Although we didn't stay here, we came here three times. Once was for the fish filets and twice for the lobster dinners. All were excellent meals, but one was more excellent than the other! We tried the lobster in a lemon sauce and a wine sauce. The lemon sauce was the hands down winner. The meal was so wonderful, that I asked the waiter for the recipe. The cook and owner came back and had me guess the ingredients. I couldn't guess any of them. Then she told us the secret ingredient and then brought a sample to our table to taste! Our only regret was that we didn't discover the Villa Mar restaurant earlier!
A friend and myself came here for a little getaway while visiting her in Nicaragua. The location is fabulous, just a short walk to a beautiful beach. The rooms are quaint and comfortable, not that we spent much time in there. I absolutely loved their big deck, so relaxing to sip coffee and watch the sun come up on the morning. I highly recommend this place.
I came here the first time to escape the noise of the city and was not disappointed. The place is peaceful and the restaurant serves some of the best food I had in Nicaragua. The beach is a minute's walk. San Juan Del Sur is a 20-minute taxi ride away.
For the most part, this was a sweet place to stay. I would definitely recommend it if you are care-free and showering matters little to you. The porch and dining area were beautiful. Filled with tables, rocking chairs and hammocks and a view of the beach. It felt like paradise and the PERFECT place to put my feet up at the end of the day. The food was good and the staff was kind and welcoming. However, it was not an ideal stay for our family. We were a family of four and they put four beds into a room that could barely fit two. No dresser or place for belongings and that was difficult. We had a room with A/C that worked fine (although it was loud) and the bathroom had no screen on the window so you needed to keep the door closed and at night it was filled with bugs. The hardest part was that the shower was not much more than a dribble of water, which we were assured was normal (that was difficult after full days at the beach). We voiced our concerns about the room and the shower and they were willing to switch our room the following night, which was very nice, but at that point, we had already decided to change hotels so we could get in a decent shower. I guess the bottom line is it's beautiful Nicaragua and if its a decent place to stay. Just not ideal for my family.…
My friend and I stayed here for a week. It is clean and the staff are personable and helpful. The food was good. In retrospect we now would stay at one of the beaches farther north. The facility was quite nice. We have no complaints.
