We love visiting St Bernard's Peak - it is far from everything. The area is not as populated as the rest of the berg so we find it very relaxing and peaceful. The area is stunning for hiking and the most beautiful scenery. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxed - a great place to spend a few days to unwind and getaway.

You cannot get this value for money anywhere. The lodge is located in the most tranquil area surrounded by mountains, rivers and dams. The food is good old fashioned home cooking . You definitely won't go hungry. You will make new friends and get re-acquainted with old ones. The perfect place to get a group of friends together and celebrate a special occasion without breaking your bank balance,

As the new owners, Brad and SJ have transformed and overhauled the lodge. They are very friendly and really do go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and part of the family. The food is awesome, bar is stocked and with the new coffee bar, SJ can whip up the best coffee in East Griqualand.
The cottages are nestled along the river, with splendid mountain views and the sound of birds chirping all day long. Brad has stocked the dam with Rainbow Trout, for those who are keen on Flyfishing. There is endless space for hiking or mountain biking, the cave above the lodge, is just a short walk, it has bushman’s paintings and a waterfall, which you can drink out of on those hot days. Horses are available for an out ride, where you can take in the stunning views on horseback. Some activities around the lodge also include putt putt, a pool, jungle gyms and much more. The area is home to some of the best Flyfishing in Natal, and really is a home away from home.

Tucked away in a far away corner of KZN on the border with the Eastern Cape and Lesotho, this is a lodge where nature is given priority. Surrounded by waterfalls tumbling down into natural rock pools, lucern fields where reed buck hide, lakes and dams that support prolific bird life, mountain peaks with iconic names and cliffsides that collide into deep valleys and caves, the days seemed too short. Ian, Cheri and Rudi hosted our group of friends with outstanding hospitality. We were treated with country food, fireplace conversions and even sundowners in full view of grazing zebras! Numerous hiking paths, MTB trails, and horseriding are but a few of the outdoor activities on offer. A place to remember, a place that will entice the nature lover, a place to return to soon...

Looking for a country getaway, in the mountains, with an old world feel ... this is it! I spotted the name about 2 years ago did a Google search and added it to my List ... can say we were not disappointed. The owners Ian & Cheri have been here since 1998 and they are assisted by Rudi - manager & chef - and some friendly staff. The food was delicious and plentiful (thanks Rudi :) ) ... from the fellow guests comments I know all agreed with me! A fun time thoroughly enjoyed

We have been clients of St. Bernards for 13 years. We always love our stay and it is a great place to unwind and relax. Great homestyle cooking and friendly staff. its like a home from home. You can rest at the pool, take a horse ride, go on a gentle or vigorous hike, mountain bike or just socialise over a game of pool.

What a lovely day spend at St Bernard’s Peak Mountain Lodge. I took my Wife and Kids out for Mothers Day Lunch and was completely blown away. The location is stunning and service was incredible not to mention the spread that was put on for Mothers Day which was incredible and really great value. This hidden jem is a family destination getaway.

We are normally a self cater holiday makers but as this is not offered here unless you are camping we chose the catered option!! A beautiful peaceful venue where we cycled, standup paddled (on our own SUP) walked and could have fished. The hosts are wonderful and flexible and the food was amazing. The options for my vegetarian daughter were not store bought and she enjoyed them. A special effort was made for valentines day meal as well!!

What a great trip down memory lane staying at St Bernards was. Fantastic old fashioned country service and hospitality. Room was very comfortable with all the required amenities. 3 meals included in the price is something you do not very often, if ever these days.
All the staff were super helpful and friendly ... I will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed a well organised 5 hour horse ride in the Swartberg mountains. Horses were in excellent condition and so surefooted as we rode over the most magnificient countryside. I can highly recommend this outride for experienced riders.
