I loved this hotel! The recent refurb has been beautifully done - our room was great, really stylish and comfortable with brand new linens & lush products that reminded me of a top end spa. The restaurant, bar and reception areas have been refitted to a really high standard and oozed coaching inn charm but with a real contemporary feel. We chose the Bel and Dragon at The Red Lion for a belated anniversary celebration and couldn’t have been more delighted, we had a truly memorable stay. The food was great, and the service actually sparkled - I can’t believe how happy everyone was to work there! Wendover itself is a delightful market town, and the hotel is right there on the high street which is a real bonus and there is a generous car park. After such a good experience, we will definitely be back (always the acid test). Thank you Bel and Dragon for looking after us so well!

We stayed at the Red Lion this Friday as we had to pick up a friend from Heathrow Airport & as we had to drive from Liverpool thought it would be easier to stay over night close by. We chose the Red Lion for the location , as it was quite close to the airport & looked more inviting than the usual Airport Hotels you find around the world. The Red Lion is full of character & we both slept really well as the beds were comfortable. The receptionist was extremely friendly on our arrival. Nothing seemed too much trouble. There was ample free parking which was another bonus and the room was inclusive of a delicious breakfast. The waitress who served us in the dining room, I think her name was Tiana was so polite & helpful. It was a pleasure to be served by someone who was so gracious & attentive. There is a choice of breakfast. We both had the Granola, Berries & thick yogurt I had toast with smashed avocado, poached egg & a slice of black pudding. My husband had a vegetarian breakfast.. It also came with toast & jams, coffee tea & fruit juice. There was many other choices on the menu & was all included in the price. As we arrived late afternoon we decided to visit near by Windsor. Again this hotel is ideally located for lots of places. .The hotel is clean & comfortable & we can highly recommend it. It was good value with amazing staff.

We have now had two one night stays here and the fact we returned shows that we rated it highly. It appears to be an old coaching inn so the entrance to the large car park is through a fairly narrow archway. The rooms seem to be on the opposite side of the archway from the main pub/restaurant. We found the rooms comfortable and well equipped although the heating is idiosyncratic. This was our one complaint; that the radiators are controlled from reception and we had to go and ask for them to be switched on. The food in the restaurant is substantial and excellent. On our first visit we found the Sunday roast offering to be simply too big but items from the normal menu on our second stay were spot on. The staff are all friendly, professional and helpful. We have stayed in more "up-market" hotels and found the standards less good than the Red Lion hence the 5 star rating.

Service was slow at one point 4 members of staff seemed more interested in standing around bar area talking rather than check whether i was ready to order and the fact I'd pushed the menu aside should have been a clear enough indication that i was ready to order . Ordered a wild boar pasta but the portion size resembled a childs portion and it wasn't particularly hot and it severely lacked and meat or flavour . Couldn't get anyone's attention and as i was extremely hungry ate but left feeling as hungry as when i arrived. Certainly wouldn't return or recommend

It is an Old Coaching Inn and is now more of a Pub. The room we had was extremely noisy as it was on the main walkway out of the Hotel. We were only saved by the fact that due to everything having to close at 10pm, silence then reigned. So room 22 0r 23 is to be avoided. The heating could not be controlled and we roasted, but hopefully this can be fixed. An interesting experience!!
