Had a wonderful stay at the Ascot Gardens. Location was good for us as I was visiting family in Tokai.
Very clean and nicely furnished in a secure garden location.
Barry was on hand for any questions and to offer assistance with any problems.
I would stay there again on my next visit.
Accommodation was excellent for the price.

A little gem of a place to stay! Really like a home away from home! Great hosts in Barry & Leslie! With no complaints! This is a must as a single traveler or family. My family and I will be using them again in the future.

I stayed at Ascot gardens from September 7th to Sept 9th 2015. I was visiting for Canada. Barry the owner is still stuck in apartheid South Africa. The look on his face when I arrived at his establishment and he saw that I am of African descent was priceless. He questioned me on my heritage and wondered why I was "so dark" if I was Canadian? His manner was patronizing and rude. He treats his staff with disdain and his manner 21 years post the end of apartheid was appalling. I moved out after 3 days not because my stay in Capetown was over but I didn't feel welcome in this establishment.

I phoned to enquire about staying at Ascot Gardens and I spoke to Barry. He was one of the rudest people I have encountered in the hospitality industry. He hung up on me while I was still talking to him! I was so shocked, that I even phoned back to ask if I had somehow offended him by asking if he had availability. But he had put the phone onto fax.

Dont know what the accommodation is like because I will never be staying there!

This was a very disappointing set up. Extremely basic unserviced. Badly laid out. Have to go through the bathroom to get to one of the rooms!
Not very clean. The owner not very accommodating.
I certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

Whether in a group, as a family or by yourself, Ascot Gardens will have the ideal unit for you. Each unit ensuring comfort, security, and privacy you will not find elsewhere. The whole place itself has a wonderful and homey ambiance with every unit well built and impeccably maintained and furnished. Every corner of the property is beautifully maintained, airy and not crowded with beautiful greenery and shrubbery that is bar none. Other facilities include swimming pools, a library, a laundry area and safe off street parking.

Located in the middle of a middle class suburban neighborhood, that has sufficient security, filling stations, convenience stores, shopping malls, restaurants and fastfood chains, Ascot Gardens is about 30 minutes from the City Center and also very close to the wine routes and points of interest. On top of that, the hosts, Barry and Leslie are very accommodating and kind. For those who would like the comfort, ambiance and privacy of home in the middle of a secure and safe suburban community, Ascot Gardens is one to consider.

I absolutely love Ascot Gardens and and loved my stay in the Mountain Suite! The view every day was beautiful and the room was spacious, neat, clean, and very homey. The owner and his wife are VERY accommodating and every one else who works there is very friendly! I also was able to utilize the washer and dryer and the library that they have on the property. My stay there definitely had a positive impact on my overall stay in Cape Town.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ascot Gardens. We stayed in the poolside room, which had 2 single beds. We had booked the room with a double but on arrival were upgraded and told we could put the beds together. It wasn't too difficult to rearrange them, but might have been nice to come to the room already reorganized to accommodate a couple. Really truly not a big deal, though.
The kitchen was great, but a bigger refrigerator and working freezer (everything we put in there was cold but melted) would have been nice. The room was very spacious and the free wifi worked wonderfully, which was a huge plus. There is also a washer/dryer on the property which you can use for a low cost which is then donated to a charity.
Overall we had a lovely stay, the hosts are great, and I would recommend the location to anybody who enjoys peace, quiet and self catering. :)

Ascot Gardens offers a range of self catering accommodation, with units of varying sizes, perfect for individuals or for family groups.
Barry and Lesley are great hosts and provide many little extra touches that are really useful for the traveller. Wifi is available and a brilliant computer/library room with skype facilites and huge range of tourist leaflets, maps and suggestions for days out.
We have stayed twice and found the units well equipped, particularly clean and homely.
Parking is provided off road and the site secure.
The pool was an added bonus in the hot weather as were the braai facilities.
Each unit is well screened from the others, with the fabulous gardens being a feature of the property.
The neighbourhood is peaceful and a small shopping centre is within walking distance.
Expect a warm welcome and most comfortable stay.
