could someone tell me how the beach is in front of the Playa Blanca hotel (currently known as Bella Isla Resort) WE been there a few times and love the beach, there not a lot do , but the area is amazing Thanks
Beautiful part of the island. The beach at the hotel could have been better if it wasn't so eroded. Neighboring beaches which were accessible by trolley were stunning. Iberostar Playa Blanca provided transportation between the hotel and other beaches. You can also visit a turtle hatchery and some shops by the marina. You can also book other excursions in the little town. Definitely would return.
This hotel is not have its own private beach or has access direct to beach . There is a small beach nearby . 5 start not sure on service as found it services slow and most waiters or staff does not speak English. We opted for half board but only benefit was drinks are free at the pool bar until 6.30 pm . veg food was a limited choice. Ended up paying for drinks and even water at dinner. Rooms are ok showers good . Prestige upgrade is not worth the money as the most food we ate was at the buffet Restaurent .
We returned to Playa Blanca for a second visit in April 2018. We stayed in the villas of Belleareana section of the resort this time and the small additional costs to upgrade were more than worth it. The room had a king size bed which was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked great. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower with 2 heads with lots of hot water. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied. When you stay at in the villas you have access to our own restaurant which while we there featured an italian chef who prepared some wonderful dishes, the meals were great with no complaints at all. For the first few days the beach in front of the resort was available -lots of chairs available. Half way through the week the winds changed and the surf didn't allow hanging out on the beach, however the beaches on the other side of the small island where calm. You can get there by a number of means, the free shuttle which involves a short boat ride, taxi or you can rent a 4 wheeler. Very worth while to go over to the other beaches- they have lunches/beer available. The service from all the staff was great, they couldn't do enough for us We had a great week and hope to return…
For those of you who are female and traveling solo to Cayo Largo, specifically Iberostar Playa Blanca, be careful as I was assaulted at this resort. There is a private bar and restaurant on the outskirts of the resort, on the way to the beach, where a bartender there took special notice of me. After the fact, I realized that he marked me as a solo traveler and ensured that I had plenty of drinks that he made "special" for me (his words). That evening ended in non-consensual, unprotected sex, with this bartender, that I made very clear verbally and behaviourally that I did not want to have. Please be careful when you visit this resort. Make friends and ensure that you go to and leave events together. Better yet, choose an alternative destination.
