome Fiumicino (FCO) airport. Location: right on the water, We concluded our 3 weeks in Italy here due to it's close Proximity to the airport to catch our morning flight and The fantastic sunset on our final night in Italy. Facility: This is a small hotel, For better or worse: there is a McDonalds on the 1st floor. Some of the rooms on each floor Have Awesome views of boardwalk And Mediterranean Sea. Room: Small, but Clean and useful. Bed was comfortable, sheets were of good quality as well. Bathroom was tight, but everything worked, was clean and had quality Toiletries for guests. Shower was tiny, even for euro standards. Parking: we had a rental car, parking Is on the street, we found a spot right In front of the hotel. Spots are easier To find mid afternoon, gets harder in Late evening. Breakfast: this has room for improvement: small selection, small amounts (get up early if you want something). Whilst you can Ask for a Cappuccino, keep your expectations low on breakfast. Staff: What I wrote above ^ about Breakfast, was difficult because the Person that works the breakfast Room is such a hard worker, we didn’t catch her name, but the Reality of breakfast is no fault of hers, She was hustling between cleaning Tables to making coffees to trying Her best to accommodate what Little food the management of the Hotel provides on the daily. She gets 10 stars for her work Ethics! Conclusion: This is a Good Option For those on a small budget, looking For a economical but clean beach Experience in Italy. This is not for those Looking for ultra luxury nor for those Looking for glorious Breakfast Spreads (see some of my other Reviews for those). However this Is a great option if you want your last Night to be on the Beach instead of The airport parking lot. In theory, you Can do a cheap long weekend in Italy Here by just flying into FCO, grab a Taxi and go to the beach for a few Days. ( …. Not a bad idea I must admit)
