What a lovely place. It was really excellent!
At first when we arrived at the lodge, I was very upset because there was no bath. As my husband cannot stand, he finds it difficult to shower. Everytime I book, I always use filters for wheelchair accessible and ask for a room with a bath.
The lady helping us kindly brought a plastic chair to use in the shower.
Everything was fabulous, the bathroom, rooms and patio were clean, the breakfast was outstanding and the staff were friendly and helpful. The view from the patio was absolutely outstanding, what a pleasant surprise!

A warm welcome, a warm room (with electric blankets), a warm fire with sherry and a warm breakfast to kick start the day.
Spent three nights in room 9 and had a fantastic time.
The owners let welcome you to use the shared facilities as if it were your own home, and you don't have to pay for the firewood.
The breakfast is simple but just right.
There are warming facilities if you want to warm up leftovers or a mico meal.
We will be back.

When we arrived in Clarens we put on our GPS to find the guesthouse. The GPS eventually took us into a very dodgy looking area with the most terrible road surfaces I've ever seen. It showed us to turn into a gravel road but when I drove on the road, I was afraid that my rims and tyres might get damaged. The gravel road was completely washed away. What made things worse was that when we arrived in Clarens, there hadn't been power the whole day due to some or other fault which nobody could explain to us. It eventually came on a few hours after we arrived. Overall the guesthouse was excellent with everything we needed. The room was neat and tidy and the staff are very friendly and professional. The breakfasts we had was very delicious. My advise to anybody wanting to book here is make sure you drive a 4X4 or SUV.

What can I say? One night was not enough but worth it. Pleasant staff, clean and organised. Rooms spacious especially the bathroom. Sitting outside with the amazing view, breathtaking. Breakfast, went down a real treat in the morning with a good variety. This facility caters for all types - business, family, friends and even on your own. If ever in Clarens, a good place to stay as not right in town but within walking distance if necessary.

Ash River was very good value for money with everything you could expect. Rooms were very well equipped and the lodge was pleasant. The location near to the sports stadium and the lower cost township on the weekend meant there was quite a lot of unwanted noise, however.

This was the perfect place to spend a night in Clarens. The rooms are beautiful, clean and have incredible views. The staff and owner were very hospitable and made us feel so at home. Delicious breakfast served before the long road home. Definitely recommend Ash River Lodge for a stay in Clarens! We can’t wait to come back.

We had booked as a family of 9, 5 rooms, and to accommodate us this worked out perfectly. enough lounge space for happy evenings together and spacious breakfast area. the hostess accommodated us for early arrival, and we could make ourselves at home to have suppers at "home". Thank you for making the weekend really special!!

Very clean and well presented rooms. Excellent bedding and the attention to detail is wonderful. Nice big mugs in the rooms for you tea and coffee and remember you wine.... Because they have proper wine glasses in the rooms.

You can sit on the stoep (verandah) and take in the magnificent views. The very scrumptious breakfast is also served on the verandah..

We will be back.

Ash River Lodge is well situated, and the facilities are really good.
We had a twin bed room with a veranda that faced onto beautifully mowed lawn. We also had some views of the mountains.
Our bathroom had a big bath, which was lovely.
Breakfasts were good, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I can recommend this B&B anytime.
