In the heart of Great Kruger Conservancy lies a hidden gem. A bush lodge with a unique atmosphere and historical feel: Wild Dogs Safari Lodge. Your bush veld home-away-from-home. This old farm house, built in the 1940’s, has been converted into our main building consisting of communal lounge, dining room, bush bar, terrace, boma with open log fire, garden & swimming pool. All this is surrounded by brick cottages with thatched roofs to create that old Kruger-Park-feel. Giving you comfort and privacy during your stay. All cottages have mosquito netting, ceiling fans, coffee and tea station, free wifi, en-suite bathroom and a private terrace. We offer a wide range of wildlife and scenic activities. To mention a few: bush walks, (big-5) game drives in open vehicle, Kruger Park, Panoramic Tour, Ranger Day, night drives & junior ranger courses for the little ones. PS: looking for a perfect location for a group? You can rent the entire lodge. Self catering or catered for. Contact us.

The best trip we've ever had. Thank you for making it our best break-away ever. The giraffe came to drink water right next to the swimming pool. Accommodation is neat and luxurious. The people managing the lodge went out of their way to make it SO special for everyone. This is definitely a place worth going to.

A travel consultant booked this place for us, The room was perfect for a short stay in Lusaka. Close to the international airport. A staff person picked us up from the airport. Dinner was readily prepared for us. Very quiet and homey experience. I would definitely return.

Thank you so much for hosting us, even though it was just one night. We used Wild Dog to stay close to Orpen Gate into KNP. For us, it was perfect. We were warmly welcomed and all our needs were taken care of. Thanks so much for a bush evening to remember.

I stayed at Wild Dogs before heading into Kruger National Park and beyond. The owner host Nathalie was so welcoming and couldn't accommodate me more. The chalets are great, food amazing and relaxing in the lounge or pool area is a must. I love that the wildlife roams through, I woke one morning to Zebras grazing at my front door.

LOCATION

Within Guernesy private nature reserve, this lodge is a short drive (about 30 min) from Kruger (Orpen gate). The safari lodge plan is simple, easily accessible and safe. The accommodation was opposite the main area, which is especially convenient at night so one does not need to wander around in the dark. This makes the lodge favorable, easily accessible and attractive for the elderly and young families. There is a walking trail to a small dam nearby.

LOUNGE

The lounge area connects to the dining room and outside bar with comfortable sofas, a mini-library of wonderful and interesting books, and a fireplace with african ornament décor and styling. The thatched roofing provided a cool shade area and indoor and outdoor seating.

POOL

Kids enjoyed the pool and the recliners are a great place to read and relax. There is also a cocoon swing to rock away the stress and strain.

SERVICE

Natalie and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Hostess has Dutch origins, and the team makes guests feel right at home. They provide everything a safari lodge should have; a kraal, pool, safari activities, other activities, trails, catering, animals (both domesticated and not), thorough guidebook of local reptiles, birdlife, mammals, flora (grass) and fauna and guestbook.

Hostess and hostess dog also has friendly neighbors (both human and non-human) who may visit the premises. The cute dog would nudge visitors to play fetch ball, and he was very excited and enthusiastic to welcome our team.

The only suggestion would be to have a separate smoking area situated more distant from the lounge, so guests do not inhale smoke.

FOOD

3 course meal of soup, bobotie (mince) and a delicious, delightful dessert was served. We dined with another couple at the main table, but thought it would have been even better if the hostess had joined us.

ROOMS

Family room was spacious, clean and cozy. Adored the fireplace, which may come in handy in winter. The design is tasteful with ceiling fan and some artwork on the wall. The fridge is home-sized. Usual insects inhabiting the area roam freely, therefore it is preferable to close the door.

ROAD

We felt it was better to have a 4x4 for the last leg of the journey to the lodge, as the gravel roads had the signature up and down incline features to combat rainwater. After entry to the reserve, we noted buffaloes up, close and personal on the side road. On exiting the next day, we noted a gigantic snail (almost the size of my kids shoes) on the road.

SUMMARY

Great safari lodge for families, friends and couples! GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY!

We had 5 days in Wild Dogs safari Lodge, and it was a great experience! Our chalet was original and comfortable, the food was very good and the service was perfect. We were warmly welcomed by Nathalie, the manager of the lodge, and we had really great moments observing the giraffes and zebras close to the swimming pool!Nathalie organized for us safaris in reserves around (including Kruger), "night drives" and "bush walks", for each day. We ate in the evening outside, in the "Burma" around a fire.A perfect stay in a perfect place!

Natalie is such a loving person and makes you feel at home! She is respecting every type of personality so it's not a must to sit by the bar with her until late in the night but I would recommend it. Besides her as the host the lodge is very much in the bush, where the zebra's and giraffes are coming to your doorstep to say hallo or coming to hang out together by the pool. All safaris that we did where awesome and very different. Overall one of the best experiences here in South Africa!

Enjoyed every moment staying at this lodge. The bush walks, the friendly owner, staff and the African Bushveld atmosphere calms tour spirit. Loved the African Cultural feel you experiencing when sitting down for dinner. I will go there over and over again.

Wild Dogs Safari Lodge is a very convenient stop-over if you want to visit Kruger or explore the many other attractions in the area.
It will also be a wonderful battery charging station.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and looked after all our needs from the moment we entered the gates of the reserve until we reluctantly drove away.

All facilities are neat and clean.

Very good value for money destination.
