Rancho Chilamate Guest Ranch offers an experience like none other in Nicaragua. This solar-powered Colonial-style hacienda is just 20 minutes from town but a world away and is home to the infamous horseback adventure company of the same name. Guests are invited to join in family style ranch meals, wildlife viewing (Howler Monkeys live here), horseback riding, star gazing, day trips to the nearby beaches and life off-the-grid. All rooms have large private ensuites and free wireless internet. Two rooms have private gardens and patios. There is plenty of lounging areas in and around the hacienda and pool. There should be a couple of things noted about Rancho Chilamate: - there is a one night minimum stay and a 3 night maximum stay. - due to solar power restrictions we do not have air conditioning in our rooms - however we have fans and there is a delightful breeze the comes down the valley and through the rooms. - Rancho Chilamate's room rate includes breakfast and dinner including wine and beer poolside - Rooms are subject to goverment tax - Horseback riding is not included in room rates and is based on availability, so guests should consider booking their tour before arrival.

We are always impressed with the service we find at Rancho Chilamate, which is just 20 minutes from San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The rooms were outstanding. Everything was immaculate, welcoming the two of us to a relaxing two days of rest. The "cowboy" meals were the food presented. Everything from grill steaks, grilled chicken, and salads galore. The fresh vegetables set off an outstanding service. The hospitality was a style we loved. We share our story with you below show the detail Rancho Chilamate goes to making their guests welcomed and feel at home. Sandra and I have just returned from these two beautiful days at Rancho Chiilamate. It was the beginning of the week before Valentine's day when we decided to get away for some relaxing time together. No computers, no phones, and no other disturbances from a busy time at our home in San Juan del Sur. It was time to spend rejuvenating our loving relationship. What place, but our everloving retreat at Rancho Chilamante for those 2 beautiful days in their Romantica suite with a private patio. Now, what do I do to make this an everlasting remembrance after 49 years of Valintine's day celebration? I had to remember we were on our way to 50 years of marriage in April 2020. We had always loved staying in the suite and looked forward to our return. Wouldn't it be nice to have a chilled bottle of wine with two glasses, flowers, and a special note for Sandra? What about a heart made from towels dressed with flowers? The staff at Rancho Chilamate were gracious in helping with the surprise. We arrived at the Rancho in time for an outstanding lunch and then checked into our suite. Of course, I went directly to the private patio to check that all arrangments are as perfect as expected. Calling Sandra to come to look at how nice the patio had changed started the surprise. When she arrived, the first thing she saw was the table with the setup. The note I left and the arrangement of the table brought tears to her eyes. The hug she gave told me it was a success. There was even more, a day at the pool just outside our suite and cozy spaces to retreat for privacy. Without the help of the Rancho Chilamate staff, we could have never pulled this off. Before dinner, we were treated to sunset at the beach, and was it spectacular. Then back to the Rancho for dinner set for a king and queen. It was time now to relax and enjoy. The next day, we arose to a nourishing breakfast, followed by a gorgeous day of relaxing, reading, and talking. How could we ever be top the sunset? That evening we joined the other guests and had a night of entertainment at a little pub in the small town just down the road. A wonderful evening was listening to the show topped by another great dinner at the Rancho around a candlelit table. Now the end of the day and time to enjoy our private patio. Hard to think we would be leaving the very next morning.

I have stayed at Rancho Chilamate about twice a year since I discovered it about 5 years ago. Hands down a favorite of mine and I travel the world. You are greeted upon arrival like family and leave /do I have to?/knowing you are family. Whatever you want they will find, massage, yoga, surf lesson, you name it. This time I was with friends 1 day and solo 1 day. So much fun! And the Ranch dinners can't be beat. Looking forward to my next stay. Thanks Blue and crew, as always ❤

I absolutely love every moment at Rancho Chilamate. I travelled 2 days from Bangkok, Thailand and it’s worth every minute! The pick up from the airport by Irma was great. She is a great driver from and back to the airport. Ethan, Kirk and Geogie took great care of me on everything and made me feel very welcome. They also took great photos just like what they posted here and on their other media. I would say that I arrived as a stranger and left as a good friend! I met Blue the next morning and she made me feel like a family the first time I met her. I feel very fortunate to be there and be prt of everything. It is that feeling when you feel like being at home, clam, fun and relaxing. She always offered rum, wine or beer which I could not resist :) The horse riding on the beach is the best of my experience so far. I would go back any day! Thanks to Claudia who is the big boss of the stable. She takes very good care of the horses and I can feel so much caring for them. The horses are calm and happy at the stable. I rode Poncho on the first day and Apache for the other 3 days. Love them both especially Apache! Lastly, I would highly recommend Rancho Chilamate! Absolutely love everything there, the people, the horses, accommodation, food, drinks, transportation, etc. Thank you for having me and I wish to go back again soon!

This place was so wonderful! We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. The people of the ranch are extremely helpful. They can come and get you in San Juan when you arrive so you don’t have to figure out how to get there. The ranch is really beautiful and verry safe (it’s guarded for 24 hours a day). The rooms are big, nicely decorated and equiped with everything you need (airco, shower, toilet, ventilator, large bed). We even had our own little garden with hammock. There is a pool and chairs besides it where you can lay down at night and look at the stars. The concept of all eating together in the evening is really nice to get to know the people of the ranch. The cook is really good and makes sure there is a lot of food on the table. They will make you breakfast and lunch. During the day you can help yourself by taking drinks and snacks out of the fridge. We went for the horse ride on the beach. That was so nice! The horses are really sweet, healthy and calm. You don’t have to be affraid, while there are two people of the ranch comming with you and will help you with everything. The stay at this ranch is expensive but it was definetly worth it! It is a hidden paradise, a must see in San Juan del Sur.
