About

#1 of 4 hotels in Isletas de Granada
Isleta El Espino offers a respite from the dusty road and, with only five guest rooms, the quiet serenity of a private island. Birds, monkeys, breezes (and a neighbor's rooster at times) are the soundtrack of El Espino. The lodge features a swimming pool, yoga platform, massage facilities, intimate bar, and dining. El Espino is just minutes away from the historic city of Granada and an array of activities including hiking, boating, horseback riding, dining, shopping, and exploration. El Espino is off-grid with power courtesy of the sun.

Had the entire Isleta for 4 days and did not want to leave. All the staff was friendly and professional. A special thank you to Pablo, Leslie and Henry for making our staying great. If you want to relax and just enjoy your family’s company Isleta el Espino is a must. Food was well prepared, can’t complain at all. My only gripe would be that we didn’t stay longer and that’s my fault. Thank you again

This place is amazing. I wouldn't use it as a "base" to explore Granada, but the other way around - a 2-night escape from the city, and it's perfect for it. Everything is incredibly tasteful, the view is lovely, the food is expertly prepared by a talented woman named Ana. I also had a massage with Claudia and loved every second of it. I can't wait to come back.

We stayed in the two bungalows along the edge of the island. They were so private and quaint. The staff was friendly and helpful while still leaving us to ourselves. It was great for relaxing. I kept eating mangoes as they fell from the trees - true paradise! The food was wonderful at every meal. The last night they moved our table under the large palapa for enjoying the sunset and the view of the volcano. One day we took their ferry back to Granada for shopping and lunch and that went well. We also took some kayak trips - I would recommend a sunrise kayak.

AMAZING OASIS — this is the PERFECT place to getaway and relax in the “new normal”; the staff are deeply respectful of COVID protocol and safety measures. The island is completely private, so you don’t have to worry about crowds. The views, food, rooms and activities are all SPECTACULAR, and the team there arranges everything for you...so you can completely unplug. (But don’t worry if you can’t technically “unplug” because their wifi is stellar and strong!) Close enough to Masaya, Granada and Apoyo to do day trips, but also beautiful and relaxing enough that you may not want or need to leave the little island. We kayaked and had a massage (ask for Claudia — best massage I’ve ever had...and I’ve gone to 5-star resorts all over the world and MANY spas. She came to the island and gave the massage in an open-air tented, private areas among the trees) and swam and swayed in hammocks. Love their house-made chocolate — which they serve w/ olive oil and sea salt — and their breakfast included a huevos rancheros with house-made tortillas that were amazing. They also give you a fresh squeezed juice, which changes daily. One of the best parts of the property and menu is that a lot of the ingredients they are cooking with are grown on the island: beautiful chickens roam among the herb and vegetable gardens, and fallen mangoes line the pathways to the rooms. (We ate about 15 “ground mangoes” in our 2 day stay.) A true gem and one of the best stays I have ever had in a hotel. GO!!!

I booked this retreat for 1 night and was amazed by the beauty of it. So peaceful, friendly staff, nice swimming pool. The food is also very good! You can ask the staff anything you want, they don't give you the feeling that you have to do all the activities they offer. They respect your privacy.
