Two night was not enough time to experience the wonder that is Sunset - Vincent, Toni, Beauty, Future and the entire staff at Sunset (including Michael) made this visit the best part of our visit to South Africa. The accommodations are well kept (we especially loved the outdoor showers), food cooked fresh (especially the red velvet cookies, which were a hit) and the staff could not be more welcoming. We had the pleasure of having Vince join our tour to Kruger and his knowledge / photography skills are unmatched. Right outside our door there were giraffes - it was incredible. Great few days all around.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the lovely review. The Kruger visit was as much a treat for myself as it was for you. Watching guests experiencing the wonders of the Kruger National Park for the first time is indeed a treat in itself and then watching them learn from the experience is very rewarding. The Red Velvet Cookies was a first time try but now they will feature on the menu on a permanent basis. We have passed on your compliments to the staff and I can tell you they were delighted and very appreciative, it is wonderful to see them being recognised for the hard work they put in as we work as a team. So, from the Team at Sunset, keep well until next time, Vincent.

From start to finish, this holiday was perfect; before we arrived we questioned Vince and Toni’s vast local knowledge and experience to help plan the best options for our family, with 12 and 13 year old boys, getting the balance of trips and excursions was key for our experience.
We stayed for 10 nights at the lodge and loved every second, sitting with Toni and Vince each morning and night for food, relaxed and listening to the depth of information that they had about the area, flora and fauna as well as talking to other guests and hearing stories of what we had all seen and done was a great touch, it felt very personal as they cared about ours and the other guests enjoyment.
This lodge has a homely feel too it, the team of staff work well together and they always greet you with a smile, the food is homemade, plentiful and tasty, the bedrooms and general areas are clean and comfortable.
Thanks to Vince, Toni and the team for making one boy’s (now adult’s) dream come true; when we left home, he, his wife and two sons had an amazing holiday planned, but you made it even better when we got there, a holiday that enriched us all; we could have stayed anywhere and seen the animals, but we were fortunate to stay with you and experience your hospitality…we will be coming back.

We were in October in South Africa and had the pleasure of staying for a week at the Sunset Game Lodge.
As we set our foot on the property, we were captivated by its natural beauty and the surroundings.
Our room was spacious, well decorated and we loved it's natural charm. We were surprised every morning by the wild animals passing right by our terrace, including warthogs, giraffes and buffalo.
The incredible level of service provided by the staff and the hosts Vince and Toni, was another highlight of our stay. Their graciousness and attentiveness made us feel special. We loved hearing about their local insights, culture or just simple engaging in their conversation.
Every day the hosts created a menu according to our wishes including vegetarian and meat options. They even joined us at table outdoors for the meals, which was simply phenomenal.
We enjoyed the pool and a great variety of the activities such as the Bush walk, Game Drive, Mariepskop Mountain and Blyde River Canyon.
To conclude we were left with beautiful memories of Sunset Game Lodge and its fascinating location but also a deep appreciation and connection with these gracious hosts and their staff.

This was the only place we went to in South Africa where we were not affected by load-shedding because they owners have solar panels and wind turbines. I make a point of saying this because being at Sunset Lodge and Safaris was the only time where we didn't have to worry about not having power during our whole trip. Huge kudos to the owners for their sustainable and practical attitude!

Of course, there are the many other boons to being there - the fabulous owners who cannot do enough for you, the huge rooms, tastefully decorated. They have just built two new rooms which give you more of a bush feel, still luxurious but very rustic. the most amazing food (shoutout to the homemade tomato jam and the best homemade chocolate brownies I have ever had!) , fabulous game drives and, best of all, the wildlife: Buffalo, giraffe, zebra, bushbuck, warthog, impala, all coming right up to the lodge. They are not tame as the lodge owners make a point of not feeding them, but you get the chance to see them close up but safely.
This place is a whole experience that I encourage everyone to have in their lifetime!

It's our second visit to South Africa and once again we’ve booked a stay at this amazing lodge. This time Vince and Toni provided us with the opportunity to experience one of the newly built rooms. We absolute loved the rustic stunning architecture, and the cozy furnishings that blended well to the bush surroundings.

The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, featuring large windows in the bathroom that offered breathtaking views of the bush. There is also a terrace complete with a braai where you can relax with coffee or snacks, all while enjoying perfect views for wildlife spotting. What we loved most was the outdoor shower. Can’t describe that feeling! With delicious food, gracious hosts and the presence of animals is definitely on our list for the next visit.

My wife and I brought the whole family on our honeymoon. From young to old, we all had a great time at Sunset: amazing wildlife, stunning landscapes, beautiful rooms, excellent food and local expertise provided by Vince, Toni and the team.

The lodge itself is beautiful, with stunning views of the Drakensberg mountain range. The rooms are all decorated immaculately, each with their own design. The kids loved the pool. There’s a well equipped gym for when you realise you over indulged at dinner the night before. And the high level viewing deck means you can see further into the bush to spot the wildlife.

Vince and Toni organised all our excursions, including big 5 safaris in the Kruger, quad biking wildlife trips, small aircraft sight seeing flights etc. But the personal touch provided by the team on walks around the lodge were the best, allowing you to get up close and personal with termites, zebras, impalas, trees, plants and even different animal dung!

Each night, amazing food was served, sitting on the patio, sometimes just a few yards away from warthogs, buffalo and nyalas. We had some lovely evenings watching the meat cook on the braai, with a glass of wine as the sunset.

The kids loved it and were kept entertained even when their attention span for nature started to wain (translation: the wifi always worked).

The older folks amongst us truly appreciated the different world you step into when you stay at Sunset. The beauty of the place is matched by the knowledge that the team provide and the support they provide in arranging all your trips.

Everything was great and the nice thing was that we didn't have to leave the grounds. First of all, the location was beautiful and fairly close to Kruger Park. In most game lodges you are shielded from nature by fences, but here the animals literally pass by in front of your porch (zebras, giraffes, buffalo, impalas and the ostrich).

In addition, the owners were fantastic, as were the rest of the staff. They were always friendly, cheerful and you could ask them anything! Vincent and Toni knew all about the animals, nature and culture of South Africa and surrounding countries.

The games drives on their own property were top notch! You could do various activities in consultation. From sunrise to sunset drives, but also bush walks and picnics.

Furthermore, the food was delicious and we could always indicate ourselves what time we wanted to have breakfast and dinner. Both breakfast and dinner were always very varied and adapted to your own wishes.

The pool was lovely for cooling off. There was even a gym. Moreover, everything was sustainable and self-sufficient (water and electricity).

Finally, our room was very spacious, had a nice view of the garden and was very clean! We felt at home here from the first moment!

We wouldn't go back to the same place so soon, but Sunset and her staff are definitely a place to return to in the future!

We had a family holiday at Sunset Lodge in October 23. From the moment we arrived at the lodge, where we were welcomed with traditional African singing, we knew we'd chosen the right place. The lodge is luxurious and spacious whilst retaining the spirit of real Africa. Vince and Toni are wonderful hosts, and arranged various trips and safaris for us whilst we were there. The pool is fantastic, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the food (cooked by the wonderful Beauty) is to die for.

You are right in the middle of nature. We saw giraffe, zebra, buffalo, warthogs - all from the comfort of the lodge. It really is quite surreal having breakfast with a family of giraffe stood only feet away! We also went on game drives, again organised by Vince, where we saw leopards, lions and rhinos. The Jubulani elephant sanctuary is also close by, and whilst it's an early start I advise you not to miss it. Really an incredible experience!

Nice atmos all round really. Already looking at dates for next year.

Very relaxing stay. I prefer to sit and relax but if I was so inclined there were plenty of activities available for booking.
Vincent and Toni are very knowledgeable about the surroundings and wildlife and are very accommodating. It is very unusual and pleasant to have the owners sit down and have their meals with you. The food is great and you are well looked after.
Will definitely visit again if I am in the area.

It is at least a one hour drive to the park gate(at 5a.m.) and then a 20-30 minute wait for administration and registration. At the end of day, another one hour + back to the lodge.
