We had such a wonderful Easter weekend at De Ark Mountain Lodge. Kelly is the most amazing host. She had so many great tips about what to see and do in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at De Ark and in the Clarens/Golden Gate area. What a fabulous spot to base yourself while you explore the restaurants and scenic hikes in the area. The staff are helpful and friendly and Silas even accompanied us on a 5km hike to make sure that we found the incredible cave paintings.

De Ark Mountain Lodge is like a slice of paradise up in the mountains. Not only is the accommodation top-notch, but the views are absolutely to die for!

We booked one of the three single story king rooms and it was spacious, clean, and cozy and we felt instantly relaxed the moment we stepped inside.

The views are absolutely breathtaking! Picture yourself waking up to mountains covered in mist, with the sun peeking through the clouds. It's the kind of view that makes you want to pinch yourself to make sure you're not dreaming.

In summary, if you're looking for a getaway that combines excellent service, luxurious accommodation, and stunning views, look no further than De Ark Mountain Lodge. Kelly, Silas, Ishmael, and Daniel will take care of you like family, and the experience will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. So pack your bags and get ready for a slice of heaven in the mountains

Nestled amongst the mountains, this property is a most enjoyable and incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of the massive mountains surrounding it.

Great staff, great hosts and excellent breakfast!

This is the perfect property to rejuvenate an overwhelmed city-dweller. No TV, no noise, just exceptional scenery and calm.

Magic place to stay, beautiful view. Super friendly staff that go beyond expectation. Awesome breakfast. Very private and secluded! Communication with the owner was outstanding. They even cater for our 9month old with a camping cot and baby bath!

We found this place online and decided to give it a try. The website is great and shows the awesome panoramic views in summer. In winter the views are still awesome but not as colourful. Based on the research we did, the prices seemed good compared to general prices in Clarens. We stayed in chalets 5 and 6. Other reviewers have noted that these need an upgrade to bring them out of the 80's. however they were very comfortable and the fire places worked excellently (other reviewers had issues with these so I guess they got some maintenance). The staff were all very friendly and helpful, including phoning us one day to apologise for accidentally breaking a bottle of cough syrup - glad they phoned as we were able to replace it in town. We had dinner at the l lodge on our first night and it, together with the breakfasts, were excellent home cooked food. Hopefully when we return I will not be sick and we can enjoy some walks in this beautiful setting.

The units are pretty modern, with two single beds downstairs, and a loft with double bed. The units are better suited for two people, with two couch chairs. There is no aircon, but they have wifi. The bathroom is a little cramped, with only a shower and toilet, the basin is inside the unit, but outside the bathroom. No bath. Unit has a small fridge and microwave, but no TV. Stunning views and very quiet. The venue serves a great English / farmers breakfast. Lodge is approximately 4km outside of Clarens

We booked lodges 1-4 for the Easter Weekend and really loved the place

Amazing scenery , very comfortable accommodation, but the meals need upgrading

The breakfast menu has been a repeat 3/4 mornings with one more to go and really not expecting anything new

The dinners are hearty and filling but for a 3 star establishment this needs to be jacked up

This place has so much potential and with a bit more care and refinement this could easily move to 4 star

Would return again , but the meals need to be modernized and more care given

Tough steaks do not go down well, and apart from being hungry there is no incentive to order them again

Hope the feedback get received constructively

We had a great short stay at this place with hosts Juanita and Danny. Danny always made us feel warmly welcome in the lodge and Juanita made huge and delicious evening meals, and I loved the fresh home baked bread and 3 course breakfasts. The farm has a couple of walks that we did amongst the zebra and wildebeest and we also opted to sit and read in the space and breathe in the mountain air. Going out to explore by car is possible, and Golden Gate isn't far, but we didn't fancy putting our poor little hire car through the mill too many times - the drive requires a decent sized vehicle really, and anyway we'd come to rest.

This is the fifth time that we've stayed at De Ark, and as always a very memorable one. Adri and the staff are always friendly and helpful. You can ask them absolutely anything and they will try their best to accommodate you.

The rooms are always clean, the brakfast room have great mountain views and the bar well stocked. An awesome breakfast is served every morning and supper ... Always tasty home cooked food with a extra touch of love.

Having no television in the rooms makes it the perfect couples getaway and is great for nature lovers.

Fernando, we would like to thank your staff for excellent service and we will continue to come and stay at De Ark lodge.

Andre and Niki
