Dhawa Ihuru ticks all the boxes for an on the beach holiday!
If you want privacy, you have it, cosy villas right on the gorgeous sandy beach.
If you want company, you have it, friendly island style community.
If you want great snorkelling, you have it, and you have a choice of Dhawa Ihuru's reef or a complimentary 5 min boat ride to sister island Banyan Tree reef. Highly recommend booking at least one snorkelling session with Vijam to introduce you to Dhawa Ihuru's reef.
If you want varied cuisine and delicious food, you have it.
Henry, from sister island Banyan tree, does complimentary short reef sustainabilty snorkel sessions where you can help count the sealife fauna, or remove unwanted debris or undesirable starfish etc.. My sister had only been snorkelling a few times over the past years and she thoroughly enjoyed this. We highly commend Banyan Tree for this endeavor! And Henry is a great source of information for all things marine.
But Dhawa Ihuru is fantastic because of it's great service and staff. 🤗
They also have a great Spa experience to massage away all your stress, and a gym if you really want to use up every minute..

We were on Ihuru for 11 nights from May 6th, 2024, very very nice!!! Landed at 9:30 a.m. and 2 hours later were already in our bungalow 42
We would like to extend our special thanks to our Suji, who pierced our hearts from the first to the last day. She was always there for us and made this vacation a thousand times more beautiful.
We would also like to thank all the Ihuru employees. You are all very nice, always helpful, you constantly look after your island and always had an open ear for us. A big thank you to the marine center for the free fins.
It started early in the morning when our beach area was cleaned, followed by a wonderful breakfast with freshly squeezed juices, great cappuccino and delicious omelettes. During this time our room boy Falil cleaned the bungalow really well........thank you very much Falil!!!
Then we went into the sea to snorkel for hours. The reef looks very good, new corals are growing everywhere and the underwater world leaves nothing to be desired.
After that, a delicious lunch with really great salads and delicious freshly grilled fish. Many thanks to the whole kitchen team for the great, fresh and tasty food.
In the evening, a few sundowners from the bar and enjoy the beautiful sunset. Thank you Nishanth, Das and Rohit for your smile and for the cocktails.
In the meantime, our Falil came again and swept the bungalow again.... Great!!!
In the evening there was either a buffet or a menu and everything tasted very, very good. Again, a big thank you to all the chefs, grillers and all the waiters.
We were able to enjoy the Maldivian evening twice with the drumming group, which was simply fantastic.
Even requests that we communicated to reception late at night (10 p.m.) were implemented immediately. Many thanks to everyone who was at reception during our time and always had an open ear for us.
The shop on Ihuru is also great. The prices are really OK and what is conjured up and designed here cannot be found on any other Maldivian island. Thank you for fulfilling our wishes and the fair prices!!
Unfortunately I had to remove a "visiting snorkeler" from the sea because he was not able to swim and was walking on the coral reef without fins. I saw how the new corals were breaking under him. Sorry, but this is not acceptable. I would have liked more attention from the Marine Center here.
We also think that the two jet skis are superfluous in such a paradise.
The weather was OK, rain now and then, but that is normal at this time of year. Nevertheless, it is always warm and without rain there would be no plants or palm trees.
So we had a very, very nice holiday on Ihuru and will definitely come back.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Dhawa Ihuru ticks all our checklists for: 1) Comfort - mattress is of a semi hard (not the type of resort bed where the bed sinks in when you lie on the bed) 2) Prompt housekeeping - the room was cleaned almost 2 times a day due to the sand that gets into the room each time we stepped out either for breakfast, lunch or snorkel. We did not have to call for housekeeping to clean up the room. 3) Well thought out activities for young children and adults - we could leave our 2 children in the kids club while I scuba dived and my husband went to the gym. 4) Great service - the staff were knowledgeable in most of our queries and without fail tried their best to help us in our requests. 5) Warmth and Friendly environment - every staff you meet from the housekeeping, technicians and porter will greet you. 6) Glass bottled cleaned drinking water supplied everyday in the room - I had initially planned to bring a few bottled mineral water for my young daughter who requires formula milk but there is really no need for it. 7) Beautiful view with corals and reefs just few steps away from the shore. 8) Good breakfast and dinner, however for more variety I would suggest to travel to the other Banyan tree island for a la carte lunch as this resort only has 1 restaurant option.

I would start by saying that the island is naturally beautiful. In addition to the blue sea and white sand, the coral reef is close to the shore and therefore very convenient, and is rich in many varieties of tropical fish (even turtles), therefore a paradise for snorkelling. It's like swimming in an aquarium! The resort is very well looked after and the staff are always very kind. From those who do maintenance (every morning leaves are collected from the sand and the room is tidied up twice a day, Majid was our permanent employee for cleaning our villa and he was really diligent), those who serve drinks and meals (in Sujina in particular was lovely and speaks a little Italian), everyone is very friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. The structure is not brand new but it is beautiful, a small restyling has been done compared to some photos I had seen, now it is more colourful, the style is a little more family-style than luxury, especially the rooms. The rooms are really large and the beds are comfortable, externally equipped with personal rocking loungers and sofas. We had seaside villa no. 18 with hydromassage, so our outdoor bathroom was large, like a zen garden, very nice. The villa is really comfortable. The only flaw to point out is for Italians who don't speak English, because the films are only in English and this is a disservice in a 4 star hotel. For the rest we didn't have any particular difficulties. We chose the all-inclusive formula, therefore the restaurant and bar are included in the price, while extra activities are subject to charges. There is a free shuttle every hour and a half to the nearby island, which offers an incredible Japanese bar/restaurant structure, fantastic for an aperitif by the sea or for a change of scenery. The food was to our liking, there is variety at the buffet, but mainly Maldivian/Indian style. There is always an area for eggs/waffles etc at breakfast and which becomes a grill area for dinner. Some evenings you can only order à la carte, starter, soup, main course and dessert. Some evenings there is entertainment. The spa is a very pleasant Thai massage centre, I had a good time with Meli. There is a gym but we didn't try it. April has reserved us a few days of bad weather, so keep an eye on the weather if you want to travel during this period. Land animals: On the island you can meet some adorable, very talkative moorhens that wander around the beach, we always gave some bread to our one who we called Jerry and who we later discovered had chicks 😍. You will also be able to see parrots and a gray heron which is a regular guest.
The experience was very positive, I would recommend this facility to everyone.

To put our experience into words is difficult as I am not sure I can do justice to just how amazing everyone at this resort is and how welcomed we felt.
Our room was lovely with Aircon and well stocked minibar, leading on to a lovely private beach, both of which were kept incredibly tidy with multiple cleanings a day. The jacuzzi was also lovely.
The surrounding coral reef was absolutely beautiful and the snorkeling equipment included in the room price was amazing and we had so much fun exploring under the water.
The food was amazing for all 3 meals each day, including the destination dining we had during sunset at our private bit of beach, would definitely recommend doing that extra if you have the chance.
Apart from the amazing views and ambiance, what really made this resort was the staff. Everyone was super friendly and each of them made sure our stay was the best it could be often going above and beyond expectations.
If you have the chance to stay here you will not regret it!

I could use so many superlatives that this review would seem unbelievable but Dhawa Ihuru is a great location for a relaxing break.
Set just 20 minutes from the airport by speedboat this island is not troubled by low flying seaplanes. Arriving at Dhawa we were met and directed to the reception area, which is also the bar area.
A cold towel and a refreshing drink was supplied whilst we completed the usual check in process. Everything was relaxed, no rush or fuss and that set the tone for the next 2 weeks.
We were escorted to our room , 15 on the eastern side, and was given a detailed walk through. The room comes with all the usual amenities, safe, television, tea and coffee facilities, fridge etc. At the rear of the room there are the French doors that open out onto a patio and then into your garden where there your loungers, a swing and a large circular chair. The only request that was made of us was to put the cushions away in the rack when we had finished lazing about for the day!
So back out of the room you find there is only one restaurant the Riveli . Here there is both seating inside and out on the deck. You get a mixture of buffet during breakfast and lunch but occasionally there was an á la carte menu in the evening . The food was beautiful, full of flavour and the desserts were simply sublime.
Across from the restaurant is the bar with a reasonable selection of cocktails, alcoholic beverages and coffee. Again plenty of seating inside and outside on the deck. Evening entertainment was fairly light but the highlight was the cultural event where the staff put heart and soul into their performance and should not be missed.
So for the fitness fans there is a well equipped gym, weights, bikes ,treadmills etc on the 1st floor giving a great view over the ocean.
The reef is pretty good and you can have a guided snorkel trip and there is a diving centre for the more adventurous.
But our holiday was made more special by a great team and special thanks should go to
Wong and Julia in the reception Hameed who kept our room sand free and topped up
Hannan in the bar
Luisha, Naalf,Sunil, Aistha, Naalf, Afagg, Maaniu, Shareef and Salmaan all from F&B
Chief and Sameed ( memory fails me)
A great team and a great island which we will be back.

The island is within sight of Malé and can be reached by speedboat from the airport in just under half an hour. Despite this proximity, we did not notice any disruption. The island can be walked around the beach in 10 minutes and "snorkeled" along the edge of the house reef in about 1 hour. The house reef is rich in species; we saw turtles, moray eels, lionfish and sharks, as well as impressive schools of fish. We can highly recommend the diving center. The equipment we rented was in good condition. Everything was taken care of before and after the dives. The room in the bungalow was spacious and very clean. Cleaning was done several times a day and fresh towels were brought when needed. There could be a few more hangers in the closet. In the private area of the veranda leading to the beach, there were deck chairs and a day bed available; the dense vegetation provided enough shade and ensured sufficient distance from the neighbors. The restaurant served a buffet for breakfast and lunch, and in the evenings there was a menu and buffet. The food was very good and special requests were happily accommodated - at check-in, we were asked not only about allergies and intolerances, but also about taste aversions. At the buffet, it might be worth not only putting food that needs to be cooled on a cooling plate, but also covering it. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.
Overall, we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay very much! We can highly recommend the resort!

Everything was perfect for us: The island has an excellent reef for snorkelling and the underwater world is impressive. In addition to many colourful fish, there are turtles and blacktip reef sharks to be seen. Although there are many huts in a confined space, you don't feel cramped or crowded. There are no water-bungalows and no swimming pool, more the pure way. The atmosphere is not too formal, the crowd during our stay in November was a mix of older couples and families with young children, internationally mixed. The cabins are very spacious and very clean. The outdoor bathroom is a great feature, not musty, not cold, very intimate. The service is consistently good, the staff very friendly and attentive. There was a very large selection of food and drinks, good flavour.
Only the prices for additional services and diving/snorkling trips are extremely high.

We spent 10 days on this pristine, beautiful little barefoot island.
We arrived by speedboat from Male within half an hour of arriving by plane.
Julia was very nice to us.
We were able to move into our villa straight away.
Ihuru is a pristine island with dense vegetation that has retained its typical Maldivian charm.
Like many other islands, the island suffers from beach erosion.
But the island can't do anything about it.
Unfortunately, the entire island has now been secured with sandbags to prevent the loss of even more beach.
The villas are all very comfortably furnished and are right on the beach.
The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was quiet.
The garden is great, with enough privacy, 2 loungers, a relaxation shell and a sun swing.
The loungers were beautifully prepared by the gardener every day and the whole garden was swept.
Unfortunately, the furnishings in the villas, especially the bathroom, are very old.
12 villas have now been renovated, and the rest will follow shortly, according to the General Manager.
Our room boy was very creative. We have never had such a beautiful bed decoration on an island before. Thank you Majid. The entire team on Ihuru is very warm and tries to ensure that guests have a relaxing stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful and courteous and above all tried to fulfill every wish of the guest.
A big thank you goes to the service in the restaurant, gardener, staff manager, room boy, GM, girls at reception and everyone else!! The highlight of Ihuru is certainly the great house reef, which is very easy to reach and easy to explore even for less experienced snorkelers. Very rich in fish and without strong currents. The neighboring island of Banyan Tree can be visited daily by speedboat transfer. There you can use the daybeds for free, as well as the great infinity pool. Towels are also available free of charge. Drinks cost extra, as does dinner ($20 per person). Highly recommended. Thank you for the wonderful time on the island.

I almost don't know where to start! From the moment we arrived the attentive staff could not do enough. Everybody smiling and doing their best to ensure our stay was magical. And it was! The island is relatively small with no water bungalows but our beach bungalow was superbly located just a few feet from the crystal clear water and was cleaned regularly without us noticing. It was spotless and had everything we wanted. Food at the resort is first class and fresh ! Special mention to Pawan on the morning egg station who could present whatever way you wanted your eggs done with ease. The fruit station at breakfast was extensive and expertly dispatched by Sunil. Our evening cocktails were prepared and served with a smile from the lovely Hanan and Nishanth and meals served by Sujina our wonderful waitress. All the staff at Dhaka Ihuru are exceptional and made our experience one to remember. It is worth noting this is an intimate setting with only one restaurant and one bar with a sandy floor, however, the sister island is supported by a boat taxi every two hours if you wish to vary your surroundings. We totally loved our stay and can highly recommend the resort.
