Stayed here as part of a group walking holiday. I really don’t recognise some of the comments made by earlier reviewers and in fact wonder if they had even stayed at the hotel, or were competitors seeking to ‘bad mouth’ the place. The reception staff were friendly, efficient and multi lingual, switching seemingly effortlessly from Portuguese to English to German as required. The place was spotlessly clean everywhere. The rooms were well decorated, nicely furnished and the service was first class. I accidentally spilt a bit of tea on my top sheet on the second to last night and when I came back the sheet had been changed, no request to do so, just done automatically. The beds were great, firm and comfortable. Pillows were large and ample. The shower gushed hot water and a fixed shower lotion dispenser, topped up regularly, was provided. The waitress Ingrid in the restaurant was wonderful, as was the bar man Karim. Both spoke excellent English and looked after us very well. The food was a limited menu for our group but every dish was fine, the food varying from good to excellent. My only complaint was that at breakfast, only one type of roll was available to go with the three choices of each of ham and cheese, the fruit, the yogurt, the cereals, and the cooked breakfast for those who like that (one choice of roll - first world problems.......) This is a lovely hotel in a small resort. It’s great. I’d go again tomorrow if I could. I just hope that in the current crisis, all the hard working and friendly staff haven’t lost their jobs. …
A weeks stay on a walking holiday and we enjoyed this place. Some odd criticisms made us a bit wary but it’s good to correct them. Reception: very good friendly and efficient at all times. Pillows: certainly not envelopes, plump and soft. Beds:on the firmer side yes, but rock hard? Certainly not. Slept well. Bar and kitchen staff were absolutely top notch. Karim and Ingrid were attentive and friendly at all times. Real assets for the hotel.Want your soup extra hot ? No problem..potatoes rather than chips?easy. As a group we were choosing from a short choice menu but we all enjoyed every dinner which was refreshingly local with a home cooked edge, miles from the international buffet we have had quite enough of. And I really enjoyed breakfast which included the best bacon I’ve ever had outside the UK. The rooms have had a refresh and are fine, very clean with plenty of storage and tea making....unusual in Europe and most welcome. We liked this place! …
Nice room with sea view. Bathrooms need updating none existing toiletries. Tea making facilities in room no milk Breakfast below average very little choice. Cooked breakfast placed near doorway with no covers over the food tin fruit salad and fresh melon. Some of the reception /restaurant staff not very accomating. Not a good atmosphere.
Decent rooms, location is ok, but requires a car. What really brought the visit down was the restaurant staff, especially during breakfast. The bold, fat little man with a ponytail had the nerve to tamper with our food when we weren't looking, and wouldn't inform us about it until we got up and started asking about it. I don't normally like strangers touching my food behind my back, but it's especially bad when it's during an active flu outbreak. Unbelievably unprofessional. Apparently there are new owners and most people I talk to seems to agree that everything has become worse at this hotel.
An excellent 4* hotel, with all rooms either east or west facing and hence with sun on the balcony. Spacious room, walking distance to beach and Praia da Luz centre. Close to Lagos. Beautiful views from the balcony. And cheap in October.
