Good morning, How disappointing our stay was at The Venue Hotel in Hartebeespoort. I'm not sure where to start so I'll start at the beginning of our stay! My biggest mistake was not going onto Hello Peter to see the reviews ☹. Well done you have a star rating of 1-star. That’s pathetic. 1. We got there and NOT one Covid protocol was followed, no one reminded us to sterilize our hands, the stand was hiding behind the entrance, no temperatures were taken or recorded so at this lodge Covid is not an issue. 2. The RUDE receptionist BARELY greeted us, with NO MASK on and seemed rather annoyed we were distracting her from whatever she was busy with. She had ZERO personality, unfriendly and barely offered us the information we needed. 3. When I made the reservation we were told we can't use the pool due to Covid and then well no one bothered to update us that things have changed and that we could make use of the pools. So there was a poolside relaxation opportunity missed. 4. We got to a room that was COMPLETELY mediocre and needed a sh*t load of work, the sliding door screamed each time you tried to open and close it. The bathroom handles are falling off and there aren't even covers over the light switches. One of the plug points had melted and couldn't be used so the bedroom was a disaster in and of itself. 5. At no point were we advised we were allowed to bring our own drinks as the other guests around the pool had cooler box after cooler box of drinks while we had to order from the bar. 6. Anyway sitting down to lunch I had to ask the waiters to put their masks on, again no Covid at this resort, very lax and nonchalant. No protocols are cares were taken. 7. Thereafter an evening at the spa, we returned to a room that's plugs had tripped and had to call for assistance. Then the kettle wouldn't work and to top it off the Wi-Fi couldn't be fixed. What makes me super sad is that I staked my 8 year anniversary on this place and it was so terrible, I booked it for my husband and I and I was so embarrassed, just so you know we ran out of there to rather pay for breakfast somewhere else because we couldn't bring ourselves to being there anymore. Luckily I can post this review everywhere so people don’t make the same mistake I did.…
The Place is hospitable and off the beaten track. Value for money. Location of The Venue Country Hotel is convenient, all other places of interest within striking distance in the Hartebeespoort area. The staff very friendly and the service is up to scratch. The Lesedi Cultural Village is opposite the Venue Country Hotel as well as the Lion enclosure next door.
What a lovely place to stay. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and informative. The room was lovely and the bed really comfortable - just what we needed. In fact, we enjoyed our night there so much, we stayed for two.
I came to The Venue (resturaunt) twice and the service has never been Good. Both experiences were the worst. The restaurant staff does not care about the customers needs and they are very unprofessional and bad trained. The manager has a very bad attitude. And the food does not taste good. First time they served me stale burgers. The second time it was cold food. And no one cared to ask if i need a drinks menu or anything to drink.
My partner and I checked into THE VENUE COUNTRY HOTEL AT HARTIES on 10th November. We dropped off our luggage in room 65, went out to Harties for sightseeing when we came back after 2hrs30mn all our personal belongings were stolen. That day the same incident happen to room 64 (room next door to us) We lost everything (cloths, jewelries, money gift and money) It took the manager on duty hour to attend to our grievances and almost 4 hours to move us to a different room because we were not longer safe to sleep in room 65. The room that was given to us after the incident as a replacement had 2 singles bed instead of queen size bed initially requested by me when I was making my reservation. In the morning NO tooth brush or tooth paste were offered to us for our morning hygiene. No follow up was done in the morning with regards to our wellbeing. We did not see any sense of urgency from the staff to assist us during our awful and unforgettable experience. I have noticed later that the hotel doesn't have adequate security in their premise .Very poor security. No CAMERAS AND LIGHT AROUND THE PREMISES AT NIGHT . Further to that to the theft happening in their premises, guest /cars were not checked when exiting or entering the premises. The Hotel doesn’t want to take full responsibility of the incident and the lack of security. I did NOT receive any calls from the management with regards to the incident (I initiated the conversation with the manager Deon) I will appreciate the management take full responsibility of the incident and find a suitable solution with regards to our stolen luggage. WE SURELY WILL NOT ALLOW OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO GO THROUGH THE SAME TRAUMA we went through. It has been worst experience ever for us . I am still looking forward for the management to take responsibility of our lost luggage (which we reported to the police) and find a suitable arrangement to reimbursed our lost items…
