1. Rosie the manager is super helpful, right from arranging WiFi in the room (by default is not available). She went extra steps to make us comfortable
2. The ocean view room is splendid, with breath taking views of blue waters and white sand beaches
3. I could not find any litter on the beach, and was relaxing to walk on on the beach
4. The breakfast is continental and it's palatable
5. The property is huge, and houses Manu rooms, however, we were travelling off season, and we were the only ones.
6. The restaurant and bar were kept open just for us into the night

I rayed at coral reef hotel , the views are wonderful, the beach is clean and it's nice to watch the locals going about there business. The pool and grounds are kept very clean Sadly the food from the restaurant was not very good and caters for the Italians that stay in the hotel (pasta, pizza etc) the last meal I had gave me food poisoning for 5 days so ruined it for me. The rooms are basic and are in need of a lot of renovation. At the time I was there they were busy renovating some rooms, there are 85 rooms but only 45 were in use due to them needing renovation . The local staff are friendly and always helpful and go out of there way if you need anything. But for me I would not return and I would not recommend it

nice place to stay but masai boys come to the rooms with the tourist girls and are Always in the pool when the boss is not around and that is not good. they did not pay for the room and the swimming pool and disturb our privacy
nice place when the boss is around, when he is not there, the local masai take advantage of the hotel
so boss stay around your place all the time in the interest of yourself and the guests

I recommend the place. Peaceful in a local style. The beach is beautiful and magical. Lovely service. They fulfilled every request and helped organize the stay. The service boys are nice, friendly, caring and helpful. They told us a lot about their beautiful country. The whole Masai culture gave us security, great knowledge and friendships for many years. Thank you all.

This was the worst experience of my life- avoid this hotel at all cost!! We booked to stay at this hotel for 6 nights paying €200 a night (€1200 in total) so we though the place would be okay. This hotel was hell on earth, rundown, no air-conditioning and extremely rude staff. We ended up staying one night and could not bear it another minute so cut our losses and paid €1200 for one night and left. When we tried to leave the owner (a rude Italian women) wanted to take a photocopy of the front and back on my credit card. When I told her I was not happy about leaving a copy of my card she became very angry and aggressive shouting at us in the middle of the hotel. We then waited 3 hours before she went to the bank to collect a credit card machine. Waiting in a dirty old hotel for 3 hours on the first day of your holiday to pay a bill of over €1200 for one night in a hotel was not a good experience.
Summary:
Staff: Extremely rude, I cannot stress this point enough; we genuinely would have been treated better in prison. We were screamed at on more than one occasion and felt threatened and intimidated my all staff member s especially the owner- absolutely discussing behavior.
Food: was awful it was €20 for warm/cold soup, “seafood” pasta (the seafood was nonexistent and also freezing cold). Keep in mind I work in the bush in Uganda and have also worked in poor areas of Pakistan. I am a minimalist but do expect basic standards especially when paying €200 a night.
Bedroom: DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY! The “mattress” was a piece of foam. There was regular power cuts which I would expect in a developing country but would also expect a generator to power at least one light in the room. There was no air conditioning. The room was really hot and stuffy. The curtains didn’t fully cover the window. We tried to tape the curtain to the wall (unsuccessfully) as a result everyone that passed the window could look in and see us asleep in bed.
Bar: the bar was dead with no music (even light background music) dark and had a depressing and creepy atmosphere.

AVOID!!!!!!!

We were sent to this hotel when we were turned away from the Ora Makuna Majiwe one we booked and paid for and after visiting Myblue in Nungwi. Again, in the brochure it looks ok, even on sites it looks okay. But, it's very run down, the swimming pool was green and the food was terrible and almost non-existant! The 'breakfast' was the poorest I've seen in a hotel. They didn't even have butter! Tea or coffee was a shared flask... In the evening the salt and pepper pots had to be shared and returned to a communal table. It was a very depressing experience. The local staff though were very friendly with us as were the Director and his wife (although they only spoke Italian) they were very sympathetic and completely understood that we couldn't stay in such a squalid place, especially when they found out how much we had paid for the bungalows at Hakuna Majiwe. The bungalows that we had been promised to replace the ones we had booked down in Paje turned out to be two abandoned rooms, filthy and in my view un-fit for human habitation - certainly not a family on holiday. They tried to 'spruce' them up with paintbrushes while we there waiting and were going to 'replace' the screens/windows. I was not allowed to take photos...They did have other bungalows that looked nice but the hotel infrastructure is very much in need of investment. It looks like they're closing down. I don't know how much an Italian package costs - very cheap I imagine...I would strongly advise people to avoid this hotel and all the other Ora Hotels as the three we visited were of very poor standard and to go all the way to beautiful Zanzibar and stay in one would ruin anybody's holiday!

We booked through airbnb, great success! They wanted to attract travellers from different places (the guests are mainly Italian and the management likewise) and priced it very reasonably. I hope they keep up the good work, together with the price. I'm not into chi-chi resorts and this is by no means a 5-star, but it's very attractive and well kept, the common areas are beautiful and peaceful. The bathrooms need to be renovated asap if they want to step up, as drainage and bathroom fixtures are old and the bathroom wasn't clean....
HOWEVER - we enjoyed our stay a LOT - friendly staff, friendly management, beautiful place, a real treat. Loved it loved it loved it.

Terrible hotel, we were staying just one night there and we have booked another hotel. We paid for one night 260 US Dollars and please see pictures!!!! The hotel was also fighting with the workers (we took video) about non paid salary. I was sleeping in the clothes becasue I had fear to get something bad from the bed and we did not took shower there. On the pillows was mildow and "mushrooms", were smelling bad. I have booked villa 50m2 with sea view - but there was no sea view. The breakfast was terrible, just one old cake - so we eaten breakfast in the neighbouring hotel. No internet. The towels were smelling also bad. Generally hotel not clean. Finally we found on the same beach a nice hotel and we stayed there. Tthis hotel has generally very bad reputation and many tourists skip this hotel after one night. No air conditioner in the room. From walls everywhere the nails coming out - dangerous for kids.

Please read all comments about this hotel before you book - I did not done it and I regret.

We stayed at Surfescape (no restaurant or communal facilities there) next door so were pretty much forced to dine at the Coral Reef Beach Resort and my god, it was absolutely gross. The food was comically bad and the staff were quite sullen also, we heard a story from another guest whose order was wrong - she was then told that if they didn't accept the extra meal it would be deducted from a teenage staff member's pay... I was also accused of not paying for breakfast one morning whilst I was at the beach - we only made the mistake of eating breakfast there once and we definitely paid for it. This area is incredibly isolated and the nearest 'supermarket' that houses no fruit/veg/meat is approx. an hour away. Also, don't order from Blue Fish takeaway like we were advised, it's also pretty crap. We really struggled in this area for good food and used endless taxis to other hotels in search of sustenance. Be prepared!

We booked through air bnb at very short notice. We were travelling on a budget and this place was very cheap at £22 per night for a double room.

We arrived to the incredibly grand reception area and were greeted with a delicious cold fruit juice and taken to our room. The room was spectacular for the price. Right on the beach, 3 room bungalow. The bedroom featured a large 4 poster bed, artistically made up with local flowers and was air conditioned - a real treat in this part of the world!

Food is about the same price as you pay at any of the resorts (around $20pp for meaty and $14 for veggie). The menu was different every night but the food was Italian style. A pasta course followed by a main. Strongly recommend the gnocchi if you can get it, best we've ever had!

Pool area is lovely and the pool is great for a slightly cooler swim. In the afternoons the sea is more than 30 degrees C!

This is clearly not the same hotel as the one that has received so many terrible reviews. We were told that it opened with new management a month ago. Simone the manager is incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating (for example, when we explained we were vegetarian, and that we had run out of cash due to the lack of ATMs on the island, he helped us out!)

Hi! We left the hotel 8.01.2021 at 6.50, the day before I approached the assistant hostess, I asked if he would work at this time, he told me that he would be in the office "bring me towels and the key and I will return the deposit" as a result, within an hour no one appeared in the office or at the reception, only massai who took the keys and towels.. when asked about the deposit, they made puzzled faces. As a result , we left, the deposit of $ 25 was not returned to us. How will you address this issue? We are from Russia.
