Detailed Reviews
With a much needed break, Mount Amanzi was the perfect location to get away and was an amazing resort for a little break away from busy life in Johannesburg.
The resort is maintained beautifully... and although we did not go away with kids, it is well catered for entertaining your kids. There is enough space to the resort to find your space of privacy

Beautiful gardens, nice walking trails. It was a great base to explore and site see around Harties. The restaurant offered good value for money so much so that we did not once had to cook during the week. We loved the Madiba shirts of the personel !!

Had an excellent time and will return soon. The staff were warm and accommodating which made our stay a pleasure. I am glad to see that the facilities are well maintained and abundant so very little need to leave the resort to have fun. Will definitely recommend to family and friends

There were discrepancies between your information and Booking.com. The result was that I double booked as Booking.com indicated that there was only two beds per room, whilst your minimum beds are 5 per room. After a very long negotiation and conversation between Mount Amanzi staff and Booking.com, one room was cancelled. Mount Amanzi would not reimburse me and neither would Bookig.com as it was done on the day that we arrived, I did not receive any reimbursement yet I'm sure the payment was received by Mount Amanzi.

Stayed in a 5 sleeper unit from 3/1 to 10/1 that was well maintained and furnished. Maintenance of resort is very good. Food from restaurant was good. Fantastic facilities however in busy season challenging to access equipment for tennis, putt putt etc...also have to pay for these facilities so frustrating to be repeatedly told that equipment was not available. Also observed families holding onto equipment at their units but not using them. Recommend that management look at a booking system to ensure access to all - have experienced this system at other resorts and it works well. Would still strongly recommend this resort.

This is an excellent resort in so many ways and the other reviews will explain why. What I wish to highlight in this review is that you must not be here on a Monday morning if you want to have a peaceful time. The gardening staff are completely inconsiderate using any number of motorised devices (especially leaf blowers - I thought that these had become redundant), strimmers, tractors etc. So not only does one have to put up with the noise but also the stench of exhaust fumes right on your patio.
In addition they have the annoying habit at shouting at each other across the way. This is quite common place in South Africa though.
What I would suggest to management is that staff use manual non-motorised devices to carry out the maintenance that is required. This would provide more peace to the guests and therefore a more pleasurable experience.

Firstly the check in was awful 1 hour 30 minutes later than stipulated. Huge loadshedding issues, generators do not work in the chalets. Staff are unhelpful they will not assist with simple issues like extra towels. The entertainment room has a pool room with cues that are not even usable. Generally this resort standard has dropped drastically.

Not much privacy - joining houses and clear view of your neighbour
Houses are small and feel cramped
It is closeby the KOSMOS area with lots of activities and if you go to Mount Amanzi and use it as a base only it is ok, but you will get bored if you stay there only
There is nothing special about the place. You get the idea that the owners found this great spot on the river and tried to cram as much accomation possible into the spot and actually destroyed the inner beauty of the place...
It seems that the closer the destinations are to the large cities the worse the value for money
Travel further and be surprised!

Lovely, spacious chalet that is cleaned daily. Well equipped and comfortable.
The lodge is situated in a beautiful wooded area and the lodge itself is very attractive with lots of activities and amenities.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Our only problem is that the parking is at a very steep incline, which is difficult for seniors like ourselves to negotiate. Older residents are advised to book on the level areas of the lodge.

Dear Natasha,
The 4 Karee units in your enquiry are all Studio units, yes.
This resort also offers 6 and 8 sleep units should you require alternate options.
The 6 and 5 sleepers that I have been in only had 1 bathroom.
We uave been there 4 times now.
Often it isnt too far to a public area bathroom... we have cases were we just went for a walk if our house mate was bathing or taking ages ;)
Hi,
We did not notice the renovations while we stayed there.
Thanks
Tracy
