As I was checking out, I asked housekeeping whether I can leave the luggage in front of the room instead of taking it down to the lobby, a common arrangement on the Camino. I had difficulty communicating so another guest who spoke Spanish confirmed on my behalf that I could leave it upstairs. When I got to the next town, my luggage hadn't arrived and when I contacted the previous night's lodging, the lady owner was not only rude but was completely uncooperative in my attempt to retrieve the luggage. She even refused to provide contact information for the location where I stayed as my donkey service had no way of knowing that my luggage would be there. I had to practically beg the reception at the hotel for assistance. When I finally contacted the location where I stayed, I was told that it was my fault for not taking the luggage downstairs, a complete LIE. What would have happened to my Camino schedule if I was not able to retrieve my luggage? How can such dishonest and hurtful people run a business for the pilgrim's on the Camino?…
Only a 100 yards from the centre up a flight of steps. Check-in wasn't until 14.00, having arrived at 13.58 it was locked. However it opened on time, A very large room, double bed, 2 single beds and a sofa. Old uneven wood floor confirming the age of this old property. I ate in the centre where there was lots of choice of restaurants. Because I was leaving early as I thought I had a difficult day ahead of me the owner left me some food outside my door for breakfast. A nice touch as I had left early in other locations but non had offered a packed breakfast.
Stayed here for one night (2 rooms) with my family. Loved the feel of this place and the energy. Very peaceful. The gentlemen who greeted us in the evening was very helpful and kind. The woman who checked us out in the AM and served us coffee, could have used a few lessons in "friendliness". Hence the 4 rating and not a 5. Would definitely return.
I happened to find myself here while walking the camino de Santiago and felt more than welcome! Margherita was the name of the Italian girls who helped us. She was sooooo nice! I'll visit again next time!!!
This hotel has two properties, the old-style casa on Calle Real, with only 4 bedrooms, which is where I stayed, and the modern hotel at the bottom end of the town. The old-style casa has traditional decor, is close to everything, and the atmosphere, the service and the food were wonderful. We also had free access to the outdoor swimming-pool and other facilities of the modern hotel about 10 min walk away. The breakfast was the best I had along this stretch of the camino.
