new management came in swinging baseball bats at people who have been coming here for 20+ years like me. first they made us pay the fee and then decided to make their staff start kicking us out of our favorite fishing spot. for years we got over the steep price we already paid just out of respect for silver cove employees. we even $16 a car which was a tall bill if you ask any fisherman. I paid it to support business and I know all the people who work there. They are respectful and take good care of us regulars. Now its $21.50 a head and no one goes anymore. looks like they are just trying to weed us out. but you wont do that we will show up on the boat lol. you just screwed yourselves new management!!!!
$21.50 per day to fish for panfish is too much. Screw this place. I'm using my boat from now on. Greedy corporate people. Raising it on us poor black working folks. You should be giving us oppressed black people a discount.
The park itself is nice BUT we stayed in The middle loop where the camp spots are literally out in the open with no privacy, incredibly uncomfortable and large gravel that is hard to walk on, the grassy areas are covered in geese poop which I'm not opposed to as we are camping but it's hard to avoid whilst walking dogs, young kids etc. I wouldnt recommend for swimming due to the goose poop and you are essentially paddling through swamp gunk. Nice to watch the boats and paddlers cruising the canal though. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the grounds are well maintained and clean. Just overall atmosphere I am not a fan of for camping.
We stayed overnight in a small cabin here at the end of a long wet day walking near Mount St Helens. It was THE most welcome home away from home - a friendly welcome at the front desk (which included free biscuits - sorry, cookies!), a cosy living room, an extremely very well equipped kitchen with full size stove and fridge, a very comfortable bed, snuggly fleece blankets, and an abundance of towels and toiletries - all sparkling clean. Outside, fairy lights and Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake (and a picnic table and grill if we had wanted one). We could even hear the frogs croaking to each other as the sun went down. If you’re looking for a cabin in the area this is seriously recommended; a lovely spot and so well appointed. They should shout about the cabins more on the website, they’re really lovely and excellent value. Definitely recommended.…
We’ve stayed at other Highway West Resorts and have found that all of them are very nice. We opted for a site not on one of the canals, personal preference. We loved having the trees and wild blackberries behind our site. Our site was pretty level, nice fire pit and picnic table. They had wood available for purchase if you need to buy some. Restroom facilities were clean and they have a large lounge room, patio lounge with fire pits and wi fi available for all to use. This was a great location for visiting Mt. St. Helens which was what brought us to this location. We were lucky and had a beautiful sunset from our site.
