Very neat clean an nicely decorated rooms. Very caring kind and friendly management.
Breakfast was Superb !! Clarens is one of my favorite towns to visit and will be back again soon. Periwinkle Blue is close to town (within walking distance), lovely restaurants, art galleries.
Nice walk to the top of a koppie with a view over the town, Lovely.

We stayed here in the 'rose room' on our honeymoon in March 2010.
The guesthouse took my breath away! Attention to detail and gorgeous interior design were of a standard that I have never experienced before, absolutely gorgeous! The lovely hostess made us feel more than welcome and we felt embraced by her friendly caring nature. Will definitely keep on recommending this travel treasure wherever I go in the world

On a recent trip to South Africa, we made a two-night stopover in Clarens on our way to the Drakensberg. Firstly, the village of Clarens, the nearby Maluti mountains and Golden Gate Highland National Park are overlooked gems and I would happily spend several days there. The Drakensberg mountains are only a few hours around the corner, but are very different in feel and deserve separate treatment.

We didn't stay at Periwinkle Blue but lucked out at another place in town that is very strong on self-promotion but which we hated from the start (the place and the owner). Prompted by our intense dislike of "Fawlty Towers", we asked some very nice German tourists we met where they were staying and they raved about their accommodation, which turned out to be Periwinkle Blue.

We went along and liked the place and the lady running it from the start. You can get some idea of it from here (http://clarenstourism.co.za/periwinkle/) but that doesn't really do justice to it. The place has very good views, is very attractively furnished and has a very comfortable, relaxing feel to it. We would very happily go back to Clarens for a longer stay and would most certainly want to stay at Periwinkle Blue. I think it's one of the nicest B&Bs I've seen.

It is in a quiet side street but is within easy walking distance of the town centre, so drinking and driving is not a worry. Some of the other recommended B&Bs were a little further out and you would need to have a designated driver.

If you are planning to go to the amazing town of Clarens,I strongly recommend you don't stay at The Periwinkle Blue Guesthouse.Especially if you are going on a honeymoon. The accommodation isn't bad, although there aren't any fans nor air conditioning in the rooms. The attitude of the lady who runs it was extremely disappointing.I informed her well in advance that it was our 'honeymoon'.We literally got married the night before we arrived. We were on such a high and were looking forward to spending a romantic weekend together.Nothing from the guesthouse made this a special trip for us.Not even a rose petal on the bed. This and other circumstances made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We will most definitely return to Clarens, but will never stay at this guest house again!

On the outset all looked great and we decided to book. When we arrived we were met by the cleaning lady. Over the weekend that we stayed there the owner was not there once. We could not even arrange for breakfast. And had issues with getting keys.

We stayed in Periwinkle Blue over Christmas, taking the whole house for self-catering. Big and comforable and reasonably well equiped, it is close a short and pleasant walk into the centre of Clarens. The rooms inside and beautiful and well kept and very clean. Outside, the building is a little tired, but that doesn't matter. A good place to stay if you're in Clarens

I found Periwinkle Blue on 'Where to stay'. The fotos and discription seemed great and I contacted them to book our stay. The manager Sanmarie's communication was great.

On arrival we were so pleasantly surprised because past experience has tought us that guest houses are seldom as great as they seem on the web. Periwinkle Blue is better!

The rooms are beautifully furnised and clean, extremly clean and well maintained.

Clarens is one of our favourite places and were definately going back to Periwinkle Blue.

We took a mid-winter weekend breakaway to idyllic Clarens, one of many weekends there over the last few years. As for accommodation, one is spoiled for choice in this beautiful village town as to the very many options of guest lodges, B&B’s and self-catering holiday homes.

Because of our zest to always discover new, comfortable, great quality and value-for-money lodgings, we tried for the first time the Periwinkle Blue self-catering holiday home. In short: we ‘struck gold’, a gem, a stone’s throw away from the village centre (two blocks to walk). Our pleasure of the impeccable lodging was only matched by the superb, hands-on service of our booking agent, Gavin from Country Stay, who went of his way to assist during the one or two times when we needed it.

As for the house: four (4) beautifully appointed, all-en suite bedrooms, two downstairs, two upstairs, all with underfloor heating; large tastefully-decorated reception areas – downstairs lounge with gas fireplace, large dining room, lovely sunny upstairs double lounging area; no less than four patios attached to the house and a lovely outside boma-style braai area. The designer, eye-catching garden (even in winter-time) rounds off the picture. All of this comes with a beautiful view to Horeb Mountain in front of you and lovely views further beyond.

Given all of this, we thought the rental per-person-per-night rate was very agreeable, so, our expectations were generally well exceeded. Well done – thank you to the owners, and notably to Gavin (with staff Dolores and Dinah). We will be back, and we shall ‘spread the word’!

This is a little peace of heaven in a town that is good for the soul (not so good for the pocket, to much shopping).
My son had a bike race in Clarens and we decided to make it a "Whole Family Getaway" so we booked the house for the weekend. Amazing view, so many little nooks and crannies in this house and garden to enjoy. The rooms are amazing and the decor is so special.
I will most highly recommend this accommodation to anybody.
