Such a lovely property with beautiful historical buildings, however, the inside was underwhelming and so dark. The bed was comfortable but the linen needs to be ungraded and the decor neutralised. The inside would look so much better painted white.
The location of the accommodation is really beautiful. It is located just before Clarens and is gorgeous. The room had everything you needed. A silly thing, the cups for tea or coffee were really small but otherwise it was a lovely stay.
I booked the Roos House for a weekend in Clarens for a wedding, with family. We needed at least three separate bedrooms (there being 5 of us) and so the Roos House was a good option. I made in the booking in June 2021, and paid fully for the accommodation before arriving. After travelling from Cape Town, (2 hour flight + 4 hour drive), we arrived at the Guest Farm, only to be informed that we had apparently not booked the Roos House, but a separate space. This only two bedrooms. What's more, one member of our group would have to sleep on a made up bed in the lounge area. This was evidently incorrect. After showing the receptionist that the booking was indeed for the Roos House (and had been fully paid), debating the issue for at least 25 minutes (including being told that the Roos House is for more than 5 people), and over-hearing a conversation between the receptionist and someone who appeared to be the owner of the property (who did not wish to speak with me), I eventually secured the Roos House as per the booking. There was some question of why I hadn't followed up with the guest farm: as if having paid fully for our stay it was my responsibility to ensure that the accommodation I had booked (months in advance) was available. The family with the other booking arrived later on, who were also expecting to stay in the Roos House. They were obviously upset, but made do with the alternative accommodation. Double bookings happen. What usually follows is an apology; if not from the owner, at least the front of house. No apology has been forthcoming. Nor has there been any attempt to make up for the mess caused by the double booking. The receptionist was frankly rude to me, and refused to take any responsibility for the problem. There are some positives: the guest farm is in a beautiful location and Clarens is a lovely town. The accommodation itself was fine, but the rooms need an update. Only one room had a shower, which was in need of maintenance and a good clean.…
A very nice property for an overnight stay. We wished we had another night. My daughter loved all the animals and walking around and exploring. The views are amazing, nice and quiet and close to Clarens.
So pleased we stumbled upon Linwood guest farm. Everything was amazing, from the accommodation to the owners. Staff are so kind and engaging. And as an extra bonus the farm is pet friendly so our puppy had the time of his life. So well priced for what you get. Will definitely be back.
