Secure parking on the mainland, then short motorboat ride to the island 8 kms away. Stayed for 4 nights at the end of our family trip after visiting different places in southern Malawi, to relax and experience a bit of luxury. This is indeed what we found, Matt and all staff were very friendly and helpful, we swam in the...

We took our two small kids over to Blue Zebra fro a couple nights and we did not leave disappointed! We were unable to fault the island retreat on one aspect, from the food, right down to the snorkeling around the island. A must visit when in Malawi!

Wonderful lodge in a beautiful location. The rooms are very nicely done with great amenities, and the staff are fantastic and accommodating. An extremely peaceful and relaxing place to unwind and see the millions of stars of Lake Malawi when the lights are all shut off. Matt and Estelle and wonderful hosts and nothing is too difficult, and the food...

Stayed two nights at Blue Zebra after a week long work trip to Lilongwe. This was exactly what we needed. Everything was perfect and we had the best time. The snorkeling is a truly amazing part of this experience. I highly recommend Blue Zebra to anyone looking to take a Lake Malawi vacation. Thanks so much!

I stayed one night in a luxury tent at Blue Zebra. I took the 12pm boat to shore (wear shorts as you will walk in the water to the boat!) and arrived by 1pm. After a delicious glass of hibiscus juice, we were informed of the activities available and when electricity was turned on. The luxury tents were great -...

We had a wonderful island vacation at Blue Zebra. We stayed at the cottage (3 nights), which has sweeping views of the lake, sunrise, and sunset. It was perfect for two couples and a toddler although you have to be okay with an open concept floor plan (no doors for the toilet or shower? no problem!). The cottage has an...

What more do you want from a luxyry resort? A thatched villa? Naturally. Your own private beach on a World Heritage site? That'll do. Dazzling birdlife? No problem. The sound of the lake, 20 feet beneath you, to lull you to sleep? Absolutely. French cuisine in the middle of Africa? Parfait.

Probably the best sunset in Malawi and the closer option to visit the Lake from Lilongwe. I have stayed at both, chalet and tents, and must say they are among the best in Malawi. Food is great and staff is very friendly making you feel at home. Use the kayaks and enjoy the ride!

Wading out to the boat ( hubby failed to mention there was no landing stage so I was in long shorts!) up to my thighs in the warm waters of Lake Malawi was the beginning of a really wonderful 3 days. For the first 2 days we were the only guests, so had the island, pool, etc etc all to...
