Our family visited Piggs Peak Hotel. The public areas are nice, the restaurant is clean but the furniture is old. The rooms are clean, but the furniture is old.
We ordered room service for dinner, and was very surprised about the food. The food is great and very reasonably priced, try the Chicken Strip Basket. The chips are also good.
The next morning with breakfast, we were once again surprised by the quality of the food, it is really good!
As far as the rooms goes, it is clean but nothing spectacular, but the food is really great and true value for money.
They also have a nice pool area and a lovely kids play area.
if the rooms were upgraded, this could be a fantastic hotel.

The government of Swaziland and the Orion Hotel chain terminated their contractual relationship in February 2012 over a dispute about money.

The hotel is open but being operated under the auspices of the Swaziland Government until a new contract with another operator can be negotiated. Most of the employees from the original Orion are still employed so there is continuity of service.

The property is decent and the management staff very friendly. Sadly, the hotel's occupancy has declined dramatically as the Swazi Government's marketing efforts are nonexistent. When I tried to book in Spring 2012, it proved impossible to even confirm the hotel was still open. When we stopped by in July to check things out, there was one coach group leaving. No other cars in the parking lot. Reservations desk confirmed they were open for business and happy to have guests but business is very slow. Restaurant is still operational.

If you are in the area, stop in and book a room. Great overnight location between Kruger and Durban area.

Location is very good. Close to the waterfall. 2 to 3km away is the waterfall. The hotel however need some renovation. Amenities in the room need some refurbishment. Food is ok but breakfast is excellent.

This is a very large hotel that badly needs rennervating, the rooms were very dated with plaster hanging off the ceiling in the bathrooms.
The pool area was very basic with broken tiles in the pool.
The food was unappetising and its difficult to find any positives about the place

We arrived after a long drive through the impoverished Swaziland (now Eswatini) we arrived at the hotel tired and ready for a rest. Some of the review relate that the hotel had run down during covid but efforts were being made to recover its quality. There were 9 of us in the group and we were very impressed with the hotel, rating it as one of the best of the trip. The location is excellent with good hiking opportunities, a large well maintained swimming pool and first class accommodations in every sense. In short, we found it delightful. The smiling staff was unendingly helpful, the food very good and the rooms excellent.

I was driving thru Swaziland and I truly mean "driving thru" as being my plan. But it got too late and I had to find a place to stay. I saw road signs advertising Orion Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino and followed them until I entered a grand looking palace compared to the rest of this horrendously poor country. Prices were very fare, and the room and complex was fabulous. Has a nice gym, restaurant, casino and common areas and grounds. But what really impressed me is that the land behind the hotel is a wildlife sanctuary. When I woke the next morning there was a pack of Zebra's 20 meters from my rear balcony. Really nice find and if I am every in the area, I will most definitely stay at this hotel complex. I have been all over Swaziland and there is nothing else this nice anywhere in the country.

This hotel is a Dump. There was stuffing coming out of room furniture, the mattresses were nasty and shabby, the water from the taps was so dirty and disgusting we used bottled water for 'bathing'.
The staff seemed oblivious to any of these problems being worrysome and it took a 'stand' by our tour group in the lobby to even get the bottled water made available without extra charge.
We chose not to eat from the restaurant, as a Chemist in our group pointed out, the brackish water was all ANYONE had to wash with, including kitchen staff. Thank goodness for 'trip snacks' most had packed for it was a long night at this hotel. They may have a Rolls Royce parked out front, but don't let it fool you. The hotel rooms are filthy and brokendown, elevators don't work (causing a handicapped member of our tour group to barely leave her room whilst there) and the staff seems to have only received training in giving you the, 'I am sorry there is nothing I can do' answer for any problem.
In doing some research it seems the Atlas Bus Company which many tour operators, including ours (Smartours) use, has some deal with this property which explains why we were forced to spend a night in the Swaziland version of the Bates Hotel, instead of travelling on and spending the night at the wonderful accomodations we found the next night at Kruger National Park.
If you are signing up for a South African Adventure, strongly protest any stay at this shameful facility.

What a disaster! Arriving as night fell, and greeted by AK47 toting guards, I made it to the front desk to claim my reservation, confirmed a couple of days earlier by the hotel by email. Turns out they'd bounced me, due to holding an All-Africa Poker Tournament and, as I was not a poker player, I was cleartly not likely to spend enough money. They did direct me to a newly buily facility 30km away, which many faint-hearts might not have been happy with in the dark in Swaziland.

Stayed at Pigs Peak Casino whilst in Swaziland on business. Hotel is very comfortable and staff friendly and accommodating. Not the biggest casino I’ve ever seen but wasn’t there for that reason so no issue. Not a huge amount of choice locally but did the job just fine. Excellent breakfast on my one night stay

I spent the Christmas weekend at Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino with my family. I hadn't been to that part of Swaziland in a very long time and so it was wonderful to visit the highveld and be surrounded by Piggs Peak's beautiful forests. The hotel itself is average with the rooms in desperate need of a revamp (at least upgrade to flat screen TVs - that might lift the rooms a bit). The food was also not anything to write home about, however the friendly staff and warm reception made me feel right at home.

I did enjoy the Christmas lunch and the entertainment that was provided, but was quite disappointed with the Christmas dinner, which was the same buffet food that we'd had for lunch. There was also no option for an ala carte menu - which I don't think is the norm. However, I do appreciate that when I complained about this, I was given a discount for my family dinner. Lastly, I didn't get to check out the hotel's modest casino but I enjoyed relaxing at the poolside bar and swimming with my daughter. Although not a five star hotel, Piggs Peak hotel and Casino has all the basic facilities.
