A beautiful place in a beautiful town. It's the type of accommodation that makes you feel that relaxed Clarens warmth and vibe. Nobody and nothing is perfect so if your looking for perfection then Clarens is not for you. I'm upper house much like Clarens as a whole, it's about feel.

Fabulous room, spacious. I expected to have a full view of the mountains but not so much. I had to go out of my room to see the view. Overall i enjoyed my stay. I wish they could ask me what i want for breakfast or at least tell you, on the second day, they gave me omelette which i am not a fan of..and the parking is a bit low, my car struggled to come up, was a bit scary for me since I was alone. But the host is lovely.

It was a very nice stay in this guest house. The rooms and the bathrooms were very nice and the breakfast was lovely. Coffee, tea, cookies and sherry were available next to a small fridge. Very satisfied and highly recommended. Andreas Hülsmann

Very glad it’s over - staff assumed we couldn’t understand their language - big mistake. Best part of the getaway was leaving to come home. We were also served bacon in everything even though we were asked our dietary requirements. Aside from that, we had no water or electricity from 10pm Sunday night for a continual 16 hours. Even for africa, that’s a long time with no alternative for drinking, washing and flushing.

Excellent accommodation in Clarens. Stayed unfortunately for 1 night only due to other bookings. Friendly welcomed by Jess. Close vicinity of town square (Walking distance). Sleep quality of bed excellent with extra luxury of electric blanket. Safe Parking on site. Will use accommodation again in the future when visiting Clarens.

Our reservation at Upper House was met with a friendly hostess. She showed us the different rooms and we knew right away that we could spend the night here. Beautiful decor, a warm welcome and they definitely go the extra mile. The breakfast the next morning in the room was beyond our expectations. My stay at Upper Guest House was way too short (only 2 days), but it was thoroughly enjoyable. The proprietor, Natalie Dell, is very friendly and efficient. I received information about booking in and out, stuff to do in Clarens and the load shedding schedule before my arrival and booking in went seamlessly. She showed me around in the room and explained how the fireplace works. The room is lovely, spacious and extremely clean. Extras in the room included sherry and rusks. Complimentary toiletries in the bathroom smelled divine. The guest house is within walking distance of Clarens square. The rooms had windows on 2 sides and both had mountain views. The area is very peaceful and quit. Breakfast was served in the room. It was delicious and the menu varied both days. Portions were large and more than enough. This is on my return list for future visits to Clarens.…

Upper house is so close to the city center, all the shops are few steps away. I was up and down with my toddler, pushing her with a stroller. I stayed in the church annex, the view from the room is breath taking. Natalie and her team are awesome hosts, from the minute I arrived until I left. I highly recommend upper house. it was home away from home, but had the luxury look and feel.
