Medhufushi Island Resort is a heaven of peace and relaxation. An air of tranquility pervades the idyllic island which is adorned with shady coconut trees and tropical flowers. Surrounding the island is a spectacular lagoon in shades of turquoise and shimmering azure blue. If you want to get away from it all and experience affordable, laid-back rustic at a Maldives resort, you can’t find anywhere better than Medhufushi Island Resort. As one of just two resorts in beautiful Meemu Atoll, you are far from the noise and congestion of the modern world. But you’ll find all the comforts of home available in our spacious and attractive villas, which come with a private sundeck and traditional Maldivian swing chair. There’s no better spot to watch the gentle waves together than from the shade of your ‘udoli’. Our exclusive lagoon suites offer the ultimate in seclusion at Medhufushi; the two spacious over-water suites are accessible only by boat. The distinctive Maldivian atmosphere is evident throughout the resort, from the warm and welcoming staff to the where traditional charm unites of each property and the sandy floors of the restaurants. Venture even further into the realm of nirvana at the in-house spa. The spa is built upon stilts over the sparkling lagoon. The combination of the soft sound of the waves and the expert touch of the massage therapists is guaranteed to send you into a state of pure bliss. The warm shallow water and pure white sand is a delight to experience but there are also all kinds of activities and experiences available for you and your loved one to enjoy. The secluded location ensures that the surrounding coral reefs and dive sites are virtually pristine, with intact and healthy corals and an abundance of aquatic life. Divers can discover a host of exciting and wondrous dive sites where manta rays, turtles, reef sharks and all manner of tropical reef fish can be found. The Werner Lau Diving Centre’s team is on hand to help you learn and discover.

Medhufushi Island Resort is praised for its cleanliness, offering pristine rooms and well-kept grounds, according to guests. The amenities, including diverse dining options and picturesque surroundings, are generally admired, though some visitors suggest enhancements. While the service is mostly friendly and attentive, there are occasional lapses in professionalism. Travelers enjoy the serene atmosphere and lively evening activities, but note the rooms could benefit from modernization. Despite appreciating the resort's scenic location, some reviewers warn that the high costs for activities may affect the overall value.

Travelled by seaplane from Male airport to the island, great start to the holiday, great views from the plane seeing other islands on the way. Arrived at Medhufushi island resort after about 40 minutes and welcomed ashore by smiling staff, then escorted to the bar (only bar on the island) for check in which was quick an efficient, plus a cool towel and cold drink before being shown to our accommodation, we stayed in an over water villa No. 142. First impressions were the villa looked very tired, mini bar was filled with 8 soft drinks, water pressure was low and you needed to run the hot tap for 10 minutes before hot water was achieved. The wooden flooring on our balcony was in bad shape and felt unsafe as did the boardwalk to the island. The owners call it rustic, I would call it run down in need of much needed refurbishment. Our room guy was Ali, looked after our room, fresh towels daily, restocked the mini bar, kept the room clean and tidy for the duration of our stay, a real gentleman. Our villa was quite a walk to the restaurant (only one on the island) and could be a challenge in bad weather which we had quite a bit of, not the islands fault. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, the waiters, the pool attendant could not do enough for us. The restaurant was good but got a bit monotonous after 14 nights, they have a speciality restaurant but we found it quite expensive. The main bar is good, you get snacks at about 4 pm every day which is nice as it breaks the day up a bit, bar staff and waiters are as good as gold and will look after you, just tip them now and then, they deserve it. Swimming pool is in good shape and the pool attendant and waiters will bring drinks to your sun bed for you. All in all we had an OK holiday, we met some wonderful people while we were there, this was our 7th visit to the Maldives and this is the only island we would not return to, nor would we recommend. In our opinion the owners need to reinvest in the island and bring it back to what was once a beautiful place, this is an honest review, but only our opinion based on other islands we have visited,
Best regards Phil and Angie.

We have just returned from Medhufushi Island Resort, we went for my wife's birthday celebration, we were met off the sea plane and Novi straight away wished her a "Happy Birthday", we were taken to our water villa and found the bed to be dressed with a beautiful "Happy Birthday".
The holiday was about to begin, the water bungalow was lovely but was south facing on the left side of the walkways and we only got the sun up until 1 o'clock, I would say the snorkelling was better on this side of the water bungalows, but if you are seeking the sun throughout the day and to see the sun rise and the sun set from your water bungalow then the water bungalows to the right hand side of the walkways would be better, but these bungalows are not as private on this side. Our room was kept beautifully clean by Basheen, if we needed anything we just had to ask him and he accommodated us quickly with whatever we needed at the time. The staff on the island were always so pleasant and were so polite when you were walking around the island, even the ladies in the morning brushing the leaves away on the sand pathways were very polite.
The food was excellent, far too much and the choice was excellent at every meal time. Our waiter was Sajjat and he was so lovely and so attentive at our meal times.
He arranged for a special birthday table to be set up and a birthday cake, he realised my wife did not want a lot off fuss for her birthday so he quietly brought out the birthday cake for her, which she was very appreciative of.
The whole island is quite big and the snorkelling for someone like my wife who is not a strong swimmer was excellent I would say the whole of the island was okay for her to feel quite safe in the water.
The bar on the evening where the sharks were fed at 7 o'clock was lovely very relaxing and the bar staff were attentive and very happy to supply your choice of drink. Monika was lovely and made my wife different mocktails for her her to try.
The water sports on the island were ridiculously expensive, there was hardly anyone who hired anything, for example the jet ski was $300 for 1 hour. The spa looked nice but this seemed a little expensive too, I am sure if they charged a little less they would get far more business.
The sea plane was excellent, we got there quickly 45 mins approximately and it was ready and on time for our return.

Well firstly the hassle of getting to the island is something you get use to after the first visit, but we had a long speedboat ride to the island, you do get picked up pretty quickly which was a positive. Avoid long speedboat ride if at all possible…..we got the seaplane back, better but is it worth the extra you pay?, cos if you land to pick people up that’s quite an experience, can be slightly worse than the speedboat, but only for a shortish period.
Weather was a fair bit changeable, which we didn’t expect as we watched the long range forecast….lesson learnt there!
Water villa was nice and location was good as it was one of the first ones with a sunset view, we didn’t see a clear sunset once. On the other side the sunrise was amazing🙄
Swimming off the water villa was easy, with not such a strong current. We snorkelled a few days and there is some interesting reefs near the spa villa, we also saw Manta Rays in this area as well.
We had a few bad nights of weather, so it was really refreshing to find everything working pretty well in the villa i.e. WiFi, TV films on demand etc. Room cleaned every day and a great job done by the guys who did that.
All inclusive worked pretty well, albeit quite limited, but we get it. I would suggest Pina Colada is added to the list, but we didn’t mind paying for the odd few😉
Food was really better than we expected, chefs were available to comment on dishes. Curry’s, pops and nans were amazing, soups were the best. Lamb, beef, chicken meats were spot on. Variety was generally excellent, couldn’t really fault anything, so well done chefs/cooks and waiters were very attentive.
Staff were pretty good, language could be a problem occasionally, excursion guy was really good, flexible and positive, swimming with the sharks is quite an experience.
All in all a great holiday despite indifferent weather that never really settled down always windy, so well done all at Medhufushi👏

I went with family to celebrate Wife's birthday (on 31st Dec) and was repenting on my decision to choose this property. Average 5 star property with very rude staff and poor services. You don't go 2.5 hours away from Male through speed boat on a luxurious private Island (paying through your nose) to receive such ridiculous treatment. The staff is rude, not courteous and seems not interested in serving customers. There were no towels around swimming pool, worn off racquets at TT table (& no other facility worth mentioning) and they had to be reminded to bring birthday cake (which staff was not aware of). Staff refused to deliver leftover cake to room & refused to even give a handbag to carry it ourselves. During early morning checkout, the packed breakfast was total 4 bread slice + 4 apples for a family of 4 people. Is that what luxury and abundance means. Having a beautiful location is not sufficient to charge exorbitant price unless the level of service leaves you with the feeling of pampered. The racial bias in serving Indian customers was very clearly visible & many Indian families/ honeymoon couples shared same view. While the location was picturesque, there are equally beautiful locations in Andaman-Nicobar Islands & Lakshadweep Islands at less than 1/5th price. The staff is mostly from Srilanka, Bangladesh and don't understand English to be able to communicate to customers and at every drop of the hat request guests to speak to Manager/Chef. I'm shocked by the level of hospitality offered to us during our 3 night stay and hope other hotels in Maldives are worth the price. A complete let down. For better experience on hospitality, come to India and stay in any 5 star !!

On arrival we were greeted as we arrived on speed boat- it was a nice experience even if it was a 2 and half hour journey. We were asked if we wanted to catch lunch before checking in but we decided to go to our room, our bags were taken there and we were shown to where we were staying, we had a water villa and albeit a little dated it was more rustic looking and such a beautiful setting, we requested one of the furthest away and they didn’t disappoint. Bed was comfortable and the air con was great and kept the room cool (as long as the bathroom door was closed)
Food: I’m quite picky with food but I must say I never struggled to find something to
Eat and it was all really tasty, my husband lived on the curries and he enjoyed every single one.
Drinks: can’t fault the drinks included, I drank white wine mainly and it was really tasty for an all inclusive brand. The beers were branded so my hubby was happy as he enjoys Heineken.
Staff: staff couldn’t do enough for us and always greeted us with a smile. A massive, massive appreciation for the pool guy (can’t remember his name) always happy, smiley and joked around which I enjoyed. Monica was just the best, made our experience more memorable! She’s attentive and always enjoys a chat, she’s very funny and a massive asset to customers experience.
The beach area was kept clean and any information you required about trips was provided.
On departure we were asked about our experience and if we had any positive/ negative feedback.
The only negative I could give was to have an extra socket put where the dressing table is because there is only one and it’s used for the mini fridge. (Water villa) he noted it all down though when we suggested anything.
And although milk is included within the all inclusive package, I asked for a chocolate milkshake and I was charged £8, which was fine and the milkshake was tasty but should not be chargeable really. And lastly, a means to get cash out on the island if you are like us and forget to take any- the neighbouring island has a cash point but only allows you to take out Maldivian money. Was more for giving tips out really but if you’re after a really beautiful relaxing, rustic place to chill and unwind then I highly recommended this island, we stayed in Kuredu few years back and Medhufushi was by far the best of the 2.
We like it quiet so going out of season suited us and the weather was amazing other than one day.
Don’t go on all/ any negative reviews, go and make your own mind up like we did, you won’t be disappointed.

Hi, thank you for the review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us 😍 We will pass the compliments to our team here. We would also like to thank you for the feedback about socket location and milkshake. It is true that nearby islands do not have USD cash ATMs only right now. If you wish to draw cash is USD, this can be done at Velana airport. Thanks - Medhufsuhi Team

Our experience here was an amazingly well spent holiday. The entire stay was so comfortable with friendly staff and a breathtaking location.
Mr. Gaurav made special efforts to ensure that we had the best facilities available and was very very friendly in answering and arranging special requests as I proposed my Wife here. I would definitely recommend talking to Mr Gaurav if you're coming from India as he is the island expert and can make your stay worth a while by making sure you get the best excursions available along with a hospitable stay.
The staff here is extremely polite and well mannered with an impeccable service and a warm smile. I would recommend anyone going here to book both beach and water villa combo as we did the same and the first 2 days we spent on the beach and the other 2 in the water villa. The beach villa is my favourite and if you are a water Baby just like my fiance is then water villa would definitely amaze you.
One more thing about this entire property is that it is very clean and well maintained and any requests are taken very warmly. We would definitely want you to try the speedboat, although it is a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth for a one time experience for a couple and it is guided as well.
Now talking about food, you'll get to taste an amazing variety of cuisines and for non vegetarians it is a paradise. You should always book for a full board meal while making the reservation as ordering per meal basis might get a little costly.
The Vilubar is also a must try experience as it is between the island and you can enjoy your drinks watching the sunset and a beautiful ocean horizon in front of you. Do try the nachos with mexican cheese as a side as it was one of our favourites.
Overall it was a vacation worth every minute and everything from the location, dining, hospitality to the service is a perfect 10/10. My special appreciation for Mr Gaurav again as he is one of the most helpful persons in the admin team to make sure the stay at this island is a memory worth having.

We have been to a good hand full of different Maldives Islands, so we decided go to different one, Medhufushi Island. We arrived at the Island via seaplane, which is a great way to see a lot of different Islands form above when flying over them. The Island is advertised as 4 plus, l would say 3 plus, a lot of the water villas roofs are damaged and messy. And a lot of the villas are tired and need attention, the decking around the pool needs the hole lot re-doing, its been repaired loads of times and is tatty, also the same with the decking that goes out to the water villas. The food was ok, a very small selection to choose from. they said this was because of they hadn't received a delivery of supplies for over 3 weeks, ie why they were running out of food & drink (Me l don't know).
There are 2 restaurants, 1 you pay for. There is afternoon tea at the main bar around 4 everyday and there are 2 bars, 1 is a serving hatch which is used for the pool area. and the other bar is on the pier.
But again the staff where fantastic and Yasas was the one how looked after us, from when we were on the lsland and he was a Diamon, you could easy speak to him, And he would do he's up most to help you, thank you Yasas. And the other 2 where Adam ( Restaurant manager ) and he's side kick, One job... sometimes known as ( Black Diamond ). Adam could not help us enough, a great laugh and one job.... well,
he would pick on me and l would pick on him, great fun. saying that... all the staff in the hole of the restaurant were fantastic and very friendly.
There is a Spa on the lsland, which we used and had two very nice massages. You can only walk round 2/3 of the lsland and there is no coral to go snorkelling on, which is a shame... but they do, do a boat trip for that, which is free. Our room we had was on the back of the Island between the office and the spa, love room, quieter and being at the back was a lot warm and less wide than on the pool side and around the pool. The hole Island does need refurbishment and up dating.
( They need to spend some money ) !!
Compare to the other Islands we have been to, which did have a lot high standards for a 4 star.
but saying that the Island is love and the staff are fantastic,
We would go back sometime in the near future...
We did meet up with 4 more couples and had a blast and a fantastic time, thanks guys.

This idyllic location is perfect for a couples getaway, we stayed in water villa which was in some ways amazing, the bathrooms could do with some updating but large and adequate, overall the property is in need of some refurbishment particularly to decking areas and walkways. There is only the one restaurant and one bar, unless you wish to pay a surplus for Al a Carte - saying that the food is plentiful and excellent choices, there is plenty of space and we never felt overcrowded the pool and beach areas are beautiful, and shallow waters mean swimmers of all levels can enjoy the waters and snorkeling.
Boat trips are available daily with free snorkeling trips and fishing.
Overall we were satisfied with the resort, if you weren't in such a beautiful place you could possibly pick more faults.

Just had 6 nights for a short break; all the staff and the service from the moment we got off the speed boat throughout was wonderful. Assigned a waiter who was there for every meal to take care of us, he was superb every day, (Sajit).

The food was very good, always something to enjoy, breakfast was too good tbh, the drinks were good, San Miguel and Tiger on draught and a range of cocktails and spirits with daily specials on cocktails outside of the AI package, definitely go all-inclusive if you like a drink, a beer which looked about 400ml was 7 US, so it racks up quickly if you have a thirst.

Excursions were a bit limited, free snorkelling trip on most days but was not overly impressed with location when i went, the line fishing was really good for a few hours, caught 7 on the last trip out and they prepare and serve them for you the next day for dinner. Spa facilities were reasonable, about 127 US for a massage and body scrub which was nice. Local island-hopping trip very limited, if you go there's a few souvenir shops and a walk round a town and dusty streets, some lovely beaches but you need to cover up to respect locals as would be expected.

The water bungalows are from what we could see all very tired, ours certainly was, decking, roof, fittings, everything needs refurbishing inside and out so take this into account when booking to ensure this is reflected in the price you pay.

I would say do not take the 2.5 - 3 hours speed boat transfers, just too uncomfortable, especially after the travel u have already endured. We took them going and as soon as we got there upgraded to sea plane out, you pay more to upgrade the closer you leave it to departure too. Sea plane took just short of 1 hour as it stopped to make a pickup, but the scenery is beautiful, and you get to see other resorts.

Definitely somewhere to chill for couples, good mix of nationalities too.

Thank you for your feedback. Happy to hear that you had a good stay with us and appreciate our staff service and the beauty of the island. In regards with the transfers, we highly suggest the seaplane transfer as it is faster than speedboat however the cost is much more but if you have extra you can always opt to have the seaplane transfers. We will take note of your suggestions as it matters to us. Hope to see you again. Thank you! Medhufushi Island Resort Team.

As others have said it’s not an all inclusive resort a very limited cocktail list with most drinks chargeable. The restaurant food has very limited choice if you don’t eat curry, 6 varieties one evening curry served breakfast lunch and dinner, it is an open buffet self serving with people handling the food, if your late to the sitting standards of appearance very off putting. I would recommend taking your own toiletries as those supplied are less than standard.
That said the staff do the best they can our thanks go to Ali who looked after our room, Sajed our waiter.
the free snorkelling trip was excellent. There is no training there you need to go able to swim/snorkel.
The landscaping was really amazing and the paths kept clean by the ladies daily.
This won’t be a resort we will be returning to.

There is only the one bar which is split up into different sections. It's beautiful to sit there at night and feel the light breeze while having your drinks. There is a pool table and darts board There also and they have different entertainment at night. The dining hall is buffet style and caters for all the different cultures that go there. Gut absolutely paradise there
