We had a fantastic stay at Il Castello. Staff was attentive and service was great. Breakfast was also good. Room was very massive and clean! It was views for daaaaays from our balcony. Even though hotel is in Clarens Town, because it is high up on the hill, it is quiet at the hotel and views are just fabulous from there. I highly recommend that you book the Mona Lisa room. In addition to the patio in the room, there’s another massive rooftop patio which has the most amazing views! The room looks better than the photos!! :)

5 star experience! Me and my partner received such a warm welcome from the staff upon arrival and the friendliness and hospitality continued throughout our stay. Would not even consider another hotel in Clarens again! 100% recommend

Beautiful place with gorgeous views all round. The staff super friendly and accommodating. My family and I will be back. A wide variety of options for breakfast, especially for the non meat, non egg eaters like myself.

There is absolutely nothing not to like about this boutique hotel. Beautiful decorated rooms. Fireplace in some of the rooms. Strong wifi. Strong water pressure. With all the power breaks one our weekend away. What a pleasure. They have a very large generator. Breakfast was served outside on the verandah and delicious as always. One huge plus point is the shuttle. We went for a morning hike one way for 2 hours and phoned the shuttle to come and pick us up. Same with visiting restaurants at night. So convenient. Staff are well trained and very friendly. Just a note of advice. If you order room service, staff must collect after an hour. Ours were left until the next day and rooms with patios. Please sweep each day. This boutique hotel is highly recommended. Lush linen and towels and extremely comfortable large beds.

The staff members were extremely helpful and very kind, they helped me with a lot of special requests as this was a birthday trip. The venue was absolutely beautiful, with clean and beautiful rooms. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

Very helpful staff, I left my jewelry behind and they notified me, was so helpful to even bring it to Pretoria. A gem in Clarins. The view is stunning and the building is beautiful, very romantic and very tasteful food.

Wow - what a fabulous location and what an imposing building!!!!!! Il Castello would not look out of place in the Italian mountains - which is what its original owner wanted to create - and it is full of the most charming public areas inside and out. Arriving on a Friday afternoon, we were warmly greeted by the delightful Mamefane who epitomised courtesy, professionalism and engagement. Nothing was too much trouble for her ;-) Dinner in the restaurant provided an excellent combination of flavours - especially the Fillet steak - and was complemented by a good wine list. Breakfast on the Fountain Terrace was delight and we loved the informality of service provided by Jeff and his colleagues (apologies, but I have forgotten their names!!!!). Il Castello provided a peaceful haven with fun service provided by a very hardworking team. I have mentioned the excellence of Mamefane and Jeff but allow me to thank Fane and KB for all their hard work and engagement. Any of you who travel regularly will appreciate just how important excellent and personable staff are and those at Il Castello are 1st rate. Il Castello is a fabulous property - not without a few tiny faults - which I would happily revisit when next in the Free State. Thanks to Mariette Hancock (Manager) for her professionalism and engagement with apologies for not having said goodbye when we left ;-)

The resort is really nice, the rooms are very clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and snack platters are great! If I had any gripe it would have been that the dinners didn’t live up to my expectations set by the rest of the services!

Thank you very much to a wonderful Team, yes - Team Castello. We had a wonderful Easter weekend at your premises. All of us (my husband, myself and our 3 kids) enjoyed every moment of our stay at your establishment. Thank you for your warm welcome, we were treated like royalties. Our rooms were always clean and tidy. Keep up the good work. A free shuttle services was a cherry on top and the gentleman (Mr. Miya) was always on time transporting us around Clarens. We took countless family pictures in your well maintained garden with breathtaking mountain views and those will be memories to cherish for the longest time. We also enjoyed freshly prepared breakfast and dinner. Expect to see this family of 5 in the future. Stay well Team Castello. Rakgadi Moses and family from Bloemfontein.
