On the website Glazebrook they say that re-opening post lockdown it will be Glazebrook light. It’s not. It’s the same Glazebrook that I love.
Still welcomed like you’re their favourite guest, just that they are wearing masks and you can’t see their lovely smiles.
Still beautiful rooms just with more distancing and more cleaning.
Still exceptional service just with more distance and no hugs.
Still fabulous food just a slightly smaller menu but still with plenty of choice and something for everyone’s taste.
Still absolutely beautiful gardens but with added igloos where you can literally be in a bubble!
The time and care they are putting in to keep everybody safe is exceptional. Cutlery and napkins in sanitised bags, furniture wiped down after every customer, masks and sanitiser in the bedrooms for guests to take away, one way system for restaurant, sanitiser station on arrival. So if you are nervous about going out in these crazy times you can be sure you’ll feel as safe as you can be at the Glazebrook.
It’s absolutely still THE Glazebrook, just safe not light! The only bad thing about the Glazebrook is having to leave...

My wife booked a night for a belated anniversary treat and when she said it was Alice in wonderland themed i was a bit.... MMM ok? As you walk in it is welcoming with some English oddities from the antique kayak Frame in the entrance, the plane wing desk at reception and the most ornate vintage birdcage (minus bird) i have seen. We were greeted in a professional manner and shown to our room.
The room as described by my wife was Alice in wonderland themed but not garishly, it was subtle yet easy to see what the theme was.
We had booked a table for our evening meal and from being shown to our table to paying the bill the service, along with the food was exquisite.
The overnight stay was comfortable on the supersized bed and the bathroom was huge :-)
Awake in the morning and down for breakfast, again the hosts and food was excellent.
As we organised ourselves and headed to reception to finalise the bill we spoke to the owner and discussed the hotel from concept to realisation and was a real pleasure to talk to.
If you decide you don’t want a night away i would highly recommend the restaurant raunt for dinner or even breakfast as the quality of the food is Suber at a comparatively reasonable price.

First outing for months and I was a little anxious. However, I needn’t have been. Staff were wearing masks/visors, QR code menus, sanitizer everywhere. Our dinner was in a private dining room and food was divine. Breakfast was served individually, with no buffet or ‘shared’ space/ facilities with others. Go and support/enjoy Glazebrook if and when you can; there aren’t enough unique hotels in south Devon and we need to keep it!!

Wow, what can I say this place exceeded all of our expectations.
We found Glazebrook house last minute trying to find a hotel due to our trip to Amsterdam being cancelled. I am so glad we found it as it has got to be the best hotel we have stayed in so far and I would like to think we have stayed in a few beautiful places but this one topped them all.
Firstly the hotel was absolutely magnificent, every corner turned was an excitement. The hotel is like no other I have seen. The design of the hotel is beautiful and quirky. Social distancing is adhered too and hand sanatiser is lay out throughout the hotel.
Our room had the wow factor, it was absolutely stunning the bed was so comfy, our bodies sunk into it. We had his and hers showers with the added extra of underfloor heating. In the room we had a complimentary mini bar and a basket of snacks. It also had an I pad and a television with Netflix.
The food was delicious and was well presented.
Secondly the staff were all very friendly and happy to help. I would like to give a mention to the bar manager (sorry I didn't get your name) who made the effort to have conversations with us and made us feel extremely welcome. It was also lovely to have the owner walking around, it added a personal touch to the place and we got to know a little bit of the history of the hotel.
Finally I would like to thank everyone at Glazebrook house for making our time there enjoyable it is a birthday I will remember. We will definitely be back.
To anyone thinking of booking, do it. You will not be disappointed.

We visited the Glazebrook for dinner previously, and were shown round the hotel by our charming host - who knew how to sell the rooms!
We stayed for several nights for a decompression holiday. We had loved the unique decor of the hotel on our previous visit and were looking forward to our stay. The rooms are all individually styled and furnished to an exceptional standard. The staff are all professionally attentive and personable and the service is second to none. The food is also of a high standard - my only quibble was that there were only a few vegetarian options on the dinner menu did not change during our stay.
Otherwise, 10/10 and I cant wait to visit again.

I must admit, having booked a stay at the hotel to celebrate our anniversary I arrived with some trepidation due to a few negative reviews. However, these were totally dispelled when we arrived at the hotel and received such a warm welcome. Indeed throughout our entire stay all staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and we were always made to feel special.
So, the hotel is unique with themed decor throughout, all of which has been beautifully and tastefully thought through. There have been necessarry changes due to Covid but these do not detract from the beauty of the hotel and meant we did always feel safe. The whole hotel felt spotlessly clean.
We stayed in the Mad Hatter room which was large, comfortable and 'fun'. The quality of the furnishngs and the detailing within the room were very special.
We ate in the restaurant, why wouldn't we, and were both pleased and suprised by the innovative menu and the quality of the food, it was delicious. Although restrictions mean the bar is closed for 'drinks' we were able to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails at our table, including my Martini made by the owner of the hotel!
All in all we would thoroughly recommend a stay at Glazebrrok House and infact plan on returning in the summer when we hope both the pandemic situation and the weather will have improved.

Having read the 1* review below there must be more to this than meets the eye.
As one of many patrons who have regularly supported The Glazebrook both pre & post Covid, I can only commend Pieter and the team on their efforts and compliance to the Covid regulations we all have to currently live with.
Whilst I appreciate they can be frustrating to some, these guidelines are there to protect us all, both guests and staff.
On my most recent visit for Sunday lunch, I was most impressed with Pieter and the team's seamless efforts to ensure our visit was both welcoming and enjoyable, given the challenges presented by the current regulations.
The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed our meal on the terrace surrounded by the beautiful gardens. The new woodland Igloo's are a definite must for our next visit!
As always, the roast beef fillet was cooked to perfection with a gorgeous selection of seasonal vegetables. Shammy was as attentive as ever and a wealth of knowledge, I now have a new favourite wine! Pieter, the perfect host, ensured we all had a wonderful time whist ensuring social distancing rules were considerately adhered to
A wonderful experience as always in challenging times, well done Pieter and the team

We cannot be more delighted with the time we spent at the Glorious Glazebrook House. We were nervous about travelling and staying somewhere during COVID but we were put at ease immediately. The professionalism, cleanliness and re-assurance provided by Piete and his team.
It is the most gorgeous hotel in the world, a real dreamland and it really did feel like an escape. The decor is fascinating and beautiful, such fun. The food was incredible and very reasonable and the team really did everything possible to make this an enchanting and memorable time.
We cannot thank Piete and the Glazebrook team enough for all that they did to make this a wonderful time. The White Rabbit room was saved specially for us and it was the most remarkable room we have ever stayed in with the most comfortable bed you can imagine.
Shammy was a magician behind the bar and served us up some tea treats after our meal. We love cocktails, but these are next level, he is an expert and so charming all the while.
All we can say is that this place is magical and incredibly special. We will never forget our first anniversary here and certainly will be returning often to keep celebrating our marriage.
Thank you so much x

This Hotel & Restaurant is a favourite of ours, the decor is fascinating and the theme of Alice in Wonderland is really something to look at.
Pieter and Fran the hosts are truly lovely people and every visit feels special.
As for the food .... to die for, our current favourite is the fine dining Fish and Chips .... so good we keep booking.
Request a private room if there is 4 of you, we take my parents ... it makes them feel like film stars ❤️

The Glazebrook is a lovely unique hotel, with an interesting g collection of objet d’art scattered around the hotel. The hotel has very pretty gardens with Igloo pods that make great options for afternoon tea. Our room the White Rabbit had an enormous ‘teddy’ bed and a wonderful marble bathroom. Every thing you might need has been provided for you in the rooms from the complementary stocked mini fridge (nice touch) to the fully stocked tea & coffee options. The room has pre-set lighting options and was very spacious. We had two excellent breakfasts (no buffet due to Covid restrictions) but a cake stand of pastries, yoghurt & fruit was provided instead as well as a cooked breakfast. We booked dinner for the two nights of our stay and it was excellent. The Crab & Pea Pannacotta was particularly good. The well travelled owner Pieter was really helpful with suggestions of places to visit locally and has chosen some talented staff, particularly his barman and chefs.
It is a challenging time running a business making your hotel welcome whilst at the same time keeping guests safe and socially distanced. Pieter and his team managed it really well.

For lunch, dogs are allowed outside on the patio under leash control as well as in the garden igloos where afternoon tea and cream teas are served. Not inside the hotel unfortunately.
Similarly when we stayed breakfast was included in the room rate (which included gluten free options for my partner throughout our stay), at breakfast the gluten bread or rather toast option, was of such a tasty quality, I also ate some in preference. Excellent breakfast overall, dining in the dining-room bay window table was a great experience as with everything at the Glazebrook.
