Clarens is the "Jewel of the Free State" and "art capital" of South Africa, and the stylish, understated elegance of the Ash River Lodge B&B; represented by Mike Botha. We offer;
7 x En-suite Bedrooms with Queen Beds
3 x En-suite Bedrooms with King Beds (or 2 single beds by arrangement)
1 x Honeymoon suite with king bed, kitchenette, full DSTV & sitting room.
All rooms are en-suite, have private entrances & are equipped with coffee & tea and other facilities. There are servers & additional seating in the room as well as outside seating to soak up the Clarens environment. We pride ourselves on unpretentious, comfortable and affordable accommodation. We have resisted a star rating, believing that word of mouth is a far better reference.
You are welcome to relax on the sprawling 100sqm deck with magnificent mountain views & a central fireplace, make use of the communal lounge with full DSTV & large fireplace or choose a magazine or book from our extensive library.
A full English breakfast and more is included in the rate.

A warm welcome, a warm room (with electric blankets), a warm fire with sherry and a warm breakfast to kick start the day. Spent three nights in room 9 and had a fantastic time. The owners let welcome you to use the shared facilities as if it were your own home, and you don't have to pay for the firewood. The breakfast is simple but just right. There are warming facilities if you want to warm up leftovers or a mico meal. We will be back.

Ash River was very good value for money with everything you could expect. Rooms were very well equipped and the lodge was pleasant. The location near to the sports stadium and the lower cost township on the weekend meant there was quite a lot of unwanted noise, however.

Since this was my first visit to Clarens, Ash River Lodge was perfect for us. We felt safe, very comfortable and we felt like we were part of the family. Lallies and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a substantial breakfast every morning which set us up well for the day of exploring Clarens. Thank you Ash River Lodge (oh and especially for the complimentary Sherry!)
