Located on a green golf course with mountain views, it is an ideal place for rest and located close to many activities The room was comfortable, A/C, full bath, very clean. The restaurant was excellent both for dinner and breakfast. The swimming pools looked murky and I would not consider using them.

We have been camping at Dragon Peaks for a good few years, and their campsite rates are very reasonable. Their grounds and facilities are well maintained and the ground staff are well trained, have good manners and are very friendly and patient with the kids. The activities are well organised and reasonable. The security is good and we always feel safe. We will definitely be visiting in future, as campers and in self-catering cottages.

We can't stay away! This trip has shown us so much that Management at Dragon Peaks Park care! We've been so incredibly impressed with the improvements made. Small things together amount to a lot.

In addition to that the staff have been so friendly and relaxed, working hard to make sure your needs are me covid safely in a very comfortable environment.

We've also been completely blown away by the food at the restaurant, massive helpings, very well priced and incredibly tasty!

If responsibility wasn't calling we would most definitely have extended our stay!

Thank you to everyone that is involved in making our stay the best ever!

We really had a terrible experience with this resort.
During the booking process our travel agent was informed that the rooms advertised on LekkeSlaap were not available. A further inquiry was made for other availability with which the reply was: ‘Well if it’s on LekkeSlaap, I suppose I have to help you.’
This was already a rocky start.

They had their Drakensberg Park Homes available, which we proceeded to book. We were informed that these are their budget rooms at R1000 per night, which was fine.

On arrival we realised budget rooms meant that they did not have to clean it whatsoever.
The unit had a horrible smell that they attempted to cover with an entire can of toilet spray.
The bedding was dirty, a few bugs crawling. We slept on towels being too scared to be bitten by something. The bath was brown and toilet leaking. We decided rather to leave.
Our travel agent informed us that they refused to refund us for our second night stay. We dropped the key at reception where we were not even greeted or asked about our night’s stay. After telling them about our horrible experience, the receptionist just looked at us.

Your photos online are NOT what the rooms are like at all.
Big, big disappointment, especially after losing R1000 and having the worst sleep.
This put a bad taste in my mouth after reading the fantastic reviews on here. No idea what happened. I attached a few photos for reference.

Just come back from 3 night getaway booked at very short notice directly with Dragon Peaks and not the online booking. Seem to have big problem with direct emails, as less than an 15 mins away from arriving received email saying no accommodation for dates! They had only seem the first email of about 5 I sent (second changed the dates) and not even the deposit confirmation was received apparently. Anyway, all OK as did have accommodation for the period. Stayed in Lake Suites no. 134. Very well appointed kitchen unit - surprisingly so. Wonderful view of Caithkin peak from balcony and kitchen window. Only gripes - tea towel left wet every day & with no oven glove (s) provided made getting stuff out of the oven dangerous. Also the room badly needs a coffee table for the armchairs near the patio door, otherwise nowhere to put a cup and had to bring over the bar stools and use those instead. Went on the Westline helicopter trip (Champagne Stopover) which can thoroughly recommend and is run from building on other side of Lake about 200m away on same grounds. Actually get to drink Champagne (kids sparkling juice) on top of Little Champagne berg. Amazing views. Resort very well placed for all the main attractions. Shop on site for self catering and another 4 Km away. Recommend only go to Falcon display (3 Km up the road) if the sky is very clear and sunny, otherwise bigger birds (eagles) can't get the thermal lift to get up high and don't fly them. They offered for us (all 30+ there) to come back next day for free to see again if clearer, but still a good event with what they could do given the conditions. Also, when planning dates, if you want to see the Drakensberg Boy's Choir ( which school is immediately next to entrance of resort) that they only perform on Wednesdays. Would have changed our dates had we known that.

We stayed in this resort during our last trip in 2010 and had happy memories. So, being in the Drakensberg area again, we made a booking for five nights. After three of those five nights, I am writing this review. The last time we stayed in Maluti Log Cabin number 14 and we liked that very much, because it is close to restaurant and bar. Nice when it pours from the sky, which happens quite a lot in Summer in this area of South Africa. But the resort has expanded quite a lot and we were now allocated number 48, a five minute walk from reception. When we arrived on Saturday the resort was busy, but on Sunday more than 80% of the guests left and it became quiet. That meant that the bar closed at ten. This resort is situated in a wonderful area with amazing views. A lot of activities and restaurants are within an hours drive. The log cabin is simple, but has good beds, a living room with kitchen, bath and shower. It was kept clean by daily service. In my memory it was more luxurious, but that is probably because I have changed and are now as an older man more used to four and five star accommodation than I was ten years ago. Great staff. A special recommendation for Chris at the bar. Overall, we are having a lovely stay, despite the many thunderstorms and power cuts that accompy those storms. The only disappointment was when I noticed that we could have booked the two bedroom bungalow a lot cheaper via Booking.com. We made the mistake to book directly at their site and paid 1,560 Rand a night. Booking offered the same bungalow (my Genius level 2 discount included) for 1048 Rand a night. So, compare the prices on several sights before booking here is my advise.

We camped here in December 2021, over Christmas and into the new year. this venue is great. although it was full, the bathrooms and ablutions were kept clean at all times and i never had a shower where there was no hot water. Well done management and staff for making my camping experience a great one.

This was our 4th time to Dragon Peaks. Once again the resort was an absolute treat. It caters for children and is safe to allow them the freedon to run around and explore and play. We stayed in the Park House which was such a great place with plenty living space and the kids loved being in the upstairs room. We were able to tube on the river and the pool is an absolute favourite with the family. Our bigger boys also enjoyed the games room. The setting allows relaxation but also allows for hikes / mountain biking and so much more. Having the Oaks supermarket on site is also a big plus. It really is a brilliant place to spend you holiday !

Dragon Peaks was recommended to us from friends who had been before and loved it. We had a wonderful time.

We stayed in one of the lakeside suites, and from the moment we put our bags down, we felt super relaxed. The units are simple, yet luxurious and the view is to die for. We had two Swallows who joined us for sundowners on the patio, a gaggle of Egyptian Geese babies who came to rest on the bank next to the unit, and the horses came to graze on the edge of the lake at sunset. How perfect! We had every intention of getting up early on Sunday to go for a hike, but the bed was far too comfy to move :)

What impressed us most was the incredible condition, and the excellent management of the horses and the stables. My husband and I had the most awesome horse ride under the experienced guidance of Lynn. Is is such a treat to ride at a resort that clearly cares of their horses unconditionally, and Lynn was a spectacular guide and made sure that inexperienced riders were safe at all times. Vusi the groom clearly loves the horses in his care too and was patient, kind and so willing to please. We had a very relaxed walk through the exquisite trail on the property. I cannot praise the stable management enough. The horses all seem very happy.. and their zebra mate that hangs out with them does too.

We loved it and will definitely be back. Thank you to the staff, especially Sarah at reception, Lynn and Vusi at the stables for making our stay so pleasant.

Hi Jan, We have numerous trails on our property and are also 11 km away from Monks Cowl Nature Reserve where permits can be obtained for hikes on there property. With regards to the rock pools, we have a river that runs through our property with pools. These must however be used on discretion as flash floods are a reality and we are not liable for any problems that occur.
